First, sorry for my lack of DISing today! We had no power! I am at Lauren's and we had a couple of trees go down in the neighborhood or something and had no power all evening. NO DIS! :scared1: And no Facebook or ANYTHING! Scary. Really.

Yes, TRex does take ressies, I actually made one for Friday night, but now I am re-thinking things. We get to Orlando at 2:45 on Monday, but I know we have to go to orientation, which I think I have heard is at 7:00. I thought about doing it that night, but was worried we would be out too late and too tired to do Disney the next day.
Does IOA take all day? Or is it something that you can get through by 6 or 7? We could do it in the evening after that, maybe??
We are only staying June 22-28. So really only have 5 full days. 3 at Disney and probably the other 2 at Universal and IOA. Would like to squeeze in Sea World, but if something gets left out, it will probably be that.
I would like to get ressies for the Universal Breakfast, (I sent them an email, but haven't heard back yet, need to check on that) which is only on Thursday morning, so probably will do US that day and try to leave a bit early for the Christmas party.
Whew! It is going to be a busy week!!!
Mary Anne

Wow! That is going to be a busy week!!

I would probably do it on a Universal Day to save your Disney days! I think your very first day will probably be pretty full with getting settled at GKTW and the stuff you can do there! :)

Hay I have a qustion?.... Could a family stay at GKTW if they are not on a wish trip? Lets say a previous wish family is coming back to Florida for another trip (non-wish) could that family stay at the village if they like payed for there villa out of there own pockets??? The reason I ask is cause when we were getting ready to go on DD wish trip we thought we were going to need 2 villas and I asked our MAW granters how much another one would cost and she told me and we were willing to pay for the extra one our selfs. Turns out we did not need it after all but I will still like to know if that is possible for a future trip.

No, they only let families stay if they are on an official wish from one of the wish granting organizations.

They will give 2 villas to one family if they have too many people in their family...I think the villas sleep 7...so if you had 8, for example, you may get 2 villas!

Getting so excited! Got lots of plans, including ideas of where we can eat at each park. Don't worry, I'm completely flexible. I just like to have a plan so we don't stand around, going, "Um, where should we eat? ..."

We're planning on just "grazing" through Epcot. I've written down some of the things people rave about, like:

Canada – Maple Sugar Candy.
Norway – School Bread
Mexico -- churros
Japan -- Kaki gori
Italy -- Bellini
French bakery – Napoleon, Coconut pyramid, peach tart

So what's the problem? Um, it's all sweet stuff! So??? :rotfl2:

Okay, so, what are some "not sweet" counter service things that you love at Epcot?

Aw man...you also have to get a pretzel from Germany! :)

Your missing my favorite of all. Kringla Sweet Pretzel from Norway.
Other favorites are Dole Whip Floats from Adventureland and Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches from the Main Street Bakery.

Dave...I love it! Just jumping right on in! Dole Whip...definitely! Never had a Cookie Ice Cream...but are those in Epcot? :confused3

Ok WDW Goddesses (& Gods):

We got our dates today, we will be at GKTW from 5/15-21.

Micah's wish was "I want to meet Mickey Mouse", end of discussion.

SO, as a Disney Rookie how on earth do I figure out the best way to accomplish this. I'm thinking a character meal, but I can't figure out which one has Mickey????

HELP PLEASE!!!!!

First...and I am sorry if I already asked this...

Do you have 8 kids? That will make a BIG difference in the answer to this question...

Aw!! Micah will be able to meet Mickey LOTS of times!

As a Wish family, you don't have to pay for a character breakfast just to meet Mickey. You can, of course, pay for a character meal...but you don't have to.

You will get to meet Mickey at least once at GKTW...The photos are on Monday and Thursday mornings...you get to meet Mickey and Minnie and a few other characters. The other characters differ, but Mickey and Minnie are always there (Each Monday and Thursday). At GKTW, this is the only real place you might have to wait a little while to meet Mickey, though.

At ALL of the character lines in the parks, you don't have to wait. Make SURE the CM sees your magic button!!! They really, really don't want MAW families to wait. If they miss the button, don't see it and you wait, they get upset. So make sure they see it. :thumbsup2 Mickey can be found in all 4 parks many times during the day...just ask a CM and they can help you find Mickey! You won't have to wait and those encounters are very magical!

You can do a character breakfast. We meet Mickey at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary resort. It is convenient because it is on the monorail system and you can see the cool hotel with the monorail going right through it. Most kids think that is pretty awesome! :) But it is pricey...especially if you have 8 kids!

I'm sure your wish 'people' will help you out with setting something up for you. But here are a few ideas where To find Mickey; MK- Mickey's House Toontown AK- Camp Mini Mickey DHS- Near the sorcerers hat Character Meals- Chef Mickey's, 'Ohana (breakfast)

I'm sure someone else out there can add to this! Congrats on the dates!!!:thumbsup2

Tim

Very good point! If you ask your Wish Granters if your family can do a character meal, they may "set it up" for you and pay for it! :thumbsup2 Lauren asked for a makeover at some point in the wish process and they set it up for us...and paid for it...which was very nice.

Mickey is all over the place. He is in the Judges tent at Toontown,MK and at the Character Connection at EP, I know he also shows up at a few character meals but I too am not certain of which other then Chef Mickeys. I am pretty certain that he also hangs out at 1900 parkfair. We met him several times at the Disney Visa meet & greet in the Inoventions pavilion at EP. This one is only open to Disney Visa holders and also has a free 5x7 photo voucher.

If you post your question on the restaurant board, you will get a definitive answer as to which meals have mouse.

The Disney Visa meet and greet also allows Wish Kids. Just show them your button. You actually don't have to have the Disney Visa to go there...since you are on a wish trip. And you get the free photo, too!! :)

There are also several special VIP lounges that Wish Kids are welcome to go to...And they will set up a meet with Mickey, too...if you find the "right" CM... :)

When I read the last line of your answer...It sounded like they were eating "mouse" :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Dave...thank you so much for jumping in with your help!!!! :)

And don't forget that Mickey and Minnie come to GKTW for photo shoots on (please confirm the date, someone...it's been several months!) Thursdays. It's not the longest visit, but it's a lovely one.

Be sure to visit the Wish Lounge, talk to the CMs and tell them about this special aspect of the wish. They'll be sure to give you the inside scoop on where Mickey can best be met in the MK that day.

Alison

You are right! :) Monday and Thursdays these days...at 8:00 and 9:30...I would recommend the 8:00 and get there a little early if you are trying to get to the parks fast...

And Wish Lounge!! Exactly!

Oooh, yum. I know about the other two, but what are the Sweet Pretzels like?

There are 2 different ones. The first has sliced almonds the second has a chocolate drizzle. We all preferred the almond one. The pretzel is self was a little more like a yeast raised doughnut then a pretzel. They are huge BTW. Those plates are about 9" wide.

And there are 3 more posts since I was writing my long one before!!! :scared1:

I promised an update on Mark's botox injections today. Once again, he was a real trooper! He was pretty anxious on the way to the hospital, but took it well. One of the nurses in the short stay unit actually remembered our family from our boys' 3.5 month stay 10 years ago. She had been with our boys quite a bit.

Mark did very well. A big milestone was that he agreed to take the sedative (medazalan) by mouth - an important requirement for us to one day get rid of his feeding tube. (Now if we could just get hime to eat enough!!!) He only complained a bit about the bitterness, although I thought it had a nice chocolate mint smell...but he drank it, after all! He'd been playing a little on Nintendogs, but after the seadative was given, I settled him down, listening to his hypnosis/relaxation CD on my ipod. It really kept him quiet, and he was still listening when it was time to start the injections. Sure they hurt (despite the topical freezingm they still hurt), but he was strong through the first 4 - in the hamstrings - and only got a bit weepy during the last 4 - in the gastrocs.

He was pretty loopy for quite a while. Even when I brought him home (after the requisite blue freezie!), he was pretty much a deadweight, a bit droopy in the head, a bit slurred in his speech (which he gets when he is tired) and just generally behaving like he's been on a bender. In fact, he asked me if this is what it felt like to be drunk. Of course, I told him I had no idea...!!! He had the usual ongoing discomfort in his leg muscles for the afternoon, but that seemed to subside.

Tomorrow begins the stretching regimen to maximize the benefits from the injections. Tonight, he complained a bit about the process, but when reminded that botox and his relatively high level of mobility and activity help to keep his muscles with better range of motion and help to avoid surgery, he went back to feeling good about today.

He has a lot to feel proud about this week!

Alison

Wow...I am so glad he did well! Lauren gets stretched every morning. We know how that goes.

Tell him that we are thinking about you guys!!!!

Sounds like our day in Epcot, I don't know what is wrong with it. :confused3 School bread was my favorite, I wish I had gone back and gotten more. The Kaki gori was also a favorite.

Wow how did I miss those, they look incredible. I will have to remember those if we ever get back to WDW.

 WHEW you just can't miss any days around here now!! This thread is growing like wild fire!! I don't know what I've missed. I'll try to skim through sometime later today. After I've gotten some sleep!!;) Or maybe Maroo will give me an update or a skimthrough of anything important????:flower3:

Braeton has been fighting his allergies and asthma. now his cough has settled in his lungs and despite several days of antibiotics started running fever. So we are havin a few hectic days around here. DH has gotten to where on Dialysis days he can't do anything he's so worn out so it's just me on those days. Good news is Tyler is doing much better and since I'm homeschooling him now he is able to help me out quite a bit!!:goodvibes

WELCOME!!
iT IS NOT FINISHED BUT IF YOU GO TO MY tR YOU WILL SEE WE SAW mICKEY LOTS!! Mickey and Pooh were Braetons wish! They were all great but Mickey at the Judges tent beside Mickeys house was AWESOME!!!!!! Just let the handler or a CM know wherever you are at that Mickey is at that Mickey was your childs wish. They were just awesome with Braeton. We had the meet and greet at the Tent and 3 character meals planned. chef Mickeys, Garden Grill and Cape May cafe. We also went to Crystal Palace which has Pooh and friends and was our favorite buffet. DH and I are going when we go back in Aug.

AWWWW Bless him!! I know those routines all too well!! Does he get the amnesia like meds before they give him the shots??? Braeton does and to this day he just thinks he gets toys on certain Drs visits!!! ;)

THANK YOU ALL!!!! :yay:

Ok, I expected we would see him around WDW, but thanks for the heads up on GKTW and also on being able to use our MAW buttons. This is a whole new world for me, having never been to Disney before.

We are considering doing a character meal just to have done it, and I like the idea someone mentioned of the one at the Contemporary resort--so THANK YOU again.

You all are great, I'm just starting to get an understand of what we about to do and appreciate all the great information.

You are very welcome!! Please feel free to ask any questions!!

Also...would you be interested in an excel sheet "planner?"... I do this free for any Wish Family.

I would need some basic information, but then I use that information to sort of map out which parks may be best on which days...and try to fit in the GKTW activities that you don't want to miss, the parks you want to visit, any extra stuff (like the beach) that you are doing and the nighttime activities.

If you are interested, let me know here and I will send you a PM that can get me the info I would need to use to plan it. I also include the www.touringplans.com information that we have...including crowd scores and the best parks for the day (fewer crowds).

Glad you are getting something out the thread! :) Chef Mickey's will be lots of fun!!! :)

I would love to have one of your planner sheets. I am overwhelmd trying to plan this trip in such a short period of time. However, at least the wait is not so long!

Thanks,

I will be GLAD to do one for you!!! :)

You were actually on my "list" in my head to send a PM to today to get the info to do one. :)

I will send you the info as soon as I get home from work...as it is in my computer at home! Will that work? I need to work on some planners tonight...so I can work on this one, too!

Tom:

Welcome to the DIS. Another wish family benefit you may not know about are the VIP lounges that are available to you. There are the VIP lounges at Epcot and I believe DHS and then there is also a Wish family lounge at MK. The CM's at the Wish Family lounge have bottled water and will help with parade seating. If there is a particular character that Micah is interested in (like Mickey) you can let them know. They can't always arrange a meeting, but there are some instances where they can. One wish family really wanted to meet Peter Pan and not only did they see Peter in the wish lounge, he also called out to the wish child from the float in the parade and told him he had fun playing with him and would see him again later. If the Mickey and Minnie encounter at GKTW leaves Micah wanting more, the wish lounge CM's may be able to help you.

Hey all! We are back home from hospital. Noah is doing much better. I can't believe how chatty you all have been! Welcome to all the new wish families! Once I get some time, I will have to try and catch up on this thread.

I have a question for you previous wish families. I have been looking through our world passport and we are missing every other page! (All the even pages). Just wondering if anyone here has all the pages?? I'd love to get the info to see if there is any places we could get to this year. Feel free to pm me!

I am so excited that Noah is doing so well!! (Cheating from your blog) It sounds like he has LOTS of energy and doing great! :) I am so happy for you guys.

Yeah...this thread has been hopping for days now! :)

I would call GKTW and see if they can get you a new world passport! You will be missing out on half of the fun! Plus, I would guess that they may have other passports that printed the same way and they may want to pull those? :confused3 GKTW is 800-995-KIDS....just so you don't have to look it up. :)

How are Joshua and Kailyn feeling?

I am so glad you are back on with us! :) Maybe, once you are caught up at home and all, we can hear some more about that magical trip! ;) Shameless...I know. :sad2:
