LOSE BEFORE YOU CRUISE - Support Thread for all Cruisers

This is a great forum! I am trying to get back into running consistently since the Texas heat is starting to cool off a bit. I'd like to drop 10 lbs by my December cruise. Good luck to everyone here!!

Hi. How is everyone doing? Any stress eating tips are welcome. Sis and I are doing land/sea October 2016. Need motivation to get into shape for pics and stamina! Plus maybe some flexibility for quick fit into those rides!

Hi. Just found this thread. I would like to join in. Really need to get focused on losing at least 30 lbs. A little bit more would not hurt but a girls has to start somewhere. I have fallen off of the bus since a year ago in October and really need to get regrouped. Our cruise in June 2016 and all of the pictures are a good reason to do so.

Hi. 30 lbs would be heaven for me. N cruise w/ sis in October 2016. Having trouble with not noshing watching football. Football on tonite? Yup uh-oh. Will try to get in a walk and do air popped popcorn instead of chocolate and pizza. Will see how it goes!

Hello, we cruise in 1 year but leave for a month in Mexico in February...I have 50 lbs. to lose and just don't know where to start, I have a husband that can eat anything and everything and look amazing, but then again he works 17 hour days...I am a SAHM and a homeschooling mom, so I am either seated a lot or in the car. I joined the Y recently and am too scared to go into the gym. WE go 3 times a week and we go into the pool or the kids go into the kids gym, but I just am afraid everyone will stare and point or something equally ridiculous that I know makes ZERO sense...

No one will stare at you, especially at a gym like the Y. If it was some really costly elite fancy "hoity toity" gym, maybe. But the Y is for everyone. You'd be surprised how people will view you when you go into the gym - most people are too self absorbed to really even notice you or care. The other people will either encourage you (subconsciously or out loud) or be encouraged BY you ("look at her working out and taking control of her life! That makes me want to do that, too!"). You are there for yourself, to be healthier, stronger, and happier. Exude determination and work out; I promise, no one will bat an eye. :o

Fake it till u make it. That's my policy on intimidating things I have to do. Try the gym...u like u go more....not for u...try something else. Anyone showing u disrespect is really showing their own insecurities. Have not over eaten yet. But the nite is young. I enjoy giving advice more than dieting!

Thank you all very much for the comments, I appreciate it. We are headed there tomorrow and I told my kids to make sure I leave in gym shoes, so I don't have an excuse! They are old enough to do everything at the Y themselves, so I don't need to use them as an excuse to not doing something else while there.

I have close to 50 lbs to lose too. I could tell I was jumping up there and feel miserable. I am the biggest I have ever been in my life. Even more than when I was pregnant with either of my girls. I decided to go back to a program I have done in the past. Went yesterday to get started and am in the prep phase now to detox and get my metabolism going. My goal is to go and weigh in 3 times a week and check in here too in an attempt to keep myself honest and accountable. I need to get back to zumba and bootcamp. Schedules are hard and I feel guilty when I go to zumba instead of bootcamp just because I love the coach and people at bootcamp. Zumba just has more schedule options. I need to get over it, get to bootcamp when I can and ensure I am doing something such as zumba or walking.
