Hi

I would like to ask for your expertise to solve the following problem.

We got our wedding portait photos , taken from a bridal studio. Photos can be found at
http://www.mabelandterence.com

You will see 3 sets of tuxedo and gowns.

Prior to photo-shooting day, the studio person did not edit the first gown (the one with silk pink flowers on it) , it turned out it's very loose on her body, even though clips were applied to tighten up. We didnt realize how bad it is until we got the photos. She looks quite fat on her body and her face.(Look at the photo where I stand behind her closely, you can tell, her body looks wide . She looks much slimmer with her 2nd gown)

What effects/ technique can be applied to the photo to make her look slimmer? Pls let me know in details

We know for sure the studio won't do anything on it. The only choice would be myself trying to correct it with Adobe Photoshop . (but i have very basic skills though)

Thanks !!

Terence

This isn't the answer, but I think she looks gorgeous in all the pictures.

Ok, first I wanna say that I think she looks amazing in EVERY one of those pictures.

I don't know if there really is anything that can be done to edit that picture to make her look slimmer. The reason I say that is because I don't think it is the dress that makes it look that way. It looks to me as if it is the positioning of your hands and her elbows, along with the way the dress puffs out past her waste that gives that illusion.

WIth all of the beautiful pictures that I saw I would just take that one as "not the best" wedding photograph that was taken. It is still beautiful though.

first and foremost I hope you didn't tell her she looks fat in that picture, if you want a long and happy marriage,NEVER EVER tell her she looks fat...

second I don't think she looks fat I just think it looks like she's wearing a fuller dress....or a poofy dress as my niece would call it..

the tilt of her head isn't the most flattering angle, but she still looks great,

a lot of women would kill to look half that good,

I agree with andromedaslove "WIth all of the beautiful pictures that I saw I would just take that one as "not the best" wedding photograph that was taken. It is still beautiful though. "

Hehe i wanna tell you that i did mention that she looks fat in the picture AND I STILL SURVIVE :thumbsup2

Well seriously we both have similar opinion.
We know that the studio photographer won't reshoot photos again for free

So the only way we can make the photos better is to seek for photoshop techniques/tricks to make her body (and face) look slimmer, if anyone knows, let me know what technique is called and i may either do it myself and ask other photo lab to assist.

I have seen people doing that (such as adding shadow)before

although she may say she looks fat and you survived by agreeing, it's still not good to do, it will hurt her and come back to haunt you someday....

women want their men to be honest, but not that honest..

In 20 years from now, she will look back on those pictures and think "I can't believe I thought I looked fat!!"

I'm thinking you might be able to elongate the whole image -- both of you would end up looking taller and thinner. Don't ask me how, though.

Hee hee I was thinking the same thing!!
I look at mine and say "I wish I could get back into that dress"!
:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :dumbo:

There is a function under filter in Photoshop CS2 that you can use. It is called liquify. I have used it to take the pounds off people.

Tchan,

from looking at all those pictures, there are two things that the photographer needs to do:

1. Make sure your wife NEVER press her arms against her body, that makes the arms look wider that they actually are giving the illusion of fatness

2. Make sure the facial shot is not full-frontal. With the her face structure, once she smiles and takes a frontal shot, her face will turn rounder, again giving the illusion of fatness

Completely off topic... if your wife is any slimmer, she'll disappear.

I don't see a problem. The pictures look great.

I'd go back and tell her that you actually had just had a few beers and were drunk when you agreed about the 'fat' comment and the alcohol affected your sound reasoning. :drinking: Thus being drunk you thought that as a new husband you had to agree with everything your wife said even if you think she is wrong. So now you will never drink again so that you will never agree that she looks fat in any picture because you know that that is impossible.

Yeah, use that story. That will work.:thumbsup2

Seriously though, she definately doesn't look fat.

Omg..what is she, a size 2?!

A pet peeve of mine is when someone who is super skinny thinks that they look fat. Honey, I'll SHOW you fat. :teeth: Thankfully, my wife loves my curves.

yeah that

i hope she doesn't gain weight when she's pregnant

I think all the pictures are absolutely gorgeous. You guys look really nice together - I didn't notice that she looked large AT ALL.

Don't mean to be a killjoy, but as members of photography board, we should try to address tchan03's question. Saying "your wife is tiny" does not answer his question, regardless how truly tiny she is.

hmm, you didn't answer his question either, you just suggested how to avoid the problem in the future.. :wave2: :wave2:

yeah I know, I'm one of the joyriders (hence I asked everybody -- myself included -- to tackle the problem) :)

Isn't that the truth! LOL

I think she looks beautiful (and thin!) in all of them and not even the slightest bit heavy. I would be afraid that if you tried to do any editing to make her look different that its going to end up looking sort of distorted which will be even less flattering.

Congrats to both of you! You both look wonderful!
