Marriott awards transfer to get SW Companion Pass?

I'm trying to get enough credit card points to get the free SW Companion Pass.
1) So far, I've applied for and received the SW Premium Credit card and have charged the $2,000 needed so am waiting for the 50,000 SW points to credit.
2) I've applied for the SW business card but have not heard back that I have been accepted. It's been about a month so I think I will be denied.
So other options I was investigating to get the additional 50,000 SW points.
a) SW personal plus card - I can't find a link to get this. Has it been discontinued?
b) Marriott card. Right now, I have an offer to get 70,000 Marriott points and charge $3,000 in 2 months. I already have 80,000 Marriott points so from Southwest's web site, 140,000 Marriott points would transfer to 50,000 SW points and 10,000 Marriott points transfer to 2,000 SW points so that would get me 52,000 SW points. So then I would have:
52,000 SW points transferred from Marriott
52,000 SW points from the SW premier card (2,000 from qualifying spend and 50,000 points) so that total is 104000 so just need 6,000 additional points.
Has anyone tried getting the Marriott card instead of another SW card? Does the Marriott points transferred to SW points qualify for the Companion pass?

Any other advice for me? TIA

Yes, Marriott point transfers count towards the companion pass, but they transfer at a 3:1 ratio. So, you'd need to transfer 174,000 marriott points to make up the difference.

I believe you can do something with booking a Marriott points vacation package that includes the transfer of points to the SW program so you get a better value on the transfer. I can't say I know the exact details on how this works but I'm sure you can find the how to's via google.

I got both the personal and biz cards and have the companion pass through 2016. I got the extra 6,000 RR points that I needed by transferring from Chase UR program to Hyatt then from Hyatt to SW... but it was a small amount so I wasn't too concerned about the poor transfer ratio. The CP is awesome and depending on your travel plans for the rest of this year and 2016, could be worth much more than 170K Marriott points.

I haven't used Marriott to transfer so I can't speak to that.

But if you need a few thousand extra points the RR shopping portal really helps.

I shop a lot online and did all my shopping through there for awhile. I got my remaining 6k points for the companion pass (after two RR cards) really quickly that way.

Thanks for all your advice!

Sharona, I checked the vacation package and need at least 220,000 Marriott points which I do not have but still something that looks extremely attractive for the future! I'm planning a 10 day trip to visit relatives over Christmas so can use the vacation points then but it may be too late to meet the 110,000 southwest points for 2015.

I agree that the CP may be more valuable than the Marriott points.
