Looking for Nov 9th ~ 7 Day Western Magic Cruisers!

Shecara glad to hear your mil is stabilized and hubby is home.

Patty good for you $35 saved is $35 toward your next trip. When we flew Delta in Jan 2000 we booked at 196 and they dropped twice first to158 then to 112.It really helped our Aug trip as the flights cost 57 for all four of us.

Bob I hope you are staying safe I am petrified to drive through there.I was really hoping the man they had was the sniper.

Bonnie here are more prayers and pixie dust.I hope your sister has a good suppport systen for help with your nephew.

Denise Glad to hear you are OK.I would have been very shaken up after witnessing an accident so close.
All of this really makes you count your blessings. Let's pray for pixie dust and positive news for all the 11/9 cruisers.
We leave 2 weeks from Friday andI have nothing to wear. UGH

Well lets see now, Can't get gas, can't go to Home Depot, can't go to Michaels Crafts, it is a little crazy here:(

But Can go on the Cruise:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Keeping a low profile til then. Looking forward to the last person standing challenge:cool:

Keep you arms and legs in side the vehicle until it comes to a complete stop;) I wish I could recite this in Spanish as it is our favorite thing to hear on the mono rail at WDW.:)

NO HOME DEPOT!!! That would just kill my DH!
But he wouldn't get caught in a Michaels Crafts store anyways.

"Seeing as I don't drink Like I Used to (in my younger days) I'll probably have to concede on the "LAST PERSON STANDING CHALLENGE"........ Of course you may all want to place your bets that I will be the first one down!!!

"Maybe we will be having our own Magical Mystery Cruise"

Have you seen the storms that are brewing out past Grand Cayman?

smiles Patty

That would be tropical depression #14. Not suposed to be an event. may mess up fishing for me this weekend, but if it follows the predicted path it will be long gone before this Saturday.

Word is they have a list of suspects here, keep your fingers crossed, hopefully they are closing in on this looser.

Hi Everyone!

I worked at my Lancaster office today, so I'm just catching up...

Bob-
Hope you have a good fishing trip. I fish out of Hatteras when we're there every summer. Seas can be rough even on a nice day. Be careful. I always wanted to go for tuna, but we're there during marlin/dolphin/wahoo season. Still good to eat.

Patty-
Checked our flight on Delta's web site, but it was up $50 from the last time I looked. I don't hold out much hope for a price drop for us.

So...
I wonder when we should start watching the coast of Africa for tropical waves to worry about? Two weeks out? One week?

Praying for good weather! I don't want to miss Castaway for a third time!!!!!!!

Air fares just aren't what they used to be. I've never paid more than $200 RT from Boise to MCO. DH,DD,DS all had enough Frequent flyer miles for a free ticket. I wanted to just fly in the Friday before, but, the flight was almost sold out back in July, so Delta wouldn't allow me to use their FF miles for tickets, so we had to fly out on Thursday instead and come back on Sunday instead of Saturday. I didn't care what I really paid for mine, since theirs were free, but, $358 seemed like a lot of MONEY! But considering I didn't have to pay for theirs it wasn't too bad of a deal. But, I've been periodically checking it. I think it dropped $8. right after I bought it, but that wasn't worth the effort. I checked again late last night and saw that it dropped to $323. Enough for me to decide I should do something. It really WAS effortless and took me about 2-3 minutes on the phone. The really funny thing is, there aren't any seats even available for the leg between SLC and MCO. Maybe I should let them bump us for
a free ticket?????

BUMP-BUMP-BUMP

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Talk to you all when I come home from lunch..........

Hi everybody,
I'm between cases so this will be short. I think TD 14 may be the end of it. Nonetheless Kyle lasted nearly a month so we should keep an eye on the African coast from here on. Even so, just being on the the ship with our new drinking buddies and a few thousand fathoms beneath the keel will still work just fine for me and dh. Cheers Wes:crazy:

Hey, Bob-

I look in at this web site from time to time. Thought you might like to check it out this week. Looks like the offshore fishing in Hatteras has been on hold due to weather yesterday. Sounds like they had a great day on Monday! Hope you get out...

Thanks Linda,
Me too :( The forcast is for 4 ft seas on Saturday, our charter day, which should be OK. We have booked the Top Billin out of Hatteras Marina, it is a 46 Ft custom Carolina. As our fishing team motto goes, " Hey we are here to drink Beer..If we happen to catch a fish, so be it" :)

Last year we had one sitation yellow fin just over 70 lbs, four yellow fins around the 50 lb mark and one 60 lb Waahoo. What a beautiful fish. I have never seen such color. Good eating too! Everyone went home with a cooler full of fish filets. It is such a rush to reel in a fish from depths of over 600 FT. Last year was my rookie year and they put me on the first fish. It was one of the 50 pounders. I thought I would die before I even saw what I was attempting to reel in. Just when you think you are making ground the fish decides otherwise and peels off about a million miles of line. Of course all this time your "friends" are discussing the reasons why you are having so much difficulty with what is most likely a very small fish. They are asking you questions regarding your manhood etc. Boy is pay back fun. In anycase it will remain on my yearly pilgramage trip list as long as I can manage it.

We have a house rented right on the beach, so we will try our luck at surf casting on Friday.

I'll give you the full report on Monday, and hopefully will have a few photos of the ones that did not get away:smooth:

We fished on the White Lightning out of Teach's Lair this year. I had an embarassing moment when I was fighting a wahoo in the fighting chair and my shirt got caught in the gears of the big reel. I was wondering why I couldn't turn the crank anymore. I know I'm not as young as I used to be... The mate got a big knife and cut the shirt out. My arms were like rubber from trying to hold on while all that was going on!

I'll look for your report on Monday.

BTW - we usually take our cleaned fish to Risky Business Seafood at Oden's Dock and they vacuum pack it and they have it ready for us to take it home on dry ice.

Linda

Thanks for the tip on packaging. That must have been a site to see with your shirt in the reel. :D

We did not use the chair last year. We went out of Oregon Inlet on the Calcutta. Just used the fighting belt and a whole lot of back ache ,
Ouch.

I just hope the weather is nice, Once we got into the gulf stream last year the water was like glass. We spotted giant manta rays, pilot whales and several porpoise.

Bob

Gone Fishin....

We are finally dipping into the low 70's now that a cold front is moving through... :p We have pretty much stayed in the high 80's a low 90's until today. Could you guys believe that? I really wish we saw a change of season down here.. Our seasons are HOT and less HOT with an occasional cool... Our grass and trees are ALWAYS green.

Bob, let me give this a try: "Por favor mantenga sus brazos y piernas dentro del vehiculo hasta que pare completamente". I don't know if this is right but I gave it my best shot. Anything to make you guys feel better.

It's a shame that my dad isn't coming on this trip with us.. He and Bob would have really hit it off... He is a commercial fisherman down here. He mainly catches lobster, stone crab, shrimp (sometimes) and whatever fish get in the other traps - red and yellow tail snapper, grouper, parrot... He doesn't fish with a reel but it is still fun for him, no doubt.

Talk later,

Denise

In Idaho we don't "FISH" we take our Night Crawlers for a "SWIM" And if something decides to eat one......so be it!

smiles Patty

I have to say my favorite fishing, consists of Catfishing up at Hells Canyon at Night. A straight shot of Jack Daniels and a thermos of Coffee to keep you warm.........

Hi fellow cruisers - just reporting in - MIL is hanging in there, DH and I celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary yesterday, and we leave 2 weeks from Saturday!

Bob, hope ya catch a BIG one - love the little blue fishy! Keep Safe!

Denise - all we can remember from the monorail announcement is our version "Por Favor Montingancy" and laugh everytime!

Patty - you don't bait your own hook do ya?? (yuck) I'm not a "fisherperson"

Toni - don't worry too much about the clothes - like they say - you won't see "these people again!" Are you going to WDW pre-cruise? If so where are you staying?

Linda & Wes - thanks for the weather updates - remember all POSITIVE thoughts! Linda - I think missing Castaway 3 times would be a record - and we are not out to set any records ~ right folks!!! I agree with Wes - just take me away from the real world - with family and new friends - and I'll be a happy camper!

Have a good weekend all - I'll try to check in again -but I have an Accupressure Seminar on Sat & Sun, and not sure if I'll get a chance - Talk to you all again soon!

Take care,
Sher

Time is flying it is getting closer........... Almost 3 weeks until we have that Infamous "LIFEBOAT DRILL"
For all of you 1st time cruisers you may want to start practicing for this early!!! I would first go to the store and buy a 100 pak of party balloons. You can start by blowing those up. This will help to exercise your lungs by increasing their capacity so that when it is your turn to blow up your life boat, Your job will be much easier. You need to take charge and work as a team, so that your fellow "lifeboat mates" will have all the confidence in you should a deployment of Lifeboats be necessary. :teeth:

Okay, lets be honest with ourselves on these questions........:earseek:

1. How many of you have started Packing?
2. How many of you have taken your luggage out of storage?
3. Who has their documents filled out?
4. Found your birth certificate or passport?
5. Bought or found your over the door shoe holder?
6. Finished Clothes shopping?
7. Bought a roll of quarters and Laundry soap tablets?
8. Made a list of alcoholic beverages to purchase pre-cruise?
9. Purchased one of those propane powered blenders in the CABELLA'S catalog, so you can make your OWN Frosty drinks!
10. Made a shopping list for "Fairvilla's" in Port Canaveral.:smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

Have a great weekend everyone.........
smiles Patty

Patty,

Let’s not scare the new cruisers about the lifeboat drill!! Are you trying to get them to drop out, so that you have a better chance of more empty cabins, which may = that upgrade you’ve been hoping for????

Realistically folks, I think a better description of the infamous drill would be to blow up those balloons, tie them ALL around you neck, then stand in the hot sun (or maybe a tanning salon – depending upon where you live, and what your weather is like these days!) Keep standing there for say about 20 minutes, or until all the inconsiderate cruisers on the ship decide that “Mandatory” really must mean “Mandatory”, and they realize that “everyone” includes them.

Oh, also in answer to you questions ~ here goes:
1. I have.
2. It’s out!
3. Not yet – planning to do that on the long train ride.
4. Got em’!
5. Got it!
6. I hope so!
7. No & Yes
8. Still discussing that one
9. I don’t think so – to much work for me!
10. What is Fairvilla’s??

TGIF!!

Sher

OK Patty here goes.
1 &2 Luggage is out packing is started
3 haven't touched the docs
4 know where they are but haven't gotten them out
5-10 No but I am salivating thinking about the Bon Voyage drink:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We leave 2 weeks from tonight for that LONG drive UGH.It is worth the trip.

Shecara we are visisting relatives in Orlando the first week. We have 2 day passes left from Christmas so we will probably go to the parks those days. I am thinking about doing Universal and the kids always want to do Sea World. This is the first year we don't have annuals though.
You guys are terrible scaring people about the lifeboat drill. But you forgot the kids that hit you with their jackets on the way out because when they are told not to take them off unti they get back to their room they are sure it doesn't mean them and the people who continue to speak loudly throughout the drill so theat the rest of us have no idea what is going on.:smooth:

Just wanted to see our countdown to port arrival clock! Still haven't seen or heard about many 4 & 6 year olds on board!?!? Anybody??? What are the chances that kids clubs will be empty (LOL)? Seriously, what is the fewest number of kids (and most number) in the clubs you've seen? Our girls are on the shy side. Will this be a problem in the clubs? Should we put the 6 year old in the 3&4 yr old group to be with her sister or will she be board?
