Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) **** PART III ****

Ok so we are apparently jumping on the making magnets wagon a little late but I think once our kids start seeing other doors with magnets they are going to wonder why we didn't do them. :confused3 What is the easiest way to make them? I can work well with crafts if I have some sort of step by step plan so hopefully they will turn out ok! :cool1: Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Also if any body has any extra that they can spare I don't mind paying you for them or buying a few DOTDs! :cool1:

:santa:

Here's another site that has TONS of images to print for your magnets. Beware.....it can suck you in!!! You may lose hours once you start perusing! :lmao: http://www.4shared.com/dir/19077581/4fa6c900/sharing.html

Another method I'm going to TRY...don't know how well it'll work, but going to give it a try....is printing on paper and cutting to 4X6" to fit into a clear plastic photo holder that is designed to magnetize onto surfaces. These are also available at office stores.

BTW: If you need to laminate something, check around to see if you have a teacher's store around you....they usually have a laminating service. Depending on where you live, your local school's ISD or RESA may have a resource center where they'll laminate for a nominal fee. A thought!

Okay - I'm screwed!!!

DD7 desperately wanted a puppy for Christmas. We fell in love with a friend's dog and she put us in touch with her breeder in South Africa who was going to have a litter ready in late January. PERFECT TIMING! So we were all set - we were number two on the list and the vet said there would be six puppies.

We structured DD7's whole Christmas around Santa's present of a puppy. Her grandmother got leashes and a dog care book. Her great-grandmother got bowls, etc.

Today we got an e-mail from the breeder that something happened - they don't know what - but the mother only delivered one live puppy. So no puppy for us. :sad1: The silver lining is that the mother is okay and caring for her one.

I don't know what to do now. We are leaving on Thursday and this ruins everything. There's no way to get a puppy in the U.S. and bring it home with us in Jan. and I don't trust the dogs here. I just know she'll be crushed on Christmas morning when there's no puppy - it's the only thing she asked Santa for this year.

This really put a damper on my enjoyment of her birthday party today...

Oh no! (((Joann))) :guilty::sad1: So sorry to hear that. Will you be able to keep Plan A from her? Arranging something new in 4 days?!? Sending positive thoughts your way ---> :grouphug:

5 days, 18 hours, 40 minutes, 23 seconds until I leave Iraq!!

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

How sad. I avoid the stores around here just for that reason....I like to be able to LIKE people, and those displays of behavior make that difficult!

I would have liked to think that on a cruise people would be a little more neighborly. :sad2:

On a happier note, we are looking out our windows right now and feeling like someone shook the snow globe we live in! GORGEOUS lake effect snow happening here in SW Michigan today!

Penny

Just sounded awful - like to think the same thing, too, Penny.

Snowing in TN, too. DD5 ran around like a nut trying to catch flakes on her tongue. An anemic, but fun, snow angel on the deck has become a tradition here in TN .

On a different note:
Sam's Club has a 3 pack of disposable Kodak cameras (27 exp/800sp) for $9.99. Also got a case of 12 S. Pelligrino sparkling mineral water for $12.95 - not bad! Not to bring on the trip, but to enjoy now. Mentioning it also as I took my first Airbourne tablet and it is really quite nice dissolved in the sparkling mineral water. :thumbsup2

Keep healthy, All! :wizard:

Just thought I'd let everyone know:

IM OFFICIALLY ON HOLIDAY!:banana::banana::banana:

Yes thats right I just got home from my last shift. Now 2 days of last minute running around. Also my son broke his new glasses that are only 2 days old! He cant see withouth them so we have to get them replaced before we leave on Wed:eek:
Colette

Hooray for holiday and phooey for the glasses. Hope that gets fixed sooner than soon.

Am I the only hold out on door magnets? We will have a FE, but that's it.

Also, is DD5 alone in being scared stiff of Stitch?

We finally broke down and told the kids about the trip...it was getting to hard to keep the secret anymore. Plus, our youngest DD (10) kept asking when we were leaving for Grandma's House.

Our oldest DD was very excited :dance3:about the news, our oldest DS was happy...but our youngest DD was a very:sad1: unhappy girl. She doesn't want to miss grandmas house & she is afraid Santa won't find her on the ship. ;) I think, by the time she went to bed last night... she was feeling a little better about the idea.

The best part, is I now have helpers ...to get all the last minute things done. ;)Today we are going to put together our Fish Extender Gifts. :yay:

JoAnne.

Oh no!!!!! Maybe you could get a stuffed dog and have Santa tell her that the puppy won't be ready to go home with her until sometime in January. It might buy some time to figure something out. A couple of years ago DD9 wanted the Barbie doll house and could not find one anywhere. We ended up breaking up some wood into splinter pieces and left them on floor around the fire place with a note from Santa saying he accidentally broke it coming down the fireplace. It worked and we were able to get one when the stores got them back in stock.

Yah, um, I'll admit that after nearly getting run over by the raucous alien coming around the corner on the ship a few trips back, I'm a bit cautious of him myself!!! :scared1: LOL

Oh, and RE: the magnets....this is the first trip that I have done magnets, so don't worry. It's only the crazy DISers who have the magnets, so you won't feel left out! :lmao:

I loved making all our magnets!! We printed out the ears for the stateroom from the link here on the forum. They are really cute. I made our Malecifent horns from scratch. But the ones that were the most fun to make are the ones Agnes and I made together.

We printed off Disney coloring pages, colored them, put some glitter on them, and then used the self-laminate paper you can get at office stores. We have made a bunch of them. It's like once you start you can't stop!

Has anyone been to the Lego store at Downtown Disney? Agnes is a Lego addict. She got the Lego gene from me. LOL Anyhoo, it looks pretty cool and we are thinking of taking her there the day we get back from the cruise. Is Downtown Disney neat? Is it worth the bus ride from the Contemporary Resort?

Sorry if this a little bit all-over-the place. Yesterday was my 40th bday and let's just say I whooped it up a bit. :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1 I kind of feel like I was hit by a truck and I can't really think well. LOL

My 7 year old son LOVES the lego store...especially since you can play with all the lego's out front...DD is definitely worth the bus ride...They have giant lego statues and tons of other fun stuff to do! I look forward to going there as much as the parks!!

Michelle-
Yes....the magnet making becomes addictive....my DH is starting to tease me that our door is going to start looking like Walt threw up on it! :lmao:

And Happy Birthday! My 40th is in 8 days......not that I'm counting or anything!

Melissa(tinkmischief) – hope Demitrius is feeling better.pixiedust: Hopefully it’s just a cold. Alyssa came home from school on Thursday with a note that there has been a confirmed case of pertussis at school. Even though she isn’t sick, I was on the phone to her Dad and told him to prescribe an antibiotic for her just in case I need it.

Melissa(MommyLissa) - safe travels and have fun reconnecting with your family.:grouphug:

Joann – that’s a bummer. Like you need one more thing to worry about. I don’t really have any great ideas but maybe the breeder could put you in touch with another breeder. Hopefully you can figure something out. Tell DD Happy Birthday! :bday:

Colette – YEAH!!! For being on vacation!:yay:

Michelle – Happy 40th Birthday!!!:bday: I felt like that yesterday. We had a 40th birthday party for a friend Friday night and I had a little too much wine.:drinking1 I figured I was just practicing for the cruise.:thumbsup2

Oh that sounds cool! We will definitely be going now. I figure we can dump our stuff at the hotel, go to DD, shop, eat lunch, go back to hotel, and then go to WDW for the evening. Now I'm really excited to see DD!!

Thanks Penny! Happy birthday to you too! We will have to have a birthday cocktail together! 40 is actually pretty cool. The way I looked at is - I have a great life. I have a wonderful, loving husband who is my best friend, the most amazing little girl who melts my heart everyday, my own business, a great family, and the best friends in the world! I have a feeling this is going to be the best year ever.

Hi, Liz from Central Florida....we are also here. So Cold! we have had our heat on the last 2 nights! Oh, I think a group of 7 will have their own table.

can't wait to meet more Floridians so we can complain about the weather :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Connie

LOL! How true! We complain the minute it's cold. And then we start dressing for the North Pole. :lmao: I was in disney all weekend. It was sooo much fun but I was cold. You could immediately tell who was from up north and who was from the south. Too funny. For the taping of the christmas parade, I had a velour track suit with a camisole and regular long sleeve shirt underneath, leg warmers, socks, sneakers, a coat, gloves and scarf. The northerns were wearing a long sleeve tee and shorts. :confused3
