Hi - for those who have been to the world with Magicbands, just wondering if anyone had purchased the "skins" for them. If so, how did you find them? Did they stay in place, were they easy to put on or take off? Were they worth it?
Thanks,
Mo

Good Lord, for all that is right in the Universe, do not buy those things.

As far as I know, Disney doesn't make any. I know a company called coverbands (or something like that google it) makes some nice looking ones. I personally haven't tried them yet though, but they are just stickers made of plastic, so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work as long as the bands are clean and dry when you apply them.

We saw Coverbands last week at the Fantasia gift shop at the Contemporary Resort. I am sure they are available in the parks as well.

Not sure how creative or crafty you consider yourself, but instead of those (which I hear are fairly wretched) DIY your own! I used nail polish, rhinestones and even fabric on mine and they were awesome! I got compliments all week long and the bands worked like a dream. You can use nail polish, sharpies, fabric with some mod podge, rhinestones...the possibilities are endless :) Just in case you were wanting some personalization that you couldn't get anywhere else!

DH and I purchased them at the gift shop at the POP back in DEC. We thought the MB got really sweaty (it was 85 outside) so we purchased them. They worked great for us. It took care of the problem and felt more comfortable. We saved them and are going to use them again in July with our new bands. They will help in the summer when it is 110 outside!!

That's a good point. We are going in August and I was worried about that very thing.

We saw them almost in every store when we were there in feb. We got some and it is a pain to put them on the first time, but after that they work well.

Why?

Two different things, IMO, being talked about here!

The coverbands are a term Disney uses to describe tubes of fabric that you put over the band. It's a 'bathing suit' type material, and wicks moisture away pretty well, and stays fairly cool. It dries quickly, too, after you're done swimming or you get out of a rainstorm.

The "skins", however, are a different thing. They are like skins you get for a Kindle or laptop, etc. Stickers. Disney, as far as I know, doesn't sell those.

We bought some of the fabric ones. Hated them! They just felt like all they did was collect dirt and get wet.

We also bought some of the decorations, forget what they are called. All they did was fall off.

This is what I was referring too but I didn't know the correct term! Sounds like the cover bands are for the most part okay.

Disney sells cloth covers for the bands, they don't sell "skins." There are some independent sellers that come up with that kind of thing.

DS11 & I bought the jibblett things in December. Sorry I forget what they're called ;) They stayed on all week no problem. Does anyone know if you can use the skin things & the jibbletts? We asked a CM & nobody knew. :lmao:

We bought them, and I liked mine. Felt better in the August sun than the uncovered plastic.

The cover bands are on Facebook they are like stickers and they have some pretty cool looking ones. They came out with a bunch of new ones today. You should check it out.

I watched a YouTube video showing all of the accessories for the magic bands. Looks like the jibblet things are supposed to push through the material, so u end up putting a small hole in the skin thing.

Good to know. Thanks!

When u say after your done swimming, r u implying u can wear them in the pool? The magic bands are waterproof?

Absolutely. They are simply "rubber" (not rubber! that would be allergenic! not not not rubber, just saying that's sort of how they seem) bracelets. No moving parts, the battery is sealed entirely inside.
