Marathon Weekend 2025

I’m struggling with thermal tights vs. regular tights for the half. I’ll decide morning-of, but I have NO experience with thermal (brushed on the inside and thicker than my non-thermal tights) tights and rain - do they get really heavy when soaked? Even if they do, will I not care because they’ll still keep me warm-ish?! I hate this forecast… :headache:
There's a big difference in warmth for sure, but if it's in the 60s I don't think you'll want thermal. Unless the outer layer is water resistant, yes they will soak up water like a sponge in my experience.

Ugh, but thank you. My CRZ Yoga ones are the more comfortable, but feel more likely to soak up rain. My Athleta ones I think will be less heavy when wet, but aren’t as comfortable and have the most annoying zipper pockets. Then again, if it’s cold enough that I’m wearing them. I’ll also be wearing a jacket, which has abundant, easier access pockets. I suppose I should just pack them both so I’ll have the options at hand. You know, in addition to the regular tights, capris, and shorts. Have I mentioned hat I hate this forecast?! :rotfl:

They're the Rainier leggings aren't they? I have two pair and I love everything else about them, but those pockets SUCK!
YES!!! I swear, if they’d had anyone actually test those things before production, they’d have known how bad they were, lol! They make me irrationally angry every time I use them and need to access my phone. :rotfl2:

MCO! But wow it’s cold! (I say this having left home where it was -13c/ 8F this morning)
definitely packing the grumpy sweatshirt and an extra running layer.

DS is running the half and he's not sure what he wants. 50 and rainy would normally be short sleeves for him (basically a rugby match) I told him to bring dry layers for after the race at least.

Checked in for flight. last normal day of work this week. (although with a 5 hour flight it's screaming "work a few hours so you don't have to burn some PTO tomorrow).

I did get to bed earlier the past few days but thanks to Alaska for moving our flight up to 7 am from 9:30 when it was originally booked, we're all adopting eastern time Tomorrow. 3:30 wake up and 4 PT on the road to the airport.

I’m on my last flight! We’re leaving about a half hour late due to a delayed flight attendant.

I chose a row where the flight attendant was standing, and when I told her about going down to Disney to run Dopey (and explained what it was) she asked my name and said she’d pray for me 😁😁

I'd go with the regular ones. They'll absorb less moisture and you won't run the risk of overheating later in the race.

Other than sharing this link, do I need to do anything to show up in the tracker so my family can track me? Do they show names or just bib numbers? This race thing is “a whole new world” to me…as Jasmine would say…

Your family just needs to type in either your name or bib number, and then the tracking will work for them. The information shows both your name and your bib number, and will track you at various distance markers. Historically:

10k tracks at start, 5k, finish
HM tracks at start, 5k, 10k, 15k, finish
M tracks at start, 5 mile, 10 mile, HM, 20 mile, finish

The system is not perfect. So if they are tracking you for the purpose of spectating live in locations, then be aware we have seen delays in the system before (usually around it sending texts/emails which it doesn't appear to be doing anymore). However, more often than not, the system is very good. I personally pay attention to the time of day it says someone crosses if I were tracking them in person.

Oh, there’s no danger of me overheating if the temp is less than 60º - I have never been so cold in my life as I was in and after Wine & Dine 2014, AKA Splash & Dash. Temp then was low 60s and pouring rain and I wound up hypothermic in regular weight capris and a short sleeve shirt under a rain jacket. Literally shivered nonstop for hours, even under 3 layers of fresh, dry clothes. My body does not handle cold well, at all! But soggy tights sounds awful too. I’m legitimately worried that if temps don’t come up a bit, I’ll be in trouble with this one.

Are you able to get a pair of splash pants you could put overtop of whichever tights you decide on? I don't mind the cold and I don't mind the rain, but both together sucks so much.
