March it WAS, May it IS!

OK, so the changes are in the works and I will know more Monday, but here is what I know so far...........Tyler has decided he doesn't want to go with us. He would rather stay home and dog sit to earn some extra money. I am bummed about it, but I guess I can't force him to go.

Next thing....I may be changing our dates AGAIN. Here is the reason-----------As some of y'all know I have been dealing with having knee surgery and in the process going through h-e -double hockey sticks with my shoulder. Well, I told my workman's comp rep that I did not want to go back to the doctor who did my knee because he has totally ignored what I have been telling him about my shoulder. I have been through 6 weeks of physical torture, almost 3 months of pain meds and a doctor who would not listen when I told him I had a torn rotator cuff. The doctor finally broke down and ordered the MRA.........VERY PAINFUL PROCEDURE.........and as I have posted previously, I have a completely torn rotator cuff.

I will have to have surgery to repair the tear, but I have requested a new doctor. I likely won't be seeing that doctor until the first week in March because he is taking the week of Mardi Gras off and is booked up until then :headache:. So, if all goes by the normal time line for rotator cuff repair, recovery and physical therapy schedule, I will be going back to work around the last of May. I have our trip booked for the first week in June which would be a total NO GO for me getting time off work :scared1::eek::sad2::guilty::sad1:.

I am now looking at changing our dates to the first week in May so it will fall within my recovery time. I am just about to lose my mind with all these changes and trying to work everything out with my surgery, recovery, work and Dale's promotion. I am about ready to just load up Dallas and head down to Disney; just me and him :rolleyes1.

On a better note; we went shopping today and I got Dallas another pair of shorts and two shirts. Old Navy is having a buy 1 get 1 on their tee shirts so I snagged two for him!

The Dis is acting up on me so this may be an "almost duplicate post".

We went out to eat tonight and John asked me if you had gotten to see the new doctor yet. When I told him no, he said that he knew you had to be getting frustrated and ready to get the whole ordeal over with.

I was afraid that I was going to log on and see that you didn't know when you were going back. At least you're planning on going earlier rather than later.

Changes????? Oh do tell!!!

Yes it is very frustrating. I have to go see the doctor who did my knee surgery Monday, ONLY because that is when my work excuse ends. I am going to be good and not get angry with him XXXXXXXX(<<<my fingers). When he says I have got to have surgery I know I will be tempted to say "Yeah, I know!! Remember I told you that? But, you WON'T be doing it". I did not want to have to go back and see him, but I really have no option until I can get in with the new surgeon :sad2:.

Yikes girl. Well, at least you'll know we're still here the first week of may!! LOL Do what ya gotta do for the sake of your family. I just wanna be able to see you guys before we head out west!!

How about putting off going back to work until the first week of June, and go to Disney the last week of May!?!?! Ulterior Motives in this suggestion! ;)

With it being workman's comp I don't know how long they will allow me to put off going back. I could actually go back now, but on light duty. I am restricted to lifting 5 lbs and we don't have too many babies that size........:lmao: I could do desk work, but we don't have that.

I was planning on the last week of May at one point, but Dale can't get that week off :sad2:.

I don't know how I missed your post Christie :guilty:. But anyway that is one reason I want to come down earlier; I want to be able to see you. Dale said we should just postpone until after the summer; I told him "NO WAY".

We had thought about coming down next weekend for the Bud Shootout, but decided it wouldn't be a good idea. We don't want to spend too much money unnecessarily.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed as I was really looking forward to seeing you, BUT, I completely understand. I've been suffering with a shoulder injury for two and half months. As soon as things slow down with my new job, I'm headed for a second opinion. I'm certain I do not have tendonitis. I've been doing the stupid exercises for weeks and I"m not better and their dumb exercises don't bother me at all.

I haven't changed anything yet. I am just not sure what way to turn .

I can feel your pain girl, this has been like nothing else I have ever experienced. The pain is constant and at times it feels like a knife going through my bicep. If you can get an MRI then do so. The longer you go the more damage you could be doing if it is a tear.

I am going to post how my appointment went next.

So today I went back to the doctor. I already knew my rotator cuff was torn, but I still had to go back and see Dr. Suckitup. He came into the room and the first thing he asks me is if I had ever had shoulder surgery, or had my shoulder injected, or an MRI of my shoulder, the answer was no, except for what I have had since December.

He then tells me that I have a 2cm tear and will have to have surgery--------well duh? I was surprised when he admitted that PT had likely caused more damage. He said I would have to wear an immobilizer for 6 weeks after surgery and only take it off to shower and for passive range of motion exercises. He said it would take 6 weeks for the rotator cuff to heal. After 6 weeks I will then start PT and he couldn't tell me how long I would have to be in PT. I wanted so badly to tell him that he would NOT be touching me.

While he is talking about the surgery he tells me that they will inject my shoulder before they wake me up so I won't be in so much pain :scared1:. He then tells me that I need to stop taking the lortabs now so I won't build up too much of a tolerance. UM HELLO..........I'm in pain now. I wanted to tell him that if he had listened to me from the start I wouldn't have built up a tolerance!!!! He gave me Ultram and Celebrex which are both useless.

My workman's comp rep was at my appointment with me and when we walked out in the hall she asked me if I still wanted to see another doctor, and of course I said "YES". Now I am again in the hurry up and wait mode until workman's comp approves everything and I can get in and see the new doctor.

I took my work excuse to my boss and when I looked at it; the nurse had written "No use of Lt(left) shoulder and arm" HELLO, IS ANYBODY HOME-----It's my RIGHT arm!!! I told Dale I am going to get a marker and in BIG letters write NO on my left shoulder.......:lmao:.

The good thing that came out of this is that I don't have to go to PT any more, well at least until after my shoulder surgery :scared1:.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Changes are made!!! Our new dates are May 5 - May 12th. We are still at Sports with the free QS dining plan. I have made a few ADRs for our trip, well let me rephrase that.........I have changed a few ADRs, numerous times, for our trip.

The plans are as follows-----
Friday May 4th--Depending on what time Dale is able to break away from work we will leave and drive down to Orlando. We will stay off site for this night since I'm not positive what time, or if, we will be there on Friday.

Saturday May 5th--Check into Sports and get our tickets. If our room is ready we will drop our luggage off, and if not we will head to the park. It will be MK since Dale always wants to hit that park first. If the room is not ready we will just head to the park with our luggage in the car.

Sunday May 6th---We usually decide what park to hit when we get up that morning. We will have the QS dining so we will get some breakfast in the food court. I have made and ADR for us at T-Rex for 3:30 that afternoon.

Monday May 7th--I hope to spend a lot of time with Christie this trip since she will be moving to San Diego not long after this trip. I don't care what park we go to and no days are planned, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that we get to spend A LOT of time together. I haven't planned any ADRs for this day.

Tuesday May 8th----Again no set plans. Those that know me know that we fly by the seat of our pants on our trips and really don't make plans for which day we go to the parks. We will eat breakfast at the food court since Dallas really enjoys breakfast. I am more of a danish type at breakfast.

Wednesday May 9th--I have an ADR for 2:10 at Kona. I love Kona and the Lapu Lapu. Maybe Christie, Tyler and Chris can join us(or just Christie and Tyler if Chris can't)to have a nice lunch and a GREAT drink. If not, then just some quality time in the parks!!

Thursday May 10th------No plans. I really need to look at the EMH calendars don't I?............:lmao:

Friday May 11th ------Again eat breakfast at the resort. We will head back to what ever park we missed certain rides in then end the day at MK. We have an ADR at Tony's for 2:00. Dale LOVES Tony's and we try to eat there at least once during our long trips.

Saturday May 12th---get up at around 4am check out and drive home. We usually pack the car up the night before so we just have minimal stuff to pack on check out day. If it were up to me we would hit the MK for ONE more ride on BTM, but Dale likes to get out of town before the sun comes up :sad2:.

So those are the plans as we stand. Who know what the changes may be AFTER I have surgery . I just know that if Dale mentions canceling the trip until December again, I might just crack. You would think that someone who lives with me on a daily basis KNOWS that I am a basket case and the only thing keeping me semi-sane is planning this Disney trip :rolleyes1.

Few hints in there for me huh? LOL Yea, we can come and see you quite a bit. At least me and Tyler. As of right now, Chris' last day in Miami is Friday the 18th, which is actually his birthday!! LOL I'll pencil you in on my calendar, just in case you change it up a bit. And, with family and such, gotta spend time with EVERYONE before we go!! gee, kinda feels like we're going away forever!!! HAHA

Mardi Gras in Mobile, Alabama is the oldest annual Carnival celebration in America, having begun in 1703, over 15 years before New Orleans was founded.

In 1867, following the American Civil War and while Mobile was still under Union occupation, Joe Cain paraded through the streets of Mobile, dressed in improvised costume depicting a fictional Chickasaw chief named Slacabamorinico. The choice was a backhanded insult to the Union forces in that the Chickasaw tribe had never been defeated in war. Joe was joined by six other Confederate veterans, parading in a decorated coal wagon, playing drums and horns, and the group became the "L. C. Minstrel Band", now commonly referred to as the "Lost Cause Minstrels" of Mobile.(Mobile Bay Convention)

This coming Sunday is Joe Cain Day here in Mobile and it is one of the biggest parades of the Mardi Gras season. The floats are mostly of the homemade variety. It is one of the Mardi Gras societies that anyone can join, unlike the more exclusive societies.

I am going downtown to partake in the revelry of Joe Cain day!! My boss happens to own one of the oldest buildings in Mobile and she has graciously auctioned off her private balcony of said building. I am lucky in that Amanda works for our IT department and they won the auction, so I will be spending Sunday at the Battle House Hotel.

The Battle House Hotel was opened by James Battle and his two half-nephews John and Samuel in 1852 on the site of a former military headquarters set up by Andrew Jackson during the War of 1812. The Battle House offers both historic ambience and modern amenities. This eight-story downtown hotel has been thoroughly renovated and expanded. Its newest guest rooms are within the neighboring RSA Battle House Tower, the tallest building in Alabama. (about.com)

Joe Cain day is the big kick off to the last few days of the Mardi Gras party which will end on Mardi Gras day February 21st. Mardi Gras day is also known as Fat Tuesday(or Shrove Tuesday) and to all of my Catholic friends we know that Wednesday is the start of Lent, or Ash Wednesday which is 46 days before Easter.

As a Catholic I have to decide what I will give up for Lent and as a native Mobilian I say I will give up Mardi Gras!!

I so hope not!! I am so ready for a vacation!! I went online last night to check and see if I can go on vacation while on WC, and from all that I read there isn't any reason I can't as long as my MD gives me the OK. I want to hurry up an get this surgery over with so I can be at least 6 weeks out from surgery before we leave!!

Let's just hope that this change sticks!

Don't you know it!!! As I said to Christie, I want to get this over with so I can get on with my life!!!

:sad1::sad1:Was so looking forward to seeing you but the most important thing is getting that darn shoulder fixed! Glad you were able to change your dates and get what you want...one of these years the stars will align and we'll all be there at the same time:thumbsup2
