March 10 announcement?

If they stuck with a traditional 7 day sailing then I'm guessing Eastern Carib, so they can go to Castaway Cay.

Hmmm...... Somehow I doubt they would try to do an eastern from Galveston. I can definitely see doing some kind of western itinerary, but the eastern ports are too far away from Galveston. Plus, we already know that the Magic is currently scheduled to be at Grand Cayman every week during October, November and December of 2012. So..... I'm guessing a western, but would love to see a southern.

Perhaps a long Christmas cruise with a Southern itinerary.....the Magic is not in GC the week of Christmas 2012, even though it is there everyweek for the preceeding 2 1/2 months. Where will the Magic be for Christmas 2012?

Galveston---COME on Disney!!!! Looks like its gonna be a hoppin' port! If Disney doesn't come, at least we'll have lots of options:confused3.

Often, if you book a return flight (even without the intention to ever use the return leg) it's cheaper than what a One-Way would cost, especially on international flights. Just be sure to book the leg you plan to use as the first, some airlines will cancel the entire ticket if you don't check in for the first flight.

That's what we usually do for TA crossings and the savings are substantial.

For example: In September, from Orlando to Zurich:

$1460 One-Way
$763 Return

Crazy, isn't it?

I never even thought of that! Thanks for the info. It is insane how much a one way ticket is vs a RT.

As it stands we really want to cruise the Dream. It's a shorter cruise with the kids and with these new boat releases, Disney Channel has tons of segments on TV with Disney CM's on the new ship. My ds would hate me for life if I told him we were going on a Disney cruise and we got on the ship, only for him to realize that ship doesn't have the Aquaduck...seriously Disney channel doesn't make it easy for us parents to say no. Honestly though, I live on the west coast, I have never stepped foot in FL, let alone the Atlantic Ocean, so there's several reasons we would really like to cruise on the Dream. Once we do that cruise than I'll be happy to cruise from our "home" port. :woohoo:

According to this article Galveston is about to make another "big cruise announcement" soon. Disney would be pretty big news, here's hoping! :thumbsup2

This article has gotten me excited! Given this article and the GC port schedule, I'm thinking that Galveston might really be happening! I'm probably just setting myself up for disappointment....just like the big March 10 announcement!:rotfl2:

I don't know why everyone says that, Carnival's been doing it for years :confused3 Don't get me wrong I figure they'd do western too, I just know Castaway Cay is a cash cow for them. If Carnival can make it to the Bahamas from here I don't know why the other lines can't....

I am betting the announcement is going to be the Wonder going to Hawaii. They are not going to be doing Mexico runs week after week in this political climate, and they just opened the new DVC resort in HI. Plus, Wonder is going through a 3 week refurb this Fall. I am sure it's gonna be the HI runs...

Roundtrip cruises to Hawaii are pretty popular on other cruise lines, but they are long cruises of at least 14 nights. They would probably sell well in the summer, but I don't know about the spring and fall when kids are in school.

:woohoo: Keeping our fingers crossed and hoping!

Somewhere there was a port schedule for Hawaii that had a spring and fall berth booked for Disney. Does anyone know where that is to check for more berths?

I could see them possibly doing Nassau and Castaway Cay, along with GC, but I think the ports that are further east of the Bahamas (San Juan, St. Thomas St. Maarten, etc.) would be too far to go on a 7 night cruise. Personally, I hope they do not do Nassau - we've been there too many times already, and don't even leave the ship there any more.

This might sound crazy, but I don’t know why DCL even stops in Nassau, the port is just blah, if you did it once you would be ok and if you did it twice than it would defiantly be enough. Could DCL replace Nassau with another port on the 3 and 4 night sailings? I really wouldn’t mind even staying at Castaway Cay longer.

I don't have the link to post....but the Hawaii port reservations for 2 days are at the end of May and again in early Sept (I think) for the Wonder, so it's def just a repositioning to somewhere further away like Asia. That being said, if they're about to announce something huge like that, I'm SURE we'll know about the announcement.....think about how much they pumped up the Alaska announcement, with the Donald video and all...

The link was over in the "Wonder Summer 2012?" thread, but I can't copy links from my iPhone, sorry! (Or at least it'd take me awhile to figure out!)

It could also be a repositioning between Vancouver and LA. Many of the other cruise lines call on Hawaii during their repositioning cruises between their summer home port for Alaska and their winter home port for MR.

I could see Disney Breaking a contract if they can fill the ship elsewhere. Especially with the problems in Mexico and Asia. I do not see other ports listed for Hawaii those other lines do other ports maybe they are just waiting. Having done a hawaii minimum from Canada is 12 nights. I don't think they would do just Canada and Oahu., Just have to wait and see.

Well, the big island also has a port, and, possibly Maui. So people could hit 3 islands from Canada.
Personally, I'd love a cruise running from HI to the South Pacific, but such a cruise would be very time-prohibitive for me and the family. It's a great dream though!

I will be on a 12-night repositioning cruise from Honolulu to Vancouver in April 2012, and it goes to 4 of the islands: Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii (the big island).
