Anyone get any good shots of last weekends races? I'd love to see any Disney Marathon shots. I signed up for the Goofy race for next year and really don't have a good sense for what I'm getting into (obviously, or I probably wouldn't have signed up for it).

I'm thinking that I'll take less gear than on my last trip, at least for the running part. I can't see myself running with a tripod, a DSLR, and several lenses.

if you were to carry all that gear in the race, you would be "Certifiable Goofy":lmao:

I'll be sure to use a lens cradle if I run with the 70-200 f/2.8 on the camera. ;)

well that darn near caused me to spray diet coke all over my monitor:lmao:

actually the lens cradle would be good for keeping your 70-200 2.8 handy while you run:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

so are you thinking that the runners in front of you will be that far ahead that you'll need the 70-200 to take their picture..

Mark,
I did the half a couple of years ago and only brought a small digital camera. For me personally, I couldn't lug my SLR along and still stay in front of the sweepers. It was pitch black when the races started so nothing would turn out.
Since you are doing the Goofy, you could get a feel for things the first day and then see if you might be able to handle your SLR on the 2nd day. I am not sure what the rules would be. We weren't supposed to bring ipods but most had those and it wasn't a problem.

Have you checked out the events subboard under the WISH board? They might have better info for you! Good luck with your training! http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=109

I took more but only got home last night so I haven't had time to upload them yet.

I was very close to doing that for our trip last January... only in reverse, with the Mickey head shaved out rather than everything but. But for whatever reason, never got around to it.

Then I'd shave the whole thing when I got back home. :)

Re: marathon photos... I don't think that I actually have any, but somehow it seems like I've been unintentionally following marathons. The last two WDW trips overlapped their January marathon, and there was a marathon in DL when we were there in August! So I've seen lots of runners but didn't photograph them.

My concern was more in "how do we get from one side of the 'track' to the other?" (Answer: there are CMs manning "crosswalks" at certain intervals, when there's a break in runners, they send folks across. Hint: beward of parents pushing fast-moving strollers! :lmao: )

Anyway, I'm half-expecting an impromptu marathon to break out when we're at WDW in late April. :)
