Marathon Weekend 2025

I was up at 4 after 6ish hours of sleep, standing at the gate at BTV waiting to board. The negative about a small airport is I'm always connecting (DTW this time), but it took all of 5 minutes to check my bag and get through security.

Safe travels to everyone heading down today!
I'll wave to all the planes overhead when I'm out for my run this morning--one of them may be your incoming!

@MissLiss279 Sorry about your pup. I know that feeling. We adopted our dog Buddy who came complete with the shaved stomach where they operated on him because he ate a towel--or they suspected he did. He once ate a KinderEgg--the whole thing, including the plastic capsule. I think that time we managed to avoid the surgery as they gave him the old Hydrogen Peroxide solution and he regurgitated it. The capsule was intact and the toy inside was dry!

I know I’ve got a few days yet for things to change, but won’t have much time for changes to what I’ve packed, so I think I’m calling the audible and changing my costume for the half: bye Fireside Girl, hello Sparkly Skirt and Some Ears. I guess if I do a blue skirt, white top, Minnie ears, and can find that roll of white duct tape to write my name on, I can channel the “retro” theme and be a Mouseketeer.

Just waved goodbye to my family, they are leaving me for WDW.... while I go into work.... lol... I have to wait till 6 pm... I am seriously questioning how much I need my pay check, lol.

Ohh and it is snowing in Denver... so far not much snow, just a couple of inches. Most schools are still open today. Soo hoping traveling won't be to much impacted. Denver knows how to deal with snow.

Not to add any stress, but the Denver airport is actually notorious for not dealing with snow well. It's kind of hilarious considering where they are! But they've had a few days now to dig out from the last wave, so you should be good.

Early morning wake up call to take my son to the airport so he can catch his flight back to school. Hopefully he makes it though. Connecting through DC to Knoxville.

On the drive back from MCO, got the notice that our room was ready at CBR. Dang, that was quick. Packed up our room at AS Sports and headed over to CBR. Trip to the airport and resort change all before 8am! It's a catch up on work day after being in the parks for the past three days. Definitely have seen a few runners out for a cold early morning run between the two resorts.

@Naomeri if DH and I get an early VQ tomorrow, we are happy to carpool with you (we have a rental) to the expo!
Thanks! I'll keep that in mind, but I'm also ok taking a Lyft if you guys don't want to get there so early (I have to get there before they start letting in the Golds at 9am--I liked the old system that let platinum bypass the line as long as they arrived before 10 🙃)

I ran slightly after race time this morning. Temperature was 42, perfect for a low HR moderate pace shakeout after the long flight. The wind, though. That's some brisk northern air. Standing around waiting in the corrals will be chilly.

I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate this community. I found this site in 2017 while training for my first marathon and first MW. This is such a friendly place. I joined some of the FB groups when I was looking for a charity bib, have not engaged, but the negativity in many of the posts and replies is really off putting. Made remember what a great place this is. Have a great race weekend everyone!!!

That's why I brought cheap ponchos--less hassle than trying to keep mylar wrapped around me, but totally capable of keeping wind off me. Plus, they're clear, so my bib will be visible.

Heading into MK now. That 42 plus wind is hitting cold waiting around for a bus.

Based on the appearance of the website at this moment in time, the only option is to keep the tracking website open. In the past it allowed text messages or emails (with a workaround to make emails into texts), but it's not currently showing that functionality. Doubtful it'll change, but maybe.

For those looking for the link - https://track.rtrt.me/e/WDW-WDW-2025#/tracker
Other than sharing this link, do I need to do anything to show up in the tracker so my family can track me? Do they show names or just bib numbers? This race thing is “a whole new world” to me…as Jasmine would say…

I haven’t even left my house yet today, but the current temp is 42º with a Feels Like of 31º and old FL homes are not built for this - I’m FREEZING! Heat is cranking, but the cold is seeping through the walls. I hope you all get some sun today to warm things up a bit!

I’m struggling with thermal tights vs. regular tights for the half. I’ll decide morning-of, but I have NO experience with thermal (brushed on the inside and thicker than my non-thermal tights) tights and rain - do they get really heavy when soaked? Even if they do, will I not care because they’ll still keep me warm-ish?! I hate this forecast… :headache:

Since Saturday is the “warm” day with forecasted feels-like in the fifties for the whole time, I’d probably go for the regular.
