Hey Wes, for what it's worth, if you are paying less than $40.00 on mask fins and snorkle, it is most likely junk. That is not discounting for an incredible sale which we all stumble on.

US Divers stuff comes in a wide range of quality so becareful. Dacor stuff is for the most part good to high quality. Spending 50 on a tri view mask ialone s easy to do but it will last forever if you take care of it. The key to a mask is fit. if you can't hold the mask to your face easily by breathing in through your nose with no strap then forget it. This is important for kids with small faces. You should be able to let go and shake your head and the mask should stay put. This works best with high silicone containing materials ( Ok no silicone jokes now). Fins become more of a personal preference. open toes let the sand filter through, strap on types versus boot etc. Its is a comfort thing.

I am sure ron jons will have some high quality equipment, and possiblely at off season prices.

Bob, thanks for the advice. You sound like you know whereof you speak and that is appreciated. We will try Ron Jons and perhaps swing by Fairvillas, too. No pun intended. We enjoyed the whole snorkel experience so much that I believe it will become at least one excursion on each cruise and we are anxious to get our own gear. DW and I are doing back to backs next summer, 1st week as a family reunion and the second week as just the two of us aka another second honeymoon while we send the dweebs back to the Vacation Club. If you've ever seen that credit card commercial with the monkeys dressed in tuxes spending all your money we suspect that is what Old Key West will look like while mom and dad are still on the ship!!! By the way, we figured no matter what we'll meet you back on the ship pre-teen cruise and head out into the nightlife of Cozumel and Senor Frogs right along with you. I even snagged myself a new HAWAIIAN shirt today just for the occassion. DH informed me that my really nice light colored one, would probably get ruined by that BIG HOLE in MY LIP. I can be such a slob when it comes to UPSIDE DOWN MARGARITAS!

I would love to do the dolphin swim, not the encounter, but sounds like it is sold out. Kudos to Linda for planning ahead on that one

Do you think Playa Del Sol is safe to do on our own? Is it going to be a pain trying to find transportation for 5 of us? Is anyone doing the Disney excursion?

Hey Toni,
I would have absolutely no concerns about doing it on your own. We too have a party of 5 so hopefully we can squeeze in a cab.

We are flying down on Friday at O' Dark thirty to have the day to play before the cruise. We drove last December for a week at WDW. I'd have no problems on driving again but I had the frequent flier tickets so we went that route.

You should be fine on the drive, as you know just get around DC on non rush hour times. Take a look on the Occoquan River as you cross on 95 South of the beltway. That is where we keep our boat.

Unfortunately the season is winding down as the cold weather is closing in.

If you want we can team up and taxi down to Playa del Sol. I am not sure how many people the vans carry. I prefer the do it yourself mode as you can stay or leave as you please. As Patty noted above we have DS signed up for the teen cruise so we will be back in plenty of time for that.

We are a CONFUSED mess in Idaho.......I'll tell you that!!!

Everyone wants to go shopping, everyone wants to go to the beaches, everyone wants to go see Chankanaab, Everyone wants to go to Playa Sol and then we all have to be back on the boat by 5:00 pm so DD can turn herself from a Pumpkin to a Princess....... Everyone is ABSOLUTELY driving me nuts at this point.

Bob, so glad the got the snipers - my niece goes to UMD, and the last shooting was 15 mins from where she lives. I know it was real close to home for you and yours too. It sounds pretty much like they got the right guys. We were concerned since we have to get on the AutoTrain in Lorton VA, which seems to be in the middle of everything, and were very worried about making that trip next saturday.

Next Saturday....OMGoodness! I guess that means that I have to REALLY pack this weekend! I think all the shopping has been done - at this point - if we don't have it with us -we'll buy it there, or go without! I can't believe it's almost here!

Patty - the reason that we stress so much before vacation, is so that we can relax that much more when we get there! (At least that's what I keep telling myself!)

I am thinking about canceling our ressie on Cozumel for the Ocean Explorer, and we will probably just do a beach day at Mr Sancho's or Chankaba(sp)sorry ~ you all know what I mean!
