Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Palo just opened up a bunch of dinner reservations for parties of 5-6 people. So our romantic dinner for two will now also include my oldest DD & DS along with my in-laws. If I figured the schedule right, the night (12/26) won't conflict with any of the other special dinner events

One way or another we will find some quiet time together, just not here. I guess I will now look for a couples massage instead.

Unless of course, everyone else became "sick" and couldn't make it to dinner. cough, cough, wink, wink...:rolleyes1

Do all the restaurants serve the same dinner on Christmas day? Is it a special menu or is it the regular menu?:santa:

Just FYI...

Minneapolis Mickey, will be very glad to hear abt Steamboat. Do you fly or drive? We drive to Breckenridge with an overnight in Hays, Kansas! I'm getting a little sad thinking about it...but the cruise will be a fabulous change!

Who is the perfect gift. Is there a website? Or just a phone #?

Shirley is the owner. Check the main forum there is tons of info. She is the one shop authorized to make deliveries to DCL I think and people love what she does! Miatamel posted some Christmas tree photos she will deliver to our staterooms. A lot better price than DCL. She also does great gift baskets with whatever you want. Snacks, booze, soda, etc. It's a small local business so good to support! Check the main forum.

I want to get something from her but can't decide what?!

Thanks for the information for Shirley. I will be calling her in the morning! I, too, own a small business so I always like to support local businesses.

Any tips on resources, especially on line, that you have found helpful for info on our ports?

How have you made decisions on what excursions to book? :confused3

TIA.

I've just been searching all over the internet about the islands. I knew we wanted to do a lot of beach time so most of our excursions are beachy. We've decided to do only one expensive excursion - The Fiesta at Claret Island. We thought we would splurge on that because it truly seems like a once in a lifetime adventure.

Other than that we are just doing the beach breaks and the sting ray thing at CC.

We didn't pick an excursion for Martinique because we are there on Christmas Eve. So we are going shopping! From what I have read Martinique loves Christmas and everything is decorated with decorations and lights. We are going to wander along Rue Victor Hugo to shop for French perfume, cosmetics, maybe some swanky clothes (LOL), and then hit up the cafes!

What is your family thinking about doing?

You had wood swords? Wow, I thought they didn't allow swords onboard, even toy ones. I really want to have swords for pirate night. If I'm caught, will I have to walk the plank with Mickey?
:rolleyes1
Liz

Oh, I think you can get away with plastic swords, wooden ones? Maybe not.

i want a red and white dress with a mickey on the front like your girls have! How cute!

Yes- as mentioned above Shirley is the owner of The Perfect Gift. I found them online by googling, and I believe that they are at theperfectgift.com. If you want a personal gift like a basket you must call the phone number. I spoke to Melody who is actually in charge of the baskets. She was incredibly helpful personalizing surprise gifts for my boys. I can't wait to see them in the room when we walk in.

momssurprise- Steamboat is a 16 hour drive from our house. If we are going for a week or more we drive. The town is very simple to get around without a car, but I am usually hosting a bunch of people and the trips to the grocery store would be overwhelming without the car. Apparently the snow is already awesome there! I can't wait for our trip in February.

I am so excited. I have my documents. The ship is sold out.
In one month I will be in Florida looking out the window and watching for my ship to arrive. That is what I thought about all day.
I know I am excited when I have three out of the six bags packed. I already packed my jewelry. So for the next four weeks my students will not see me with all of my jewelry matching. Now I need to sew a few more shirts and I will be ready to board the ship.
This is going to be a great Christmas.

Did someone say Mickey can call me?

I just saw this over on the main forum -- how cool!

Disney will offer guests the use of "Portable Wave Phones" on board the ships of the Disney Cruise Line starting in December (December 16th on the Disney Wonder; December 18th on the Disney Magic.) The portable phones can send and receive phone calls and text messages from other Wave phones when used on board the ship or on Castaway Cay. The phones do not work off the ship, and it doesn't sound like they can work with other carriers - you can use the device to call other Wave Phones on Disney's network, but not to call home.

Each stateroom will come equipped with two of the phones; concierge staterooms come with four phones. There is currently no charge to use the service, but you can rent additional units for $3.50 per unit per day if you need more than come with your room. There is a $250 charge per unit if they are lost / stolen / damaged, so that's something to consider before handing them to your pool-bound kids.

Disney is planning to use these phones to replace the pager system currently used by the Youth Activities department, which means that one parent/guardian must carry the unit at all times. If you don't have kids in Youth Programming and you don't want to use the phones, you can turn them in and Disney will turn off the service for your stateroom for the cruise.

wow that is pretty cool:thumbsup2 :cool1:

Wave Phones
I dont think i would be happy to give my kids something that could cost $250 to run round the ship with! I think its a good idea. I wonder if you can call them off any phone such as the phones on each deck where you can call staterooms.
Looks like we get to test them:cool1:
