Magic Band Credit Card Question

We have linked a credit card with our magic band account but it is a credit card in my name and my wife is not associated with the card but it is linked to her Magic Band. Will she have any problems if she tries to buy something using her Magic Band since she isn't listed on my credit card account with our bank?

Also does anybody know if they put a limit on your account on the Magic Band? We will be there for ten days and with putting tips, souvenirs, etc, I think that we will easily surpass the $500 mark.

EACH individual MB can be set to have (or not to have) credit card access.

The use of the MB charging is connected to a PIN CODE that must be known by the purchaser
at the time of purchase when using a MB.

Yes, there can be a limit.
You can "fund" the MB with various amounts.

If you are staying onsite and charging back to your room, you'll be told a "charge limit" when you check in. The amount depends on the level of the resort. This is the amount at which the card you linked will be automatically charged. Then your room account starts over again until you reach that amount once more, when your card will be charged again.

If you want a limit on your charging you can set that at the front desk.

If you are not staying onsite, you will not at this time be able to charge with your magic band.

The credit card is attached to the ROOM reservation. Those given charging privileges (by the card holder) on their magic bands can use them to charge things back to the room (assuming they know the PIN code). Since your wife is charging to the ROOM, and you, the card holder are paying the room charges, she technically isn't using your credit card.

I know my kids have charged things using a Magic Band and their names are not on my credit card account.

A similar question --

I'm traveling with friends, but the reservations for both of our rooms are in my name. Will they be able to link their magic bands to their credit cards instead of to mine?

I like them, but I don't like them enough to pay for all of their things. :)

When you get to the resort to check in, you can set it up however you like. The person at the desk will be able to link credit cards to specific bands if necessary.

Would there be a hold on the card when you check in? I hate when my available credit goes down even when I do not use it , yes hyatt I'm looking at you, some incidental fee per night crap :(

There's no hold, and as long as you don't hit the limit, the card won't be charged until check out.

this question dovetails with the OP's;

We're a party of 4. DD, DW, DD16 & DD's bf16
we plan to give them both charging privileges, but is there a way to track who bought what? i'm sure Disney can & does but is that info available to guests?

just in case...:scratchin

I'm not sure about individual tracking, but the best way I know of is to get a printout of everything charged and go from there.

Okay, is it insane to want to link one of those prepaid credit cards to my MB instead of my bank card? Or is it straight to room charge in any case? I'd want to do this so I have an absolute preset limit. I think for my Disneymoon, I was going to do that for both me and my DH.

If the room charge this is no matter what, then maybe I'll just invest in some Disney dollars and do OOP when I'm doing stuff in DTD. Wonder if the horse-drawn carriage rides at POFQ take DDS...

I'm not sure if you can link prepaid cards?

As you go, the charges go to your room account. Your card isn't actually charged until either A. You reach the pre-set limit, which is dependent on resort (value, moderate, deluxe) or B. You check-out.

Assuming you can't link a pre-paid card, I'm sure you could just be mindful of your purchases and go to pay the charges with your prepaid card at the end.

When I was there in Dec they were able to provide a printout. I know this b/c I was with a friend and we each had our own credit card linked to our own band. For some reason though all charges ended up on my account. I found out b/c I stopped at the front desk to check the night before checkout. They were able to fix it. They had a name next to each charge.

Do you think the front desk CMs will tire of seeing me at the end of each day, asking to look for those day's charges between me and the DH? I always get concerns about the check out process considering some of the horror stories I've heard about the wait at MCO and the MCE return trips. Do you know what the moderate pre-set limit is? And if that's per band or per room? Sorry for all the questions! :goodvibes

No, they won't get tired of you, it's really easy for them to look it up.

I believe the limit for a moderate is $1000, and that is per room.

You could probably have them pay off the charges each night if you wanted as well.

ok - Thanks for the info!
