Luggage in a rental?

We will have 5 people(2 being little ones) and 4 pieces of luggage. Would the luggage fit in an suv? A Mitsubishi Outlander or similar. I know that my explorer would fit 4 pieces. The rental website shows 3 pieces max. Otherwise, we will rent a minivan. Thanks.

We had a Saturn Vue. Just me & hubby. We had 3 large pieces of luggage that fit in the back. If you have more than that, I would opt for the Van.

Maybe I'm just confused, but I'd imagine even a compact SUV would be able to hold a bit more than 3pcs of luggage. According to the website, it has 60 cubic feet worth of storage space behind the 2nd row of seats.
