The first day I get there, I'm eating at my resort's restaurant (POR). After that, I have dinner reservations for:

-Boma! It was great last year.
-Crystal Palace - never been there for dinner, only breakfast.
-Ohana- never been here before, so I'm really excited!
-50's Primetime Cafe - saw this place on the Travel channel. Will be my 1st!
-Coral Reef - never been there, nor have I seen it, but I love seafood!

I'm also looking forward to eating at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom. :thumbsup2

We declared a halt to all birthdays this year so that we could celebrate them at Disney World. My kids agreed to this because they love the Disney Birthday parties. :thumbsup2

1st day -Counter Service Lunch at Cosmic Rays in MK
Dinner at Concourse Steak House Contemporary

2nd day-Counter Service Lunch at MK
Counter Service at Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD

3rd day-Crystal Palace Late Breakfast
Early Dinner at 1900 Park Fare Grand Floridian (we are attending Night of Joy)

4th day-Counter Service at Toy Story Pizza Planet at MGM
Dinner at Chef Mickey's

5th day-Counter service at Tusker House in AK
Dinner at Akershus in Epcot

6th day-Cinderellas Royal Table Lunch at MK
Dinner at Garden Grill Epcot

7th day-Counter Service at Epcot

We are going with another family and celebrating anniversaries/birthdays there. The reservations at Chef Mickey's, Akershus, 1900 Park Fare and Cinderellas Royal Table are all birthday parties. 3 girls and 1 boy.... The dinner at Concourse and Garden Grill are anniversaries. :teeth:
This trip is pretty much all about the kids.

Do we stand a chance at getting ressies at some good places if we're leaving in just over a month and haven't even decided for sure where all we wanna eat yet?? Any time I've been there in the past we always kinda winged it and ate on the run. This time we wanna slow down a bit more and try some good food. We're pretty sure we wanna try Mama Melroses, Hollywood & Vine, Brown Derby, Garden Grill, Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Ohanas, Kona Cafe, etc but we're not sure what day, what time, etc. I've been researching various posts here to get info on some of the restaurants and was already able to eliminate some of the ones we were thinking of.

Not to worry, call and see what's available. It's better to do it before you go rather than get to a park on a particular day and not be able to get into the restaurant you want. I just made these ressies last week and I call back every once in a while and have added a few more and checked ones which were "sold" out. I'm still working on moving CRT to the day I really wanted it.

I haven't made many lunch ressies because we've loaded up on dinner places. So we usually wing them by calling on the day we are headed to a particular park and we see what's available. I like the balance between fixed and flexible.

So where would a solo traveler choose to eat during a planned trip to WDW at Holiday time?

Dinner reservations: Confirmed so far: Le Cellier, Tony's Town Square, San Angel Inn, and the Brown Derby.

Lunch reservations: Confirmed so far: Coral Reef, and the Liberty Tree Tavern.

To be reserved soon: Epcot restaurant with Candlelight dinner ticket.

The OP also asked why these spots? That's easy. Because I've enjoyed all of them before (with the exception of LeCellier and the Liberty Tree Tavern, both of which I am looking forward to because of all the excellent reviews on this site).

popcorn::

We leave a week from tomorrow -finally!
Here are our ADRs all for dinner. Counter service on the fly for lunch.

Ohana
Boma
Le Cellier
Coral Reef

Yum Yum!

:goodvibes

I made some reservations 6 days in advance, some 2 months in advance. I really do not think you will have a problem if you call now to make your reservations. Our friend made the ones 2 months ago, and she couldn't get us into a few of the restaurants at the times we wanted (they have kids and didn't want to eat past 6:30). When she made the reservation for hollywood and vine the ONLY time they had was like 4:40 or something, but we are also a bigger party.

i know one of my reservations is for Rose and Crown and its at 7:10 so when were done eating at 9 we can watch illuminations from there too its kinda be really cool :thumbsup2

Here is where we are eating in September for the free dining. It's our second time on free dining and we loved it last year! :thumbsup2

Day 1: Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki
Day 2: Liberty Tree Tavern
Day 3: Hollywood & Vine
Day 4: Biergarten
Day 5: Ohana
Day 6: Concourse Steakhouse
Day 7: undecided between Tempura Kiku & Coral Reef for lunch
Day 8: Donald's Breakfastosaurus & LeCellier
Day 9: The Crystal Palace

I just listed our Table service meals. We have some ideas for our counter service meals but aren't planning those out except to hit a few we really love or want to try!

As far as ADRs for TS restaurants go...

Arrival Day:
Dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe

First Day:
Breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe
Dinner at Concourse Steakhouse

Second Day:
Dinner at Artists Point

Third Day:
Dinner at San Angel Inn
Evening "bonus meal" at Rose & Crown during Illuminations :)

Fourth Day:
Breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe
Dinner at California Grill

Fifth Day:
Dinner at Mama Melrose's

Sixth Day:
Dinner at Rose & Crown

Seventh Day:
Breakfast at Whispering Canyon
Dinner at Grand Flordian Cafe

Departure Day:
Breakfast at Whispering Canyon

At all other times, we'll just eat at a counter service restaurant on the spur of the moment.

Breakfast:
Ohana
Cape May
Crystal Palace
Rainforest (AK)

Dinner:
Chef Mickey's
Liberty Tree Tavern
Le Cellier
Coral Reef
Crystal Palace

That's what we have planned so far, but more than likely some things will be added.

Here are our ADR's for Dinner we don't plan Counter service meals.

Day 1 - Ohana's
Day 2 - Chef Mickey's
Day 3 - Marrakesh
Day 4 - Sci-fi
Day 5 - Wolf gang puck Cafe
Day 6 - open as of right now

The ADR's that I've made are:

California Grill -- will be first time trying this restaurant on Free DDP
Boma's -- one of my favorites and a must do each time
Ragland Road -- new one to try
San Angel -- first time trying this one
Marrakesh -- one of my favorites

I can't wait!!

Whew. Thanks. I printed out a bunch of menus at perspective restaurants and made notes on them (I'm a vegetarian) now I have the DF going over them so he can decide which ones have things he'd eat ... I'll probably make some calls this weekend. There's no penalties for having to cancel or change times (if possible) is there?

I do not think there is a penalty at all. People on here always talk about "just cancel". Since I have never made an ADR personally, I really have no idea!
