Lost Passport

My heart sunk while reading through this thread. Fingers and toes are crossed in Nashville that you can get your passports.:flower3:

Whole passport thing confusing. I wasn't sure what closed loop cruise meant so looked it up. Embarking and Disembarking at same U.S. port. OK, so why did a worker tell the couple right behind us with no passport that there was no way they were getting on the boat with out one? This worker was making it VERY clear that you needed PP. Cruise was out of Seattle. We stopped in Victoria, some one explained that because we stopped there we needed PP. :confused3

A closed loop cruise begins and ends in the same US city. For those cruises, at this time, the minimum requirement is a certified birth certificate and (for those 16 and over) a government issued photo ID.

That being said, cruiselines can require passports for some cruises, for example a cruise that includes a stop in Skagway, because in that port there are excursions available that will take you into Canada, even though it is a closed loop cruise.

There will be a great cheer tomorrow when this all works out! Prayers and Pixie Dust going up that this rings true!!

It's because you are going to Canada. The requirement now is to have a passport to cross the Canadian border by land, sea or air. Has nothing to do with it being a closed loop cruise or not.

Yep. Unless you're a minor. Different requirements for minors still.

I feel so nervous for the OP, and hope that everything works out.

In the last few weeks we had a mystery involving where DH's birth certificate went. We don't need it for anything forseeable, and it's easy enough to run up to King County and get another if he suddenly did need it, but we've still wondered where it went. Last saw it when using it for the Disney cruise in Feb b/c his passport had been mailed off to get a visa for China. As he packed last night for that China trip, he found it. In his CPAP machine's bag. WEIRD place! Glad to be able to put it back in the BC file.

Even though it wasn't a concern, just the really low level of "where on earth IS that?" was bothersome enough. I just really feel for the OP. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

I am trying to keep calm, it's not going to help anything if I keep freaking out. But I am extremely nervous and stressed.
Have faith, trust and pixiedust:

We were in Port Canaveral checking in and on the phone with The passport office in Miami. DH had removed his passport from the cover and we didnt realize it, until check in. ;) DCL was very encouraging, "you've got five hours to get a replacement." :crazy2:

We are going to get there at 645, we don't have an appointment as the nearest appointment is on tuesday. We are hoping the will let us go a head and get the passports since it is an emergency.

You are going to hate what I am about to say but do it so you won't be kicking yourself later.

the office opens at 7 am, there are people who have appointments so there will likely only be 1 or maybe two agents to deal with people who have emergencies, by 645 the line is going to be long, get there at 5 or 530 in the morning, yes it sucks and yes you have to wait but you will guarantee you will be first or one of the first in line. This also gives you more time in case they need documentation that you don't have with you. One more thing, make sure you have passport photos with you, if you don't have them CVS or another chain like walgreens (sorry don't know the stores in CA) does them in an hour or so.

Good luck

Kinkos or costco will do instant passport photos. Hopefully you have all other documents with you. Good luck! And I agree with PP get there early!

Just think of this as The Amazing Race DCL style.

Good Analogy, besides do you think OP will be able to sleep tonight anyway?

By the way there are CVS drugstores EVERYWHERE in the LA area. If you still need a passport photo go find one :)

As long as you arrive with everything you have a good shot of being at the port with shiny new passports by 4... (My first stop would be the bar but... :) )

That's what I thought. Just got confused with all the input. Safe to say you need a passport for cruising period, no matter where you go. Witness a couple miss ship in Ketchikan, next stop was Canada. Wonder what they needed to do, im sure their passports were on board.

Let's not put any more pressure on her to accomplish something else on Monday.

I know it'll be hard, but if OP can't get back to us until she's off the cruise, that'll be fine.
