Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) **** PART III ****

DS had a blast walking in a Christmas Parade this morning:cool1:...aaaaaand now he has a fever:eek:   Hope this is a 24 hour thing. Last Christmas he had pneumonia:sad2:

The story I am about to post shows why EVERYONE needs to be on the Disboards...just happened today.

I helped in our boring (but nice) suburb of Bloomington MN all day at the Girl Scout gift making. Pretty much, I knew most people who came thru, by face if not by name. There was one group I didn't know, so I sat down and started talking to the girls. One girl told me, the most important thing about her was she loved Disney. I perked right up and said, "Have you been on a Disney Cruise." She said yes, lots of times, Then she said they are going to Alaska next. She said the best cruise they had been on was in '08. Thru the Panama Canal - going from Cal to Florida. I said - WAIT - we were on that cruise. We started talking - she completely remembered my husband in the "black shorts' getting hypnotized and dancing like Hannan Montana in the show. And rubbing Christian's bald head later as part of his post-hypnosis! Turned out, another girl just a few blocks away was also on the cruise. I wished we could have met before.

Update: not all packed, still pale, getting pretty close. Cold weather in Florida will be fine, bcs my crazy kids wear shorts and parkas when it is 15 degrees.

We have been to Martinique and Guadelupe, so I can answer any last minute questions...See you guys soon. Can we wear name tags with our DISnames so we recognize each other? Kathleen

PS - Still not dressing up. Angie can be the formal MN contigent.

Alright. Should be working on organizing Med Cruise (Aug 7th, '10) memorabilia in order to free up my expandable file for the Xmas Cruise. What am I doing??? Reading the DIS boards, printing more magnets, thinking about my ornament for the exchange, etc. etc.! :rotfl2: Queen of Distraction reigns. princess:

BTW....OK if the ornament is homemade? Just checking, as I went shopping and found NOTHING like what I had in mind, so got crafty instead. :confused3

I did a collection of ornaments from Uganda - They all have a homemade look to them! :-)

It is a small world huh!! We were on the Panama Canal cruise as well. I remember your husband as well. We laughed so hard.:rotfl2: Looking forward to seeing you again!

Ok so we are apparently jumping on the making magnets wagon a little late but I think once our kids start seeing other doors with magnets they are going to wonder why we didn't do them. :confused3 What is the easiest way to make them? I can work well with crafts if I have some sort of step by step plan so hopefully they will turn out ok! :cool1: Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Also if any body has any extra that they can spare I don't mind paying you for them or buying a few DOTDs! :cool1:

Easiest way to make them is to get some magnet paper that you can print directly onto. THen find a graphic you like and print it on the magnet paper. Instant door magnet.

If you can't find magnet paper (available at most office stores) or don't want to spend the money for it. You can print your design - laminate it (or just take your chances with stiff paper) - and stick magnet strips onto the back.

Check the magnet thread on the main board for design ideas. Some folks will even design them for you - but most require a couple weeks notice. Then they'll post it and you can copy it into your magnet.

Have fun!

I love that story!

Penny - buy another expandable folder. If we weren't between Thanksgiving and Christmas with NOTHING else to do I'd say go for the scrapbooking. You don't want to rush it.

Just saved $100 by re-booking our reservations for the 17th. Room rates have gone waaaaay done since the shuttle launch has been postponed! :cool1:

That's more shopping money for the ports! :woohoo:

:yay::woohoo::cool1: Lemons ---> Lemonade :cutie:

Up for two hours. Working on Christmas Cards. Read on the trip report thread about a scuffle on 'Black Friday' on the ship. People grabbing armloads of stuff, a table breaking :scared1: Some one is supposed to post a video later. Just wow :sad2:

Two weeks from now ... WE'RE ON A BOAT!

these disboards threads have lots of really cool designs you can use. Probably too late to have her make one up for you personally. but you can adapt some of them in microsoft word or office publisher.
for more ideas, go to the main disboards cruise thread and look for magnets designs or door designs for ideas/ print themout on magnet paper or photopaper and glue magnets to the back.

good grief! The temp in Florida is pretty much the same as here in Ottawa, Canada right now...we don't even have any snow - just mostly rain on and off for the last few weeks; so seems the UK has stolen our snow and given us their rain instead!

Sure hope it warms up in Florida in time for dec 29 when we debark for WDW for five days....Floridians, what is the norm temp for end of December these days? I'm guessing the average monthly temps on the weather sites are bunk

It's hard to say what temperature to expect - It was balmy last weekend - short sleeves and shorts weather. But we are expecting near FREEZING in a few days! You never know what you'll get in Central Florida in Winter. The key to being comfortable are LAYERS!

Just borrowed some pirate costumes, but they have giant 3 cornered hats, and elaborate brocade jackets, etc. Where do I fit them in the luggage??? May have to leave them behind... :sad2:

I am doing cards today too. first time I have used Walgreen's photo cards online.....FAST! all I have to do is make address labels. Not sure about a letter this year. I feel kinda lazy not sending one to the relatives at least, but maybe after the New Year would be better! :rolleyes1

I just prepped all my cards, but will not send them until we return from the cruise - that way I'll have a good family photo, and also news of the cruise to put in the enclosed letter. But they are stamped, addressed, and ready to go. Today's mission is shopping and wrapping...

Feel better soon!!! We just got over a round of colds. I am getting paranoid about keeping the family healthy for these last two weeks. Can you imagine getting turned away at the ship due to illness? That is the stuff of nightmares. I am pushing vitamins and lots of sleep. MUST STAY HEALTHY...

We just bought the magnetic paper at Michaels that adheres right to the door. We just have been taping out stuff to the front part, pictures, etc. DD had been cutting some of the magnetc paper to in shapes...

Does she leave today? Wouldn't it be great if we could all do a spa day with her???
