MagicBands Question

We were at WDW 3 weeks ago and MagicBands were being widely tested but the 2 resorts we were staying at were not participating. We are going back Nov 30 - Dec 7 and are wondering if they will be in full use by then.

If so, when do we expect to hear from them? I know people are able to customize their color and names. To add, we are renting a reservation at AKV Jambo and we have PAPs that will expire in Jan. Do any of these issues effect whether or not we will be able to use MagicBands? TIA.

All of the resorts should be in place by then. We received notice that we could participate and a letter on how to do that. They walk you through the process and ship you the magic bands. I don't have AP's so I can't speak to that. I would guess you should try and log on to the My Disney Experience and see if you are invited to test instead of waiting for an invitation.

I should add that they are still in testing phase and not a full roll out but all the resorts will be participating by your dates.

We had premium annual passes and were able to use the magic bands a few weeks ago. I second linking your reservation in my Disney experience and see if any magic band options come up.

All WDW resorts will be offering Magic Bands as of 10/23/13. If you are checking into a WDW resort on 11/30 you should already have access to MB Customization.

From the main Disney page, click on My Disney Experience at the upper right. Do not select from the drop down menu, just click on it. When the page loads you will see links to the right. One says either "Manage Magic Bands" or "Personalize Magic Bands". If it says Personalize just click on that and go through the steps to customize your bands. They will be shipped out about 30 days before check in.

If it says Manage that means you do not have access to personalization, although you should. Some have reported having to do on line check in (or to redo it if already done) to get access to band customization so you might try that. Some have reported having to go through those steps a few times.

But, if you aren't checking into a WDW resort until 12/1 or later you do not yet have access to the system. Only check ins 11/30 and before currently have access. If December check ins go the way October and November check ins did you should get access within the next week or two.

I am on hold with Disney CS as I type and was just informed that MagicBand testing ENDS Nov 30. No more bands will be issued until the system goes into full effect and there is no ETA on when that might be. Very disappointed as we arrive on Dec 1 ....

Sheesh! Well, I guess I'll go ahead and go to MDE and see what I can do.

3 weeks ago the darn things were everywhere and were working fine. It seemed like we were the only ones who didn't have them. If we can't get them for the next trip I'm gonna start taking this personally.

Ignore it. The same thing was said for both October and November.

Nothing has been officially announced for December. That doesn't mean there will be no MBs and FP+ in December...it just mean it hasn't been announced yet.

The more you deal with Disney, the more you will learn that front-line phone CMs often aren't reliable with the information they share.

I am quite sure you will have everything available to you in December. Things are progressing the same way they did for the last several months. There is no way they would implement the system for all WDW Resorts and then just suspend it.

Ok, just went to MDE and it told me that I had 16 days left to customize our MagicBands. Said it had to be done by Oct 31. So I did.

Just so you know, the MagicBands will not ship until the cut off date has past. When they do ship, they are shipped UPS Next Day Air.

No contact from Disney, just went to MDE and found it as an option like you just did.

Ours shipped long before cutoff date! Our cutoff was 10/27 and they arrived Monday. Only customized them Saturday (had not finished as a matter of fact!) and was surprised by UPS on the holiday. Cannot decide if I am excited or scared...

There are some (like you) that have received them prior to the cut off, most don't get them until after.

After a couple calls to MS for tech assistance we ordered our bands on Tues 10/15. We received them this morning. Our cut-off date is 10/31 for a 11/11 arrival.

I had not checked for a few days but when I looked today there is a "Customize Magic Bands" option We are hotel jumping so there are actually two bands per person!
No notifications from Disney We have 9 days to modify on one res and 12 on the other.
