Im sooo glad someone finally posted something (:
I will be cruising with my mom and dad. I will be 13 years old when we cruise! I hope there will be other girls in my aga range for me to meet up with!

Hi, we're on this cruise too! It'll be me, DH, and our (then) 16 yo daughter. It'll be our 5th Disney cruise (yay, finally gold) but our first western Caribbean so we're really excited. Only 11 months to go! :cool1:

We'll be cruising when many schools are on spring break so you'll find lots of friends. :) The best suggestion I have is to go to the kids club on the first night when they have all the getting-to-know-you activities; that's when a lot of kids make the friends they hang out with the rest of the cruise.

Welcome to the meet! Second post :woohoo:
At dinner i said that i cant wait for the next cruise, then my DH and DD said we just got off our last cruise only two weeks ago! :rotfl:

Just booked the 7 Night Western on the Magic next year, leaving on a Friday the day before the Fantasy's inaugural cruise -so will we be able to see her in port????

I'm Kara, 44 year old work from home mom. Husband Jeff, 41, and daughter Ally who will be 10 when we board but will turn 11 the next day! :cool1:

This will be our second DCL cruise - we just went on the March 26 Eastern cruise this year and Ally had her 10th birthday on board.... seems like we've started a tradition! But Jeff's April 2 birthday this year was not so good..... it was debarkation day......:sad2: Next year he will be celebrating on the Magic!!!!

We had a great FE group on this cruise so hopefully next year will be the same! I'll be glad to organize again as we get closer.......

Now..... ROLL CALL!!!!! :woohoo:

Oh! I just realised you are the McSparklesons!! Your reputation preceeds you! :rotfl: :worship:

I was reading your newest trip report last night - I enjoyed it very much and it looked like you had a magical time. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of it :goodvibes

AHA!!!! I am LOLing right now!!! Yes, we are the McSparklesons!!!! :rotfl2:

And I am sooooo excited to have booked a second cruise!!!! Now maybe YOU will be in my next trip report!!!

We are booked and are very excited. This is our first DCL cruise. My DH and I went on a Carnival cruise for our honeymoon over ten years ago and got so sick (I'm pretty sure we caught our bug before we got on our boat) but neverless we both swore off cruises. We (I) love Disney and thought we give DCL a try. Our party is me (Kelly 35), DH, DS (8) and DD (4). We are also traveling with college friends who have two boys who will be 3 and 6.

I have a lot of learning to do. Like what is FE?

We all ready have our cabin assignments with adjoining rooms with our friends. Will Disney change our room assignments? Are we less likely to get some pixy dust and get in upgrade?

Kelly

I'm deciding whether to be excited or afraid! :rotfl:

We have booked a 10B on Deck 2 near(ish) the laundry room. Lesson learnt from last time at having a room on the wrong side and at the wrong end of the ship :upsidedow :laundy:

Not that it will matter - I will still get lost and get laughed at by the room hosts/hostesses as I pirouette in the middle of the corridor as I head off in the wrong direction! :lmao:

We are room 6631 - we are doing an inside stateroom this trip, going as cheap as possible! But the funny thing is that it is right across from our balcony stateroom that we did this past cruise! So I know EXACTLY where it is and love the location!

I did that dance every time I got off the elevators or stairs. I would usually first head to the wrong side of the ship, then halfway down the hall before I realized I was in the wrong location. Then head back past the elevators and turn the WRONG way in the right hallway!!! So if we bump into each other, we can be clueless together!!!! :rotfl2:

Oh, grasshopper, stick with us..... :rotfl2: I'm not a pro by any stretch, but I did just get off my first DCL cruise last month. And I'm still soooo sad because I miss it soooo much!!!! Yes, it was really that great! :thumbsup2

FE is the fish extender, a pocketed "thing" (for lack of better word) that hangs from the metal fish outside your door... hence "fish" extender.

My FE from this past cruise.... I ordered it on ebay for about $30 and now it's getting a second use next year!!!

The FE exchange is kind of like a secret Santa.... I will compile a list of families who want to participate and then everyone hangs out their FE and you will get little gifts in there from time to time. Some people put small gifts in all the FEs 3 or 4 times on the trip, others would put out one nicer gift. It completely depends on what you want to do.

Here is our FE gifts we gave out....

FEgifts2.jpg

Pocketed lanyards with personalized name badges..... giant candy bars personalized with the cruise info.... (check out Creative DISign thread here on Disboards.....), and magnets....

It was so much fun, especially for the kids. Every time we'd come down the hall toward our room, Ally would race toward the room to see what was in the FE.

And she loved filling other FEs too!

When I made my reservation today, I asked about a guaranty room, which helps when hoping for an upgrade.... I was told today there were no guaranty rooms available but that even when booking a particular stateroom, there is still a chance of an upgrade....

I think if you booked your rooms on the SAME RESERVATION, that you will not be separated, but if it's under separate reservations that are merely linked, there is a chance..... But I'm not sure....

Thanks for sharing your pics. FE sounds like a lot of fun. I'm going to have to get our friends to go in on it too. How many gifts did you bring for your last cruise? I wonder if I could get my mom to make our FE's. I read a post about getting characters to sign pillow cases and already asked my mom to make us 4 for the kids. I'll have to check out that creative thread? Did you make all those magnets?

Our rooms are linked by reservation, we are not on the same reservation number.

Kelly

Kelly - We had 15 families in our FE exchange, which was a perfect number. Not too many, but enough to meet some great people! We also had a DISmeet about an hour before sail away the day we boarded. It was great to run into people throughout the week....

I bought the lanyards in bulk, and then made the name badges - probably about 60 in all..... Then I gave out one candy bar per room (unless they had more than 3 kids and I gave them two.....). Plus the magnets.

I think you will probably be fine with linked reservations, but even if you're not, we found that to go from deck 6 aft (almost all the way at the back, I think there were only 3 rooms behind ours), to deck 4 all the way forward in the theater, only took me 8 minutes to go round trip, and that includes changing clothes in my cabin!!!! Yes, I had a wardrobe malfunction on night.... :rolleyes1 The first couple days we would leave 20 minutes before we had to be somewhere, only to get there 17 minutes early!!! :rotfl2:

Oh, and I bought a personalized pillowcase for Ally (from the same woman on ebay who made my FE) and then I also took 2 picture frame mattes and had them all signed. I had forgotten all about them and then there they were in our room the last night when we got in there after dinner......

Me and my family will be on this cruise as well! It will be me(12) and my mom and dad! This is our second cruise.:cool1:

Count us in! :cool1: It'll be me (Dany), DH, and DD16 - our 5th DCL cruise but first Western. We're in 5622 on deck 5; stayed in that same room once before and just loved how little traffic that section of the ship gets. Sounds like this is going to be a fun group (must go read the McSparkelsons report!) - looking forward to chatting with you all over the next 11 months. :goodvibes

Yay, new ship mates! pirate: :goodvibes

:welcome: Tessy and Dany! :woohoo:

Thanks for the welcome! Not cruise related, but I see by your tickers that you're heading to POFQ soon; can I ask if you've stayed there before? Reason is that DD and I are headed there in 6 weeks (yay!) for a mother-daughter trip and I'd love any special tips you might have. Although we've been to DL many times, it's my first trip to WDW as an adult (last time was in 1978! :scared1:) and her first trip there ever, so we're really excited! :dance3:

ETA: Ok, just noticed in your signature that you stayed at POFQ last December; since you're going again you must have liked it right? I've spent so much time researching and debating over all the hotel choices that I want to make sure I made the right decision!

Sounds like you will be in the Edge with my Ally! Ally will turn 11 the second day of the cruise!!!!

I can't believe it is so far away!!!! Usually we book things within 3 or 4 months, so this is killing me! Although, we planned my parents' 50th anniverary trip to WDW almost 2 years (we go this December!).

It's funny. We have been searching so many other cruises, because I think we all fell in love with cruising, not just DCL, and as we all know, we can cruise for a lot less on other lines..... but Jeff finally admitted he wants to do DCL again while Ally is still so into the characters. Then we will try another line, but something tells me that we will still come back to Disney from time to time....

Yay, new ship mates! pirate: :goodvibes

:welcome: Tessy and Dany! :woohoo:

I second that!!! :thumbsup2

So I invited my in-laws to join us on our cruise. Jeff and I love having our parents spend as much time as possible with Ally. So if they can make it, great, if not, no big whoop, right? After all, we extended the invitation!
