Major Rumor Marvel in ToT update page 25

Spirit defends himself quite well later on in the thread. I guess only time will tell but somehow none of it surprises me.

I'm not saying he's lying about what he's hearing. There's a reason the guy is right more than most are. I'm just saying just because it's something he's hearing doesn't mean it's going to come to fruition. Lots of ideas pass around WDI - Carsland in DHS for example - but then they don't happen. Go ahead and say you hate the idea, it might just be that Disney is floating this rumor to see the response. However, don't act like it's a sure thing - as some here seem to be.

That's very true. However spirit doesn't usually put blue sky type things out there. He also said he's been sitting on this for a while so it's not something hot off the press.

This sounds stupid because of the unnecessary work that'd need to be done. Strip the facade, redo the interior and exterior (although a half a** reskinning wouldn't shock me) and you know it would clash with the surrounding theming. As if they care though

Out of all wild rumors that I have heard in the history of Disney Park rumors, this may possibly the dumbest rumor of all time. It makes absolutely no sense. Tower of Terror is one of the best themed rides at Disney Parks. It may be considered one of the classic attractions. At the moment, Tower of Terror may be the only reason to visit Hollywood Studios on a WDW trip. With this park about to under go a bunch of construction with Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land, redestroying a classic attraction is the last thing Disney needs to do.

If this rumors still has legs to it in the next month or so, I may create a bunch of t-shirts to sale for people to wear in the parks to protest against such a terrible idea and call for the firing of Bob Chapek. This is absolutely ridiculous. This is way worse then Frozen Ever After, way worse then Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Alien Encounter, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, and the list can go on and on and on. All of those rides that were being replaced had popularity, logistic, and intensity reasons. This would be one of the biggest mistakes in Disney World history.

Like a retheme of Rock 'N' Roller Coaster makes obvious sense. It doesn't take an elementary education to understand that.

Here's something I find amusing (and maybe Ironic too?) :

Disney Fans LOVE the Haunted Mansion overlay at DLR - they lament that Disney won't do the same thing in Florida.

Disney Fans hear they might do a temporary overlay on Tower of Terror in DHS - Disney Fans HATE this idea.

This idea would actually work very handily - and you can bet Disney is paying Aerosmith a lot more money than they are paying for the rights to the Twilight Zone. And think about, GotG has a basis of a Rock and Roll soundtrack - they could even still pump in music during the ride as you listen to "Star Lord's Awesome Mix Tape #2". Yeah, they'd have to do some serious re-theming of the ride, but at least it would be a better fit to Guardians...the dark coaster could be a flight through space.

As I said elsewhere - the rumor for DCA sort of makes sense as they want a Marvel land there in DCA. It sure don't make sense for DHS.

I think WDW fans are worried because nothing is ever very temporary in WDW.

If it were my job to overlay an existing attraction with Guardians, I think I'd do Rock & Roller Coaster as it physically seems like a better fit. ToT theming to me is timeless and perfect for the (existing) park. Personally I think it's smarter to add now and overlay later. The park really doesn't need any long term closures until at least Toy Story opens.

Separately, I don't think it's likely that Marvel properties will lose their luster in a major way. Remember, Marvel has a couple decades on Star Wars.

Simple, you just have to pick an IP with a cult following that is not currently at the forefront of popular culture. Maybe people would enjoy a Labyrinth overlay more ;)

I keep expecting "super hero fatigue" to hit, but Bat v Supes is tracking at $390 Million domestic and Civil War at $450 Million domestic, and these movies are super popular (pun intended) overseas.

I don't think Labyrinth is owned by Disney. It's Henson but not Muppets.

Quite the feat on the part of BvS, which looks worse than the terrible Man of Steel.
There is a lot of goodwill for the Marvel movies because by and large, they have been consistently good.
the DC Universe films may dilute interest and torpedo goodwill if they keep going the way of MoS.

I am a huge Guardians fan, but i agree that it doesn't seem to fit as TOT with the whole elevator thing. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
