Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

I will be using a stocking for our Fish Extender, mainly because I am completely UN-crafty and well it is Christmas!

So, for those that have done this before, do I need to put on some sort of string to actually hang it from the fish?

I would suggest using a plastic zip tie. Just remember to pack either nail clippers or small scissors (checked luggage only) to remove it at the end of the cruise.

Just a reminder to everyone. DCL does not permit hanging anything in the cabin or on the doors using tape of ANY kind. I guess there was too much damage being done to the paint and stuff.

I got a few static cling window decorations for the cabin and will probably put a few up on the mirrors as well. Magnets for the door, of course.

Marezine, Dramamine, and Bonine are all over-the-counter antihistamine classes of medication (like Benadryl and Zantac), however they seem to work on the inner ear (where sea-sickness comes from)

Scopolamine (patch) is longer acting (about 72-hrs), but can have some side effects like dry mouth and racing heart. Also, it should not be used by people with glaucoma or prostate enlargement.

I am a SCUBA diver, and for me scopolamine has worked the best.

Make sure to put the patch on a few hours before you get onboard. DS did not listen to me on the last cruise and waited to put his patch on as we were getting on the ship. He was sick, sick, sick, the first night! We had 13 foot seas that night going out. I think the directions say to put the patch on several hours before going out.

The cruise buddies list was mine and I have you down for Mountain Bike Adventure - St Maarten, Snorkeling at Cousteau Reserve and Crayfish Waterfall - Guadeloupe, the 8:15 Turtle Shipwreck & Snorkel Adventure - Barbados (see you there :-), Mangrove Kayaking - Martinique, and Magens Bay Beach Break - St Thomas.

I hesitate to post the link here on the boards, since it does have cabin information and stuff, but I'll be happy to send the link to those who send me their excursion information. Or I could just post a list of who's doing what, when here in the thread, but it would not get updated.

I would love a copy of folks' excursions even though I've yet to book any. I hope to get on that this week and might be persuaded one way or the other by what others are doing.
thanks

Is MVMCP worth doing twice? Now I'm wondering whether it's worth missing Fantasmic! on the 17th (our HS day) to do the party again, in case we miss things first time round. Is anyone else doing it twice or has done it twice? Thoughts? Advice? Thank you

We really enjoy it and are doing it twice to have more time at MK with less people there.

My DH can't get off of work until Dec 16 and DS has school and I don't want to miss to many days - but I really want to go do the parks before the cruise. I would really like to take in all the Christmas decorations plus I heard that mid December is a great time to go crowd wise.

We DH says go - I don't know if I should alone - I don't know if I will enjoy myself? They will join me on Friday if I do but that means I could have 4 days to myself?

Here is my question to you? Would you go to Disney World for 4 days by yourself?

Is everyone dressing up at dinner time for Pirate Night or is there a party after dinner that you dress up for?

You should definitely go. I go by myself sometimes. We live in a remote location with limited medical care, so I usually fly in before my family and do medical appointments as needed at the Celebration Hospital (we also want our girls to miss as little school as possible). I always stay at a Disney resort, and already have a room ready and set up for when my family arrives for our vacation.

December 3rd I'll leave here, and have to spend a night in Virginia, then I'm off to Disney the morning of the 4th, where I'll be staying by myself at the Beach Club Resort :cloud9:. The 6th I'm renting a car from the Disney Care Care Center and will be driving to St. Petersburg to stay a week with my mom. On the 12th I'll drive back to Disney and will check in at the Coranado Springs Resort. When my family arrives the next day I'll have the room decorated a little and stocked with water and snacks.

While you are there, you can check out the other resorts and all of the different themes they use to decorate with. My favorites are the Grand Floridian and the Animal kingdom Lodge. Just catch a bus to Downtown Disney, maybe shop a little, and then you can catch a bus to any resort from there.

I can't say that I never feel a little lonely at times, but the alone time is refreshing, and I appreciate my family even more when I see them again.

Does anyone agree/disagree that seeing the Magic Kingdom for the very first time during the Christmas party is a good way to experience the park? I know everything isn't open during the party, but we'd probably waste a lot of time to begin with, standing around in awe looking at stuff. What would you do and how would you feel about that?

I think you would love it! It is so beautiful at night with all of the lights and decorations. The rides are less crowded and you can walk around with cookies and hot chocolate! When you go on a different day, then you can catch the rides you missed, and also ride your favorites again. Oh, and it snows on Main street!

We dress for the whole evening....show, dinner, party if we even make it that late! :rotfl: THey also have photo ops with Capt Jack and Pirate Mickey/Minnie, etc. Lots of fun roaming the ship in costume! pirate:

It sounds fun, but I'm not planning to -- too many other things to get ready for this cruise. Maybe "get pirate costumes" will be on my list for next time. I did get DD a pirate shirt and accessories, so she can represent the family...

I think I read that an alternative is tropical dress. Might do that?
