LOSE BEFORE YOU CRUISE - Support Thread for all Cruisers

Any women out there in their early 40's who somehow have gained 10 pounds in a year and now not one of those pounds is willing to budge, even with pretty healthy eating??? I admit, until a week ago, I didn't do much regular exercise, but was a fairly healthy eater. Even cutting back on calories didn't seem to move a single pound, so *sigh* I'm working at getting in some good exercise at least 5 days per week. After about 10 days, still no pounds gone. I'm thinking I may need to keep the exercise going while trying a 'structured' diet.

Any suggestions??? We're cruising in two months and I refuse to buy bigger clothes! (My mother says that this is how it is as a woman in my 40's, but I don't accept that!)

I am in a similar situation but it was more like 10 pounds a year for a couple of years. I tried dieting but nothing ever lasted. I finally decided it had to just be excercise related. I started a couch to 5K running program with the goal of the Castaway Cay 5K race. It sounds really daunting but it has not been bad. I started 4 weeks ago and I did add lifting weights a little too. The first week (working out/running-walking 3X a week) nothing happened. The second week I gained weight :furious: I just finished the 4th week and have lost 7 pounds from where I started and things really fit much better. The 5K program is 9 weeks. I just looked it up online and you can repeat weeks if you need to. By the end of next week I am supposed to be able to run 2 miles. :crazy2: I have never liked running but actually find myself looking forward to workout days. I would like to loose 20 more pounds but our next cruise is not untill next fall so I am hopeful. I also set my self little rewards for a week of workouts completed. Like pedicures and massages. Best of luck.

So, I have A LOT of weight to lose before our cruise in January---thank goodness we still have 4 and a half months to go :) I`ve lost 26 lbs so far and would like to drop another 24 before we sail. I, too, am using the Castaway Cay 5K as an incentive for losing weight.

Just wondering if it's worked for anyone? I am going to try it. I want to lose 25 lbs. before next October 2014 and our Wonder Cruise!

Has anyone been using MyFitness Pal app for tablets. I just found it and it is awesome. I used the website but the app look so much better. It has charts and a scanner where you can add thing to food diary by scanning the barcode on the food. It even has tutorial videos on how use the features on the app within the app. Ultimately I would like to lose 30lbs before next May. I do not know if that is feasible. :)

I'm right there with you. Ever since I started "the change", my metabolism is nearly non-existent. If anyone has some suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. :confused3

Ideally, I need to lose 60 pounds. I would be very happy to lose 40. Now that we don't 100+ temps outside, I am going to start walking in the mornings. :cool1:

I'd like to know this also. I won't purchase online. I need to find it in a store.

Any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone. I too have unwanted pounds to shed. 60 of the little buggers in fact. I've been gradually adding to my weight since my daughter was born. Having kids after 40 is definitely a challenge for weight loss. I lost my baby weight a few months after my other 4 children but I was much younger. And more active if the truth be known. After reading the comments on this thread I'm feeling more hopeful that I can lose the weight. Downloaded the MyFitnessPal app and am starting the road to a healthier me today. Alaska Jun 30,2014 here I come.

Not sure how I would add someone on MFP. Do you know?

Yep, go to community, then click on find friends, and there is a field to enter a username. Once you click on that, then you can send a request to add them.

My husband started the 90 day challenge to lose weight 10 days ago and is doing really well.
Those in the states will have heard of it I'm sure, but its new in the UK.

PM me whichever side of the pond you're from though and will let you know more if its of interest

I have lost 13 lbs since September 12. This weeks weight lose has only been about 1.8lbs. Only 21 more to go before May.

Wow, it's so cool to see so many people on here! I too am trying to lose about 15 more pounds (Ive only lost 5 so far). I don't know that Ill meet my goal in 3 weeks before our cruise, but I want to know I gave it my all! Which with being a single parent, working full time, and taking 3 online college classes is a littler tougher than I thought it would be! But I'm gonna keep at it! :cheer2:

Since January I have lost 15 of my 25 pounds!
I made R2 of the Disney Parks Moms Panel search but am not moving on to R3...
So I'm going to set a goal to lose 5 pounds more by New Years. (Yes, during the holidays.)

Who wants to join me?

My challenge this week is to log my food again and by extension, return to drinking more water.

If you want to join in, let me know!
