Hi! We're attending our first MNSSHP in a few weeks, on a Tuesday night. We've got hoppers, so planning on getting there when we feel like it, but no earlier than mid-afternoon. (We'll be in costumes, if that matters.) Have an ADR for Skipper Canteen for 4:35 pm and are wanting to do just drinks and share an appetizer or two, but not have a full meal. We want to do party food later! I can't imagine there'd be a problem with this plan, but also haven't been to MK since adult beverages were available anywhere except Be Our Guest. Am I throwing any red flags with this plan?

Yes but have you looked at their drink menu? It’s pretty limited and they don’t have a full bar. If you’re really just after pre-party drinks I’d hit up a monorail resort bar like enchanted rose, outer rim or waililu depending on what menu appeals. Easy to get to MK from all of them.

I’m kind of fond of the cold Stella. Never thought that I would be able to have that opportunity. I’m not sure if it’s an entree but the duck fried rice is fantastic.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yep, have checked out menus. That's why we're at Skipper Canteen vs Tony's or the Plaza. We're not comfortable going in costumes to a hotel bar, so it's gotta be in MK.

Duck fried rice sounds yummy! Will have to consider it. Thanks!

Are party goers allowed in costume prior to 4 pm?
While not common you will see folks in costume all day if they plan a MK day & party. Personally not for me, we'll go back to hotel to change but I have seen enough to know it's not an issue. Although they are not full blown costuming.

Good question! I just reviewed the rules, and I don't see any prohibition.
Prior to 4pm there is no Special Event so you are a normal guest and will need to be dressed within those guidelines and costumes are not allowed. You see people obviously dressed for the party during this time and even in like highly themed Disney bounding type outfits but you do not see full on costumes yet.

The Special Event rules go into effect when the event starts allowing entry. Some people will bring their costumes with them and store them in a locker to change into later.

I encourage you to hit up the MNSSHP thread for questions about attire. They’re the experts on this event!

We've enjoyed watching guests in their awesome costumes walking in. I hadn't thought about "rules" earlier than 4 pm on a party day. We just do ears and tee shirts though our son and DIL do it up!
