Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and pixie dust .... keep it comin'!!

DH is still in NC. This is the longest we've been apart in 20 years -well, almost - it will be 20 years on the 16th of this month! MIL is hanging in there - it still could go either way, there isn't much they can do for her, they are going to move her to a acute-care facility/nursing type home at the end of the week. The Dr's want to run one more test tomorrow. She's been in this kind of situation about 4 or 5 times since the begining of the year - we say she's like the energizer bunny - she just keeps going and going..... it's pretty much a miracle that she's still around with all that she has wrong with her.

So here I sit -trying not to think about the trip or get my hopes up - not knowing what will go on - right now we are going - but you never know what tomorrow may bring. We have 23 more days until we are supposed to leave for WDW the week before.

Can't wait for DH to come home - last night I had to clean up dog puke on my brand new living room carpet, and off of my brand new ottoman! Tonight I get to plunge the toilet! :earseek:

If we do end up on the cruise - I will be the one with the never ending Cosmopolitan in hand!

Have a good night all!
Sher

Isn't that how it always goes........as soon as the men in our life leave...... the house falls apart!
I used to hate it when DH left town. He was always gone for at least 2 weeks. I actually had the garage door come off the tracks and on top of the car once.
Take a deep breath and start the cosmos early.
smiles Patty

We watch that show as a family. It's so much fun - a race around the world in teams of two. Last year, we surprised our two kids with the Eastern cruise and didn't tell them anything until it was time to leave for the airport. Even then, it was only the first of their clues we had written in advance (Amazing Race style). They had to figure out we were going to the airport, then which airline and flight. It threw them off a while that we had a layover in Atlanta. The whole thing was great fun and the look on their faces when they realized the final clue led them to the DCL bus was priceless!

All this to say that last night's episode led the teams to Cozumel. They had to go to Chankanaab and dive for their next clue at the Dolphin Swim. The kids got soooo excited!!!!!

Leaving 4 weeks from tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Linda

Hey Linda,
Great show we also watch as a family, although DS doesn't think it is cool so he watches on a seperate TV

Hang in there Sher, we are really pulling for you and your family. Hey you started this thread, you have to go:D

Things are crazy here in Norther VA/Washington Metro area as I am sure you are all aware from the constant media attention. Last night hit too close to home ( less than 5 miles ). Although not officially linked yet it still scares the pants off the kids and me too. It is a sad day when you have to wonder if it is safe to stop at the local gas station to fill up

You have to go on living but it is a shame that one individual can put so much fear into the daily lives of innocent people.

Ok back to the celebration.

What are the opinions of all you veterans out there on where to eat lunch on embarkation day??? That's "all you all" for the Southerners in the field;)

First of all, our prayers and best wishes go out to you, Shercara. We have been through similar circumstances recently, too. We hope you are there when we meet at the ESPN. Debbie said the first round of Cosmos are on her:sunny: :sunny: The best cosmo on thre cruise, she might add, are made in the Promanade Lounge by Joval. You can start there!!

This will be our sixth DCL cruise and we belive the best lunch at embarkation time is the buffet in Parrot's Cay. The food was terrific and it was not as crowded as Topsider's. Everybody seems to want to go there. This June when we got on we were directed to Parrot's Cay but certainly could have gone to Topsiders but went where we were told like the good little lemmings we are.:p

By the way, one last omment about embarkation. Literally within seconds of getting on board (The echos of our being announced on board were still rattling around the atrium.) when we were pounced upon by the stewards selling the wine package. We bought it, the premium one in fact. It was over $250. I will go on record as saying it was worth it, but my point is this, wait until you actually bget to dinner and see if your table mates might want to split the expense. The couple we were travelling with, unbeknownst to us, bough the prem. package also and the table was awash with wine! We even took two bottles home with us.

Enough already, I must return to work. Our very best to all and we'll catch up with everybody later!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc wes

Sher, my prayers are with your family. And Bob, prayers for your family too. It must be scary only being 5 miles from the shooting.
I haven't been on the Disboard all week because my sweet DSIL was just diagnosed with Ovarian and colon cancer. She is only 20 years old and has a 1 month old baby boy. Please keep her and my DB and their son in your prayers. This was such a shock to all of us! I haven't even been thinking about the cruise this week. But I am glad we only have 4 more weeks.

Smiles and prayers to all,
Bonnie

Oh Bonnie I am so sorry.I hope your sister in law has a good doctor and gets treatment. How sad!!!!Here are many prayers and lots of pixie dust for her and her family.

Bob that is very scary being close to all that is happening down there. I know we visited Six Flags America, Washington DC, Baltimore, Annapolis and Lura Caverns over the summer. Just seeing that it was in the surrounding area was scary enough for me. I can't imagine being there now. Stay safe and protect your family. This guy is really nuts.

I am so sorry to hear about your DSIL, that is very difficult for a person of any age, but, a woman so young and with a newborn it has to be very tough. Loads of Pixie dust coming your way. Your SIL,DB and DN will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Well it has been along day at work.......
But, the hot tub we ordered 6 weeks ago was finally here last night so DH had it all ready and waiting when I got home from work.

smiles Patty

(and the rest of you) What the heck is a Cosmo? I've heard of them, but never tried one.

But, if someone is buying me one, I'm going to have to drink it!
:smooth:

smiles Patty

Hi egain everyone!
I get to check in here sporadically, between computer crashes!
***Sher, Bonnie, Bob.....sending tons of prayers and pixie dust your way for the health and safety of you & your families!!!
***Patty: a cosmo is a "Cosmopolitan" martini. Very yummy!!! I'll buy! ;)
I can't believe we head out of here in just 25 days for our 4 day X-country trek!!! Woo Hoo!!! DH got his vacation request signed, to be gone for a month! We're all booked and ready to go!!.....well, OK, we haven't packed...or figured out what we're taking....or.....decided how much $$$ we should spend....hmmm, maybe we're not as ready as we thought!!! Now where did we put those birth certificates and lime green ribbon???? ;) See you soon!!!!

Bonnie,
Our sincere wishes for your sister in law. Hopefully being young she will have the strength to fight and reach a full recovery.

We are definitly keeping our heads down here, unfortunately our king size bed has shrunk as both DD's can't sleep alone.:(

Hey guys I found a cool site thanks to another post for all those smiley faces.

Here is my new cruise moto

Patty, what do you think? :smooth:

Bob,

Just saw that there was another gas station shooting this AM near Fredericksburg! Be careful. Thinking about you and your family - this is such an unexplainable, incomrehensible thing especially for the kids to try to understand.

Looks like they've got roadblocks up on I-95.

Linda

It is really getting nerve racking. They are now telling everyone not to buy gas next to an interstate. Well for those not from the congested East coast, that does not leave too many gas stations.

They confirmed yesterdays shooting as the same guy. This mornings follows the same pattern. I hope they find this %&#@* really soon.

All the Best,
Bob

Thanks to everyone for the prayers for my DSIL.

I got home from work today and saw a box from Fed Ex sitting on the piano. The documents have finally arrived! I think I'm the last to get them. I don't think DH is as excited as I am that they came. Oh well.

Have a great week-end.

Bonnie

Great Idea on the Wine Package........

Hey Bob, We'll link our dinner ressies with you if you buy the premium wine package!! :smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

Hey bob...Loved your new smilies..........

sorry to hear about the additional shootings....gosh it has got to be tough.

just home for lunch, check back with everyone later.
smiles Patty
