Love this one! what lens did you use? settings? thanks
Thanks! I used the canon 100mm 2.8 macro, settings were f/4, 1/250 sec, ISO 200.

Not sure if this is extreme enough, but this is sleeping Kovu!

It's not exactly macro, and it *is* Disney related.
It's Disney's little monorail pullback toy, modified to run on a beam. Yes, those are 1" squares on the greenbackground!

Not very exciting, but here is one of salt that I took.

I've received great results with my extension tubes, I like to call them + 50mm 1.8 a poor man's macro lens. I don't really see a need to buy the 100mm macro, although it's the ideal way to get great macro shots.

The tubes can be somewhat cumbersome though getting the right combo, where a dedicated macro lens you just point and shoot.

yeah i prefer extension tubes as well. it effectively makes any lens a macro. i find that my 85 1.8 works the best and i can stack the extension tubes as required and still enough light. but i can also use other lenses - this is especially effective when i don't want to get too close to the subject (because the subject scares easily, or bites...)

so since you mount the extension tubes next to the camera they would just have to be for my camera, then any lens would fit on them...

with the macro lens filter type things( not actual macro lens...) or reverse rings what size would they be and does it casue a problem going from one lens size to another...ie do both lens have to be 58mm or can they be different sizes

that's correct. an extension tube fits between the lens and the body. the only lenses that'd you 'd have issues with are EF-S lenses, although there are some tubes which fit them.

one thing i should point out is with extension tubes, you lose the ability to focus to infinity, and beyond...

as close as i would want to get and glad there was a big thick pane of glass between us :thumbsup2

This may be the reason I had to rebuild my engine. This is a rod bearing out of a Chevy S-10 2.2.

I thought it was a snake skin. Nice picture of the Manatee. How close do they let you near the Manatee?
