March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

Hello to everyone in this group. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Monica and I live in Mazatlan, Sinaloa Mexico. For anyone on a future Disney cruise to the Mexican Riviera, I am pleased to make myself available to you for any questions about the city of Mazatlan or country of Mexico.

As for myself, I am a resident of both the United States and of Mexico. I speak both English and Spanish fluently and I have sailed on DCL numerous times and have been a lifelong fan of Disney. Let me say right upfront, I am NOT selling anything nor am I affiliated with any business or tour company. I am only here to help and give honest information and opinions in an attempt to make your time in Mazatlan or Mexico a positive experience.

I hope that everyone will welcome me to the discussion and that I can be of assistance to anyone who has a question about my city or country. I will attempt to check the boards once per day, but should I miss a question, please do not hesitate to send me a private message. I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Gracias,
Monica

Just read on my Facebook that they are offering Kids Sail Free for this cruise. (Jan 12-Mar 20....just in time)
DH is working with the reservation right now to get us some savings. Hopefully we can add another kid to our reservation and take a friend along for our daughter.
Hopefully you all can take advantage of this too.

Hi Alison,
I just saw that too and now have a stateroom on hold for this sailing! The funny thing is, we were originally booked on the May 30 Alaska cruise and just switched to the March 13 cruise on the Dream just last night. We have that one under deposit and this one on hold and have 5 days in which to make up our minds. :confused3

So, who wants to sell me on this cruise versus the Dream?

Obviously 3 extra nights for $200 less than a similar stateroom on the Dream is a HUGE plus. And my kids really wanted to do all the activities they mention on the DCL planning DVD as "only on cruises of 7 nights or longer." But airfare for 4 (we're in Alabama and can drive to Port Canaveral) is a HUGE minus.

:cool1: :banana::cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1:

Just saved $335 on the Kids sale free promotion and kept the SPH. Well, actually maybe just over $100 because I knew I lost the 10% but then I lost the $200 OBC. Thanks DU for still giving me the $75. Now I have more time to save money for tips.

So now I have a little more money for the plane ride into LA.

And a lot of time to decide if we need to bring a friend along.

Is there a way to find out if a certain server will be on this sailing? She's still working the Magic in Europe for the summer...but was hoping to switch to the Wonder for the winter cruises. We would love to have her again if she makes the switch!

I just found out about the Kids Sail Free this morning. Waiting for TA to call me back!

I am not sure if this will work for us or not. I called but we will loose our on board credit and booking discount. So need to talk to the hubby to see what he thinks we should do. Hope everyone is having a good day.

We lost our 10% discount and $200 OBC but I still save $748 with the KFMR promotion! I was ecstatic. I've been paying on our cruise every month and with the discount applied...I'm only a couple of months away from paying off our vacation!!! :rotfl:

Love Disney :love: for putting out this promo and coming to California!!! I don't have to pay for airfare and save $$$ on the cruise. Whoo hoo!!!

Today is my birthday, and I woke up and checked my email as usual. All Seasons Travel (our TA) had sent me an email about this promo... So I called imediately before I even finished reading the email. I wanted to find out how to get this savings applied to our date and she said, " oh, we already adjusted your savings yesterday. We went through our bookings of this deal and applied it to you. So you saved 1320$ off your cruise....!!!!!" Now tell me thats not to happy birthday dance over.
PROS
We live in AZ so no airfare
We are going during kids spring break
And on the Wonder!!!
Are their any CONS to this? NO WAY.:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::banana:

My TA called back and we saved about 800 dollars as well. :cool1: We also lost our 200 dollar on board credit for booking aboard :sad1:...so really we only saved about 600 dollars. Still...we came out ahead. Not to be greedy, but wish we could have kept our on board booking bonus.

We thought about booking a dummy date to keep the discount for when the 2012 prices come out in Oct...but finally decided against it. We'd had to put down another 500 bucks for the dummy date plus release our MR booking and rebook it. Would have most likely mean losing our SPH cabin.

Mindy, That is awesome All Seasons already adjusted it for you. That is how we found about it too. We have used them several times, although not for the bookings of the last couple of years.

With this new promotion I bet our cruise meet thread starts growing a lot!!

:bday: Happy Birthday! My birthday was on Thursday! :-)

And that is awesome news about the discount!!! Congrats. I'm as stoked as you - no airfare because we also live in AZ, kids are on spring break when we sail and we've never been on the Wonder. I was tempted to call DCL back and upgrade to a verandah but decided to take my savings and figure out something else to do with it...like maybe staying in one of Disneyland's hotels the night before the cruise!!!

We officially have an FE Gift exchange underway! So far, the following 7 families are participating:

Melsherard
Goofytracy
Jump4joy
Stfnslky
Aliron682
Mindy327
Millissa

If anyone else would like to participate, just reply to this post or send me a pm, I will update the list periodically. You don't have to have kids to participate, and the rule is, give as you want. In other words, if you'd like to give one gift per cabin, or gift to children only, or gift to adults only, or gift to each person individually, then thats what you do. We will in the future need # of adults, # of Children and ages as well as cabin numbers.

As we each find out our cabin number as our cruise approaches, post or pm that info along with the deck number and prior to our travel time, I will get a list to each of you.

What Is An FE Gift Exchange?
FE gift exchanges were created by fellow Dissers a number of years ago. Outside the stateroom doors there is metal FISH Hook for DCL or others to attach important notes or such for you. As part of an FE gift exchange, participants hang a some type of hanging organizer, commonly known as a FISH EXTENDER. Some people make elaborate ones, others hang decorative bags ect. Participants in an FE gift exchange then secretly leave a small gift in the pockets of others Fish extenders. The gift exchange add's more magic to the cruise and It's a real treat to come back to your cabin to find a surprise in your FE! :goodvibes

My family will now be on this cruise as well. I will be shocked if it's not sold out by the time we set sail. With kids sale free and it being spring break- you just can't beat that deal. I looked today and there are only verandah's and higher available. That's only 2 days after announcement of the kids sail free sale. lol. We will have 2 adults and 6 kids ages 5-16. We want to participate in the FE exchange for sure! We have 2 10b inside rooms. Oh, and we are the May family, so add us to the list of FE families!! So excited. How do we pass the next 9 months until our cruise??? That is way too long! I usually don't plan our vacations this far out, but this was a deal we couldn't refuse!!

Hey Nita & everyone else!! We are thinking of changing from October 2011 Mexican Riviera to this one. :scratchin This will be our 9th cruise & 6th Disney cruise. Fall break for 2011 is uncertain here due to new school construction. Might be better to go in spring instead! Anyone know about the weather conditions for spring time on the Mexican Riviera??

Welcome May family!!
I debated getting a Verandah with the money we saved on the new promotion. It's so tempting!!
