March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

Thanks for the warm welcome!!

Just a question about checking in on the 13th at the port in San Pedro. I read on another board about how it isn't necessary to stand in that long line to register the kids in the Oceaneers Club. Obviously, my kids are pre-registered, but what's the trick (is there one?!!) to avoiding this line? Any insight would be appreciated.

Also, I'm on the Harbor Cruise & Scenic stop tour for Cabo #2. What's the deal with the 6:45 am start?! I'm tempted to cancel- that is CRAZY early! I'm just wondering whether the time changes impact this (and makes it more reasonable). I suspect that we are going to be very confused about time the whole trip, coming from EST zone. :confused3

My kids were starting to pack their little suitcases this morning- mostly toys of course! So cute!

Everyone gets in that line, but it is NOT necessary. You can just as easily get the wristbands and everything done during the family time at the club on the first day. I NEVER wait in that line at port unless there is no line, or I have to stand around anyway. And even then, I'd rather sit around and do nothing than stand in that line :rotfl:.

Just a note for all the Zonies:

Don't forget that March 13 is "Spring Forward" daylight savings. California time and our time will be the same as of 2 am. This could affect your driving plans.

Thanks for the reminder. That means an extra hour we have to wait for the cruise....AUGH!!. lol

Hey Hopelea, we are like you, we book our excursions through DCL for peace of mind more than anything! For all three ports our excursions add up to $362which is reasonable for us...mind you, we are only a family of 3...if we had a much larger group it would definitely be on the pricey side.

:scared1: Well our much larger group of 8 is making me lightheaded on the budget..we're footing the bill for all these kids (3 ours, 3 somebody else's)
We're doing the wildlifeconnections tour in PV...it's $68 a person so for us Cabo will be a nice long walk over to Medano or water taxis...that's it...enjoy the day, the culture...no money spent outside taxi..which I'll negotiate a boat for all of us...we're also taking pesos so hoping that will help keep some costs down..dollar is worth a bit more against the peso right now.

We were going to do Disney our last day when the cruise returns (late flights out) but I just can't see paying that big a $$ for rides that may have long lines...weekends are not good days at DL..I'm used to traveling to the world when there are NO lines, riding Splash Mountain 20x in a row b/c there were no lines! So, we're considering going to Knotts Berry farms for the rollercoasters? Anyone been there? Is it easier to ride rides there than at DL on a Sunday?

Thanks!!!
Tara

We're on that excursion for the 2nd Cabo stop but it starts @ 6:45 and we get there at 7:15. Has something changed? I was going to cancel.

I booked it for the first day so I didn't have to do the earlier time. I know that the time listed is the time that you meet up for the excursion, so that probably just means you will be meeting up for the first tender.... just my guess... I really think you should cancel and re-book for the day we are going :thumbsup2

No, this means we have one less hour to wait! Right??

D.S.T. confuses me every time!

Finished our FE!! The goodie bags for the kids are not going to be easy to transport cause there are 21 of them, the cabin gift will be much easier!! Thinking about shipping them ahead of time, but if for some reason they got lost that would be BAD!! Is anyone else shipping stuff ahead of time?

We have been to Knotts several times and they do not tend to get the long lines like Disney, but it is spring break so there may be some lines! They have tons of "thrill ride" rollercoasters and their theme is Snoopy and friends which is kind of cute. You will also get more of a "teenage" crowd, unlike Disney where it is mainly families. You can get really good deals for Knotts, too. Just google Knotts discounts and you will see. They are way cheaper for a day than Disney. When we go to California we like to do both because you get the magic of Disney and the thrill of Knotts! Any other questions feel free to ask??!!

Thanks so much! This is very helpful...we're dropping one niece off at LAX and picking up a rental van (to store our luggage and drive to the park) how far is the park from LAX? It shows it closes at 7:00..so hoping that's enough time, we should get there by noon. Our flight leaves at midnight! UGH! :)

Thanks!! We'll have all teens so figured the Knotts farm might be more fun after a whole week of Disney! :)

It will take approx 30-45 mins from LAX to Knotts. I think you will be able to do most of it in 7 hours. Just look at a map of the park ahead of time and decide what is most important and hit those first.

OH.....did I have it backwards???? I live in Phoenix AZ, we don't change time so I get confused too! lol:confused3

I get confused all of the time, too!! We are leaving on Saturday to head over there and at that time California will be an hour behind Arizona. So if we get there at say 5pm Arizona time it will only be 4pm California time. Now when we wake up the next morning California will have moved ahead 1 hour so now they will be the same time as Arizona. So going we gain an hour and coming home we stay the same..Kind of nice!!

Sweet. I totally had it backwards. I am headed to Cali on Friday so I can hit the town Friday nigh and Saturday with some friends. :)

I am still trying to figure all of it out!! I guess the ship is the same time in Cabo and 1 hour behind in PV....Very confusing to keep track of!

Thank goodness my Blackberry automatically adjust to the current time at my location. lol. I don't wanna be late.:hourglass

Is anyone else on this board having a hard time working? All I could do today is think about in 23 days we are headed on our cruise. I've even got my co-workers counting down with me now. AHHHHH I'm so ready for this cruise, wish we were leaving tomorrow.

Kathy

Yep, my whole family is having a hard time focusing on real life!! We are all so ready to leave. The only part we dread is leaving our cat at home! He is so much a part of us. We hate the thought of him being alone for 11 days. I do have a friend that is going to check on him every 3 days. He never goes outside. He is a really attached to us. Sleeps iwth my oldest dd every night!! We always feel so bad!

Other than that, we are so ready!!

Ok, so now I am thinking.....
What if others see the sign and show up for a free ride? Like people on another cruise line, or others on this excursion not on our cruise meet....And then not enough room for our party?

Maybe we should confirm all participants from our cruise, and meet before we head out. That way no one gets left behind.
So far I have:
Sonya : party of 5
Our friends....Ken: party of 4
Misty: party of 4 ( plus friends...party of 4 and 2)
Meredith: party of 4

Any one else?
That's 23.

My group says thanks a million. Let me know what the plan is! We can meet at 10:30, where on deck 1?

I'm actually feeling slightly overwhelmed. I think it is because I leave friday for a 3 day weekend to DL with 20 students and my family. Then we come back and 19 days we leave for the cruise. :scared1:

Also, over the weekend my son had a small trampoline accident (I hate those things). I have been back and forth all week to Children's hospital. He has a spinal compression fracture. It sounds worse than it is. He can still do DL this weekend, but no roller coasters. He is so upset, Indy and TOT are his favorites. But he said that at least he's going to be in DL. That is better than school any day.

So much to do so little time.

So sorry to hear that about the injury..Anything involving the spinal cord just sounds like uh-oh. Glad it is not too serious. Have fun this weekend!! We have a trampoline and the first day we got it which happened to also be just 3 days before we were set to leave on our last Disney Cruise my DD fell off and tore ligaments in her ankle. DCL was great and at the terminal they put her in a wheelchair and they let us be the first family to board the ship. She thought she was special!! I also hate the trampolines, but of course, we still have ours!!
