LOST - Last Season (NO SPOILERS)

I actually enjoyed the Richard episode and am looking forward to watching it again tomorrow with the extra info added as subtitles.

Now that Dancing with the Stars is back on the enhanced LOST reruns are over. I, for one, will miss them.

Based on last weeks episode, I am left with a question....

OK, so Richard knows that Jacob brings people to the island, and what for. If he knows what Jacob's plan is, why did he allow Ben and the Other's to be so hostile to anyone that comes to the Island? Shouldn't they have welcomed them and given them shelter?

Ben and his crew have killed many people, was that Jacob allowing free will? Why did Richard allow it?

Yes, we are getting answers, but those answer create more questions!!!

well, crap, I have been enjoying the enhanced shows. I should have kept last week's episode recorded for re-watching tomorrow. Oh well, I'll just have to be satisfied with one hour of Lost tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing more of Sun & Jin :goodvibes

Well, clearly Ben (at least) had never talked to Jacob prior to the day he stabbed him. Therefore, I deduce that Ben made up his own "instructions from Jacob." Is it possible the same was true of Widmore before him? If so, I'm guessing that the situation set up between Jacob and Richard was that Richard could lobby on behalf of what Jacob wanted (or whatever Richard believed he would want), but he was there as an advisor, not the leader. Therefore, he could make his case, but he couldn't take control and force the Others to do the right thing, because that would circumvent Jacob's desire to prove that people could do the right thing on their own.

Actually, I don't think this is new question, per se, but rather one that was always there and just hasn't been answered yet.

When MIB sent Richard to kill Jacob, did anybody notice how similar that scene was to when the Samurai temple guy sent Sayid out to kill Locke? Was it the same knife? Is there any significance there?

I also really enjoyed the Sawyer episode. I did think it was odd that as a cop he assisted Kate in escaping. Sawyer with Charlotte was odd . I did like Sawyer and Miles's interactions.

I really think Sawyer is going to end up doing something heroic. As much as he talks tough, he's always looking out for his friends.

I didn't see if anyone had answered this yet, but yeah, it was almost the exact same scene. The same knife and the same instructions, to stab Jacob before he said anything, and before, it was to stab Flocke before Flocke could speak. I have a feeling that will be significant later on. :thumbsup2

Remember back when Ben demanded of Locke that he had to kill his father? He told him to leave the group (Others), and could only return after he killed his father and was carrying him on his back when he returned. Ben knew that Locke would be unable to do that. Richard however, took the knowledge that Cooper was the man responsible for Sawyer's parent's death and handed it over to Locke. He knew Sawyer would have no problem killing Cooper.

This kind of proved that your post is probably fairly accurate, IMO.

Or maybe.....the instructions that Ben THOUGHT came from Jacob really came from MIB? He's quite the manipulator, and will do anything to get what he wants. Impersonating Jacob would fit right into his plans.

It would, but Ben said he'd never spoken to Jacob before the Locke-ness Monster took him inside the statue -- so he was never fooled into thinking he was speaking to Jacob, either.

Ben said that? OMG I totally missed that. So, all that time, when Jacob was in the cabin, Ben was faking it? He never heard Jacob speak to him?

Locke did though? Is that why Ben was so shocked?

I'm so EXCITED about tonight. Yes, it's a Sun and Jin episode and those always tend to be a bit boring, but tonight there is a special guest that will have me glued to the screen. :cheer2: I can't figure out why my DH is not as excited about it as I am. :rotfl:

That's what I think was the last straw when Ben stabbed Jacob. He said, "what about me?" Jacob responded, "what about you?" Ben immediately stabbed him then.

He was asking Jacob why after he committed himself totally to Jacob and the Island, and after all those years, he was ignored, but Locke walks in and demands to see him right after becoming the leader, and he's ushered right on in. Of course, he doesn't know that Locke is actually, Flocke.

EDIT: About the cabin, was it Jacob that was in there? My guess would be not. Remember, Llana said that Jacob hadn't been in there for a very long time. I'd bet my last dollar that it was the MIB being held captive in that cabin (probably why the ash circled it and that ash was broken when Llana entered - thus explaining why he's not being held captive now).

Okay, stupid question:

Was it Desmond that showed up at the very end of tonight's episode? (Widmore's people were dragging him, and he saw Sayid) The scene was dark and I had too many lights on in here... I couldn't tell! :3dglasses I'm assuming so, because he showed up in so many of the "Next week, on Lost" scenes...am I right?

Thanks!

Yep, it was Desmond!! It's great seeing him back.

was anyone else annoyed at the constant V countdown clock on the screen?

I mean, I know ABC is desperate to keep people watching a show that hasn't had a new episode in 5 months, but geez...

Yes, it totally blocked out what Sun was writing in response to Jack's questions!

OH YES!!! I told DH how annoying the countdown and the ads too.

I noticed that too, he told the same lines to Richard about not to let him talk.

No re run of the episode :( dancing with the stars was on, I was looking forward to watch it again.

That would makes sense, especially where Locke heard someone whisper "help me". However, it was the same time that the island was being terrified by the smoke monster, which we now know is MIB. If he was being held captive in the cabin, then how would he get out as the smoke monster and not be able to stay out?

Unless, he is only allowed to be the smoke monster for a short time. Last night, Sawyer asked him why he didn't just turn into smoke and float over to the next Island, and he said it wasn't that easy. So there must be rules or something.

Here's a question I have...do we think that Christian's body was being used by MIB? We saw Christian in that cabin more than a few times. Christian was the one who helped get them all back, now we know it is MIB who needed them all together, and not Jacob. Notice, we have not seen Christian since Flocke appeared.

Yeah, I keep wondering why Flocke doesn't go all smoky and kill everyone on the island except the people he "needs". I know the pylons keep him out of Widmore's camp now, but there are people on the beach that aren't on the list.

I definitely think MIB was using Christian's body. Also, remember when the oceanic 6 were coming back to the island on the Ajira plane, Eloise wanted them to re-create the original flight as much as possible, so Locke's body was supposed to be a substitute for Christian's body. Jack put his dad's shoes on Locke too.
SO glad to see Desmond back! We have always known he was special, maybe next week's episode we'll find out why.
Widmore told Jin that if the MIB left the island then his daughter would cease to exist - do you think that meant that everyone would die, or that the sideways timeline is really the MIB-gets-off-the-island timeline where Sun and Jin are not married?

I agree. Smokey was Christian, Alex, Yemi and every other weird apparition on the island.

I also think Eloise is in Smokey's camp...maybe that was the falling out between Whitmore and Eloise.

I also had that thought. That the sideways timeline are what happens when Smokey escapes the island.
