We already have Marriott Grand Vista booked, but would love to hear reviews, opinons, recommendations! (I've never stayed off property before and am a bit nervous) Is it lean? Is there some buildings that are better than others? Should we ask for a specific one? We'd like to be close to the pool.
Is is clean? Well maintained?

It's been five years since we've been there and we loved it. We paid $120 for a one-bedroom then and would go back again if it wasn't so expensive. It was very clean and just a very nice place. If we can't stay onsite, we enjoy staying at places that have a "resort" feel, and Marriott's Grande Vista definitely had it. They have a nice little store and a pizza place (Pizza Hut?) The new pool wasn't built yet when we were there, but we enjoyed the main pool and it was close to the store for snacks. We asked to be close to the pool when we checked in and we had about a five minute walk. I'm sure someone else will answer who has been there recently and can give you more up-to-date information.

Another happy customer here, it's a great resort, we stayed there twice because we loved it so much.

Another VERY happy customer here. We stayed in May 2006 in a 2bd/2ba with 2 adults and 2 pre teens.
We loved it! The resort was very clean, very well maintained and there was so much to do. We stayed there during a Disney vacation, so we didn't have a lot of time to spend at the resort itself, but you could easily spend a week there, and not have to leave the resort, and not be bored.

There is a little onsite store to buy some essentials, but we used Garden Grocer to get a grocery delivery. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, and a Pizza Hut. There is a few pools, but there is one "big" pool that has the pool bar, and dining. If you have kids that will want to spend a lot of time at this pool, then you may want to book a room near this pool. We had a room overlooking the golf course, and one of the "quiet" pools, and found that it was easy enough to just walk over to the big pool.

There is a big arcade and teen hang room, as well as a younger childrens area. You can rent movies, paddleboats, and all sorts of fun things like that.
Like I said, we really liked it and are considering actually purchasing a timeshare here. And we were not hassled even once by timeshare sales people during our stay.
Have fun!! ANd if you do a search on this thread, you will find my reviews with pictures on here.

We have also stayed here twice and really enjoyed it. At the time (2004) they had just completed the building we stayed in, I believe it was called Cristobal. We returned in 2006 and it was still in great condition. Lots of activities for kids of all ages: paddle boats, multiple pools with water features, crafts etc. It is also located on the quiet end of I Drive which is a plus. :thumbsup2

stayed beg of jan and it was great.

great rooms, easy to get to WDW

didn't get to use much of the pools etc. b/c of the weather but they looked great.

does anyone know how to get some cheaper rooms at the grande vista. We have a reservation in may using our timeshare but now our friends want to join us and i am trying to find them a good deal. do they have a timeshare deal??

Try www.tug2.net and try to rent from an owner there, that's how we got great deals for our 2 weekly stays. I would ask MGV about a timeshare special offer for your friends too. Good luck!

I take it you are members of II (Interval International) since you used your timeshare to get Grande Vista and it trades through II. (Or do you own at Grande Vista and just booked direct with Marriott?)

If you are members of II, I would search the cash Getaways on II. If you are not members of II, it costs $84.00 a year for a basic II membership (and you have to own a II affiliated resort to join). The cash Getaway prices I see for Marriott Grande Vista throughout May are $639 for a two bedroom for the week and $549 for a one bedroom - that's with the basic membership. If you have a gold membership, it's $25.00 cheaper a week. If you are not with your friends at check-in, they would also have to pay a $39.00 guest certificate fee. But, if you are there to check them in and your name is on the reservation, they wouldn't need the guest certificate.
