Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

You guys have been a very chatty group this week. :)I left Wednesday afternoon to visit my family in Oregon and returned last night. There was over 10 pages to catch up on. :surfweb:

We received our docs on Friday while I was gone. :headache: Oldest DD (17) called my DH at work to inform him that docs came from DCL. DH told her that she must be mistaken. Maybe it had something to do with next years "Dream" cruise. Thankfully DD did not open the docs. She just set them on my desk. So the cruise is still a surprise.:thumbsup2

Unfortantely, we should be getting another set of docs in the next few weeks for our New Years Cruise. Hopefully they will arrive while I am home. I am not sure we can get away with "Dream" story twice.

:flower3:Have a great day everyone!

Did anyone ever add to the list everyone's home towns?

We haven't even begun to think of packing yet, but I may contemplate it this week.

For onboard - a bottle of rum, vodka, box of red wine. Can add mixers from the drink station. Can't forget to pack that stuff (in a grocery bag...)

Very interesting group of people - from Uganda and the Azores. Wow!

I would love a crazed princess button since I can't wear the shirt everyday....:rolleyes1

Just curious, what color shirts are eveyone ordering? I liked it in every color! I am leaning toward pink...since I'm a princess and all. :dance3:

I got light blue! I don't have anything that color. So, we can't wear them EVERY day??
Guess I will need a button too!

I am an Army flight surgeon, and will have a stock of scopolamine with me if anyone needs them. Feel free to hit me up!

Quite an offer there! We may hit you up!
Anxious for my DD to meet you. She will be persuing a medical degree, and is considering the Military route. Would love to hear how your schooling went, and military career.

Just finished purchasing items for my FE's, I'm going to need another suitcase to pack it all on the plane!

Someone was asking about a list of excursions. We are on the following:

Guadalupe - Scuba (through Disney)
St.Thomas - Scuba (through Disney)
Castaway Cay - Stingray encounter
Castaway Cay - 5k Run (not technically an excursion, but organized by the ship)

I am most excited about St. Maarten, we will probably just grab a taxi and make out own excursion, shopping Orient beach.

Good question....who WAS it who was going to make a spreadsheet of excursion 'buddies'???? I want to check and see if they got mine, but I don't want to search through 200 pages! :confused3 Anyone?

The cruise buddies list was mine and I have you down for Mountain Bike Adventure - St Maarten, Snorkeling at Cousteau Reserve and Crayfish Waterfall - Guadeloupe, the 8:15 Turtle Shipwreck & Snorkel Adventure - Barbados (see you there :-), Mangrove Kayaking - Martinique, and Magens Bay Beach Break - St Thomas.

I hesitate to post the link here on the boards, since it does have cabin information and stuff, but I'll be happy to send the link to those who send me their excursion information. Or I could just post a list of who's doing what, when here in the thread, but it would not get updated.

We are on both SCUBA excursions with you....AND....our DD5 (just turned 5 in October) will be staying behind in the Oceaneer Club. We should get Anna Marie and Lauren together!!

You can call DCL but they'll probably tell you dining hasn't been assigned yet. We spoke to our Head Server on our last cruise- he does the seating on the Wonder. We want our server from this last cruise on our 12/12 one. He downloads and does seating assignments the night before! So we won't know for sure if we get Alex till pretty much when we get onboard.

How funny, we requested Alex for our server as well :) We love him :)

Great! Thanks! I would like to see it when we get closer so I can see who to look for. I have tried to jot people down on my own list as they have posted their excursions if they match mine, but I know I've missed some. You are sweet for organizing this!

P.S.--we are doing Magens Bay just on our own...no DCL excursion. :cool2:

Hey Penny, just to let you know, our vacation starts on Dec. 3, so any updating by me will cease by the beginning of Dec. This cruise is the back end of B2B Magic-al cruises for Stephen and me and we will be at Kidani from Dec 3 - 11. I know we have free internet included in our DVC stay, but I'm probably going to be so dead-dog tired each night, I doubt I'll be online much.

Hi everyone
Finished with my long working weekend now.:cool1:
Hope I have not missed the secret mickey/santa.
My internet has been down all weekend:confused3
Will catch up tomorrow.

Ok, I promise I don't get kick-backs from pharmaceutical companies!! So, I thought I'd throw this out there as well...

Motion sickness is caused by your visual input (what your brain processes) and your inner ear balance (what your body senses about your position) being out of synch. There are numerous other ways to relieve sea sickness without medication. First, try to get a view of the horizon, as this helps orient you. Also, you can move to mid-ship (which is where the least rocking motion is; think of the ship like a see saw and mid-ship is the fulcrum). There are many anecdotal herbal remedies--aromatherapy (lemon, cedar, lavender and spearmint seem to work the best), ginger (especially tea), and peppermint (hard candies, maybe? again, I think it plays on the aromatherapy).

Part of the motion sickness battle can be won by acknowledging that you are on a moving ship, in a rolling ocean. You may feel stationary, but the fluid in your inner ears will be sloshing around just like the waves below. Accepting that fact, and not fighting it, can be therapeutic in itself. Going with the flow, so to speak.

If all else fails, you can always be treated with heavily sedating anti-nausea medication, but that's no way to enjoy a cruise!!

Thanks for taking the time to explain the various anti-nausea options to those of us prone to motion sickness. Great to better understand the cause, some solutions and alternatives that are available.:)

Because we won't be at home for christmas (obviously lol) it means we'll miss the family tradition of our advent calendars. We have five, one for each member of the family however we take it in turns to open on i.e i'll do the playmobile one, whilst sister does another on then we swap the next day. (None of them are chocolate).

However mum (pooh's pals) had the idea of using the advents calendars as a countdown to the cruise. We leave on the 12th December to spend 5 days in Disney before cruising (we'll be doing MVMCP on the 14th).

Anyway long story short, here is a picture of one of our advent calendars (disneyfied) the mickey was taken out of brother's disney hero/villain chess set.

Each day someone takes one of the number slats out of the chimney and after three mickey falls down the chimney when mickey is at the bottom it means holiday time! :D

Here is a link encase the picture hasn't worked http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f245/nazzyjayne/?action=view&current=Countdown_to_Cruise.jpg

Great idea and the set up is really neat. Sure beats the velvet Christmas tree we use and star that moves from pocket to pocket, allowing us to remove a piece of chocolate before placing the star in the pocket. Creative idea. Thanks for sharing it with us.:thumbsup2

If you have never seen Fantasmic then I would definitely go to that one night and then the MVMCP the other night. Having done the MVMCP several times, you can certainly take it all in, soak up the atmosphere and still have time to hit some rides. Plus while at Hollywood Studios, you can also hit the Osborne Family Light Show.

My middle DS turns 7 today and we are surprising him with a trip to MMVCP this Friday night. This boy loves himself some holidays and Christmas tops the list for him. Normally, we go in December but since our tree is up already and we will be in full blown cruise mode by then, we decided to go early this year.

Hope your son enjoys his surprise.:santa:

Sounds SO NICE!!!! I would hope that you would NOT be on the computer while you are on vacation! :cool2: That would feel too much like work! :)

Maybe if you take what you have available before you go and just PM it to those interested? I don't know how much of a pain that would be. Just a thought?!

You must be REALLY counting down the days! :cool1:

For anyone who is worried about sea sickness meds, the ship does have baskets of individually wrapped pills for free. I have always used those and have never had a problem. Just thought I would mention it. :confused3

One other thing I wanted to mention. For anyone who is still struggling with making a FE or just wants a decoration for their fish extender, Dollar tree has these HUGE felt stockings that have 2 hanging loops so you could easily put a dowel and string on it to hang it. You don't really need to add pockets if you are not crafty as it does have the one big opening on top. Use a tube of glitter glue/paint for a dollar from Walmart to personalized with your names and Wah Lah...instant FE. I was thinking of doing one like this and even bought an extra one so I could cut it up and use it to make pockets. Here's what they look like:

I decided just to use the 2 I got from Tuesday Morning and personalize it. They came really cute and the best thing is ...... they are done. :thumbsup2
I did see the same ones a few days ago at my local Steinmart but they were $20 although this time of year Steinmart always has tons of coupons. ;)

Hope that helps someone.

Our cruise documents arrived via regular USPS on Friday. And I just completed the on-line check in.

I also order the Disney Rewards card for all the points that we have been accumulating over the past few years. Knowing that generally we get 1% of our purchases, it is rather frightening knowing how much we have spent on our Disney Visa.

Unfortunately, we are not going to MVMCP, but we will be going to DL's Christmas Fantasy Parade on the 4th of December. That day we'll also have brunch at Goofy's Kitchen to help get us in a Very Merry Disney Christmas mood, which is an awesome preview for our cruise. :santa::banana::banana::santa::santa:

We'll be at the taping of the Christmas Parade on Dec 4th too!!!! :dance3::dance3::dance3: But we'll be in Disney World. We'll be thinking of you! We will be sporting our red personalized t-shirts for the cruise and embroidered mickey santa hats of course. hehehe we are so corny! :sad2:

That would be FANTASTIC!. Will make a point of looking out for you guys!
