Magic Band Question

Potentially already asked and answered... I just couldn't find it...

If from a previous trip I was allocated a Magic Band, will I get a new one with an upcoming trip or will I have to purchase one? (I don't have the original one anymore).

You will get a new one as long as you are staying at a WDW Resort in fact, using an old band has been reported as causing problems.

You can get a new one. I am on my 3rd one but they did ask me when I booked this last trip if I wanted to use my last one or get a new one. I haven't been charged for the new one.

I agree with sis.

There is nothing "special" about a new MB (at least within the first two years of it's "life.")

While technically that's true, the MB is not the ONLY device that can open the resort door locks.

A WDW ticket can also work, as it contains the same kind of RFID chip that
the MB's use to activate the door locks.

So, a MB is not a required item to stay at a WDW resort.

I have 9 MBs, all active, and they all work just fine.
