CAMMIE! I'm so jealous! Have a great time with your girls and bring back lots of pics! :dance3:

Erin, like Jillian said, we all have different plans for Christmas Eve - it kind of depends on your family traditions - we are from so many nationalities - I grew up getting together with family on Christmas Eve, exchanging all of our gifts, having a nice dinner, reading the bible story, singing carols and staying up really late. On Christmas Day, we got up early to see what Santa brought, and then got together with family again for a big turkey dinner and to watch football and play with our new toys.

Jim grew up with not much on Christmas Eve, and celebrating early Christmas morning with all of the gifts, then a big breakfast, then Christmas dinner with family somewhere later in the day.

MickeyMom, you had quite a day! :scared1: I'm glad your hubby is doing well, and I hope that little lady is okay. Good for DD on getting the gift card!
What does your DH do? He sounds like mine - never admits when he's in pain or sick. I was surprised his knee surgery actually got him down for awhile, but last week he was crawling on the roof and trimming the tree.

Laura, I hope Katherine does better tonight. It is so hard when the little ones won't sleep. I'm jealous of your gas - ours is $2.13, which we are celebrating about! Who would of guessed?

Jillian, hope you get the job - nice to work from home.:thumbsup2 Kara really makes it sound great!

Tina, I hope you get to go to WDW soon! How did the CPAP work out? I think it would keep me up - I have a hard time falling asleep anyway.

I have to try to get some sleep - have a great Friday, everyone! I have no idea how I'm going to get everything done that I need to :scared1: I have about 30 orders to deliver, gift items to get ready for a Saturday Bazaar, and then Saturday evening I'm heading 2 hrs away for another girls retreat - coming back Sunday - just going for a nice dinner and training, then spending the night with our Regional Vice President - too much snow on the mountain at night to come home. Tomorrow I need to go to the bank, get gas, get breakfast items for Sunday, AND we are having a scheduling challenge, so I need to try to get some more parties scheduled, too!

Okay, really. Goodnight.

Hiya all.....

getting over the hustle and bustle of London, followed by the excitement of your elections, followed by the puzzlement over our interest rate dropping 1.5% . Short term good , I know - bail out the borrowers at the expense of the savers - encourages folk to stop saving and spend it instead , encouraging economic growth, BUT what happens when everybody's money runs out!!
Gas at $2 ish a gallon - .... ha ha ha ha :rotfl2:...... ours has now just dropped below £6 around $10 !!!!! most of it (70%) is TAX!!!! (we want a pipeline from over there please...)

Sounds like families are the same the world over TinaLala - we've decided to go with the flow this Christmas - arrange everything here, and if the indecisive MIL decides she wants us there, we will go, if not we have our own holiday in reserve... Our problems are related to DH brother splitting with his family and moving back with his mum and dad....

I think we should hold thanksgiving here instead of Christmas (I know you all have it as well as...) - have been reading about it!! Lots (and LOTS!!) of food, to which all the family contributes, no presents, minimal decorations - sounds good to me!!!!

I need a recipe for pumpkin pie .... my hubby has said he hates pumpkin (as a vegetable!) so want to surprise him with a sweet and scrumptious pie.....

Cheers for now...

Tessa

TOMORROW, AT THIS TIME, WE WILL BE ON THE PLANE HEADING TO DISNEYWORLD!!!!

:cool1:  :cloud9: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

Of course, I still have alot to do. I want to try to get to the gym for a quick workout - so I can feel better about stuffing myself silly at WDW next week. I have one load of laundry left to do and then I'll officially put the clothes in the suitcase today. I've also just realized I still have my Halloween decorations up so I'm going to try to find time to put those away so I don't have to deal with it when I get back.

Haven't really been able to catch up and read what I've missed. Did notice talk of Thanksgiving and Christmas.........no, I haven't really started shopping yet; but I have told the girls that it will be a "leaner" holiday - now I just have to make sure I stick to that. Christmas Eve is actually a bigger deal for us here - we go to evening Mass then head over to friends' house for a party. Christmas Day - we spend the morning opening presents; my ex comes over and spends a few hours with the girls while I take my Mimosa and head in to the kitchen to get the meal ready for the day. It's weird having him here but it works out nicely for the girls. Sometimes we'll have family come up for a visit and then it's really hectic; if no family is coming, it's just a more casual day.

As for Thanksgiving, we typically stay home - regardless of whether family is coming or not. It's really a nightmare out here to be on the road travelling at this time so I try to avoid it. We've had a couple of Thanksgivings where it's just been me and the girls and I sometimes feel bad, but Lauren hates being anywhere else for this holiday. She has such fond memories of being in her own house - getting up in the morning and watching the Macy's parade and helping with dinner. I guess if they're content, that's all that matters!

I'll definitely be on again before the end of the day. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. I will try to send text messages or pix to those of you whose numbers I have. Have a great day!

I LOOOVE Christmas, we spend Christmas evening with my bf and her fam at my folks house and my mum gives everyone a little pres, then off home to track Santa ;) (yes i still have a believer) then to bed, up ridiculously early on Christmas morning, and rejoice in what Santa has delivered, then up and dressed and off to church then we go to my folks and have many many many more presents (did i mention my family looves Christmas) and a scrupmtious roast dinner, we stay at my folks house until i can physically walk again after eating so much which is normally the day after Boxing day hahaha we even take our cat with us to my mum's :lmao: can't leave Simba alone at Christmas :lmao:

I am very excited we are off to Disney on Ice tomorrow, it's Nemo this year  we have gone every year for the last 6 or7 i think and always looove it. I have booked tickets to see HSM on ice for January as a surprise Christmas pres  that will blow her mind.

Have a great weekend everyone .. I am sooo glad it's friday today, although another busy weekend is ahead!

Cammie have an AMAZING time at Disney .. Looking forward to many many pics ;)

Tessa - yea on the interest rate drop! I saw that on the news yesterday - so how much has the US economy affected you guys over there???

I'm still a little ticked at the way we handled the Wall Street bailout over here. Part of me says, tough, let them fail, they knew what they were doing, grow up and take your lumps. But then I know the whole country suffers if we do that. Same with bailing out the homeowners - part of me thinks that they knew what they were doing and they should have been smart enough to know what they were signing, but then again, I see the other side, too. It's a tough state we're in right now. Jeff is suffering big time in the auto industry.

As the GM of an auto auction, since nobody is buying cars, there are no trades to bring to the auction, and if they do get cars, there are no buyers. It's a vicious cycle.

Honestly, I wasn't excited about the way the election turned out, but part of me thinks that Obama will bring some excitement to the country, he's charismatic, young and hungry, and I think if he's smart and moves to a more moderate stance, he can really bring the country together. He's alredy surrounding himself with some good advisors. And I think that the US should be proud of how far we've come. Regardless of who's in office, I'll support them wholeheartedly, until they give me reason not to.

As for Thanksgiving in the US - it's my favorite holiday because it is the official beginning of the Christmas season, but without the commercialism that comes with Christmas. It's all about family, friends, and food! What can be better?

Tina - I can't imagin having a nasty SIL??? :rolleyes1 Just kidding, I have one of the worst!!!! But luckily we don't have to deal with her too much - she won't call Jeff and even though he tries to call her every month or so, he's finally just given up. She lives 4 hours from my in-laws and hasn't been to see them in over a year. And they've taken the stance that they will not go ANYWHERE on Christmas day. Period. It's sad because I'm sure Jeff's parents would like to have the whole family at their house for christmas. That's what the holidays are for. In fact, Jeff says that his best Christmases were spent at his grandparents, with all his aunts and uncles and cousins. And that's what his mom wants to do but his sister refuses. She's a spoiled B***H.

Before Jeff and I were married I went to one of his family's Christmas Eve parties at his grandparents house in WV. Can we say 80 people for a sit down dinner????? They came from a steel mill town in WV, and his gradmother was Italian, with about 7 brothers and sisters, and his grandfather was polish/slavic of some sort and also had a huge family. So Jeff would introduce me to a "cousin" that was actually not a cousin at all, but some other distant relative. it was a lot of fun to be a part of something that big.

In my family, we go to a nice dinner on Christmas Eve, then to a candlelight Christmas Eve service at church, then home to open one gift (Christmas jammies), and put out milk and cookies for Santa. Then Jeff and I get Ally's big Santa gift out under the tree for her. But I wrap presents and begin putting them under the tree as soon as the tree goes up. I love how it looks with all the packages under it. Jeff and I always fight about this, because in his family, none of the packages came out until the kids were in bed on Christmas Eve. I argue that doesn't make sense because Santa doesn't bring the gifts FROM us to Ally, or to each other. But I win since I do the decorating! :rotfl2: The only gifts that are new on Christmas morning are those from Santa, but I've started wrapping those just to kind of appease Jeff's tradition.

Cammie - hey, wanna meet for lunch at MK on Saturday???

I want to meet for lunch to on Saturday :( have a great time

Me too! Where are we eating? :rotfl2:

Everyone sounds like they have such fun Christmas traditions - makes me want to start decorating!

Cammie, it's great the way you and your ex can make Christmas special for the girls without making it a problem for the two of you.

Tessa, spend money you don't have - everyone spend! Borrow more than your house is worth and go on vacation to WDW!!!! Go ahead, it's good for the economy! :rotfl2: Oh yah, that's what we did a few years ago - doesn't work unless everyone keeps buying more and more houses and the gas supply is endless!

Like Kara, you all know who I favored in the election - because I believe in a strong military, or things like 911 will happen alot! I don't like the war we're in, but I don't want the boys who died to have died for nothing. I want us to stay there long enough to have stability for Iraq, which is almost there. Just because you are military doesn't mean you want to fight - you just want to be prepared. And past Democrats that I have seen since I was old enough to understand ( 1976? ) Have left us wide open for that attack. We will be tested again, but what's new.

But I am so excited for our first black President! I hope it puts an end to racial problems, and I don't think Obama will do sweeping changes immediately. The changes still have to go through congress. The biggest one for us is that he wants to take away half of Jim's retirement - not sure who he's giving it to :confused3 We have sacrificed alot for 28 years so his retirement would be the same as we are living on now - I guess I'm glad that we have Plan B with Arbonne!

Kara, I hope things turn around for Jeff, and this is just a short-lived thing.

WHOA TAMMIE, GET DOWN FROM THE SOAPBOX!!!

Sorry, I just feel like we know each other well enough to share our views and still love each other. :grouphug:

Okay, on with my day. I have alot to do.

Hey, where is Debbie?:confused3

/
.

Renee - Nice to see you here! Your kids are little cuties! Funny how they always want out of their costumes!:rotfl2: I see they got right to the candy!!
Tammie, oddly enough, that and opening about 5 suckers each and finishing none was about it. They only took a couple bites off the one you see. Not too big on candy in this house - guess that is good.

Thanks for all the compliments on the kids.

I also stayed up late and watched all the election coverage. Very good speaches by both men. Worth staying up for!

Stayed up til almost 1am last night! :scared1: ....
I'm glad that Jeff was okay. I bet you were so worried!

Cammie - YOU LEAVE IN HOURS GIRL! I'm so happy for you. Not so secretly jealous, but VERY HAPPY FOR YOU! You and those pretty girls of yours have a blast! :cool1:

I'm working on a Christmas planner to help me get the holiday thing down. It is called Cut the Crazy out of Christmas. :rotfl2: I'll let you all know how it goes! I have already bought for the kids and I think I'll be making everyone some cards or something as gifts this year. We're really trying to watch our money. The kids didn't get a 1/10 of what they ususally do, but they each got a big thing and several small things, so there will be lots to open. Back in the summer Target had lots of cute things for $1 that I stashed back. Yo-yos, paddle balls, etc. I got lots of good deals on the stuff too, so I'm glad it is done and we can sit back and just take it easy.

Not much going on here. Mia was up all night that translates into I got no sleep. I'm tired. Can't wait for bedtime tonight!

Hope that you all are having a great day, and have a great weekend!

Cammie, have a great flight - and... :worship: We'll miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cammie - I can't believe you'll be in Disney this time tomorrow! How awesome!!! I'l be bugging you I'm sure!!!!

And yes to the MVMCP pin! PLEASE!!!! I'll talk to you this week and firm up our meeting plans!!! Be safe!!!

okay I am so jonzing for disney fix. I'm actually thinking it might be a good idea to drive to WDW if gas prices stay low and with the 3 nights free promo it's a great deal. Now I have to convince Tim and find the cash..hmmm. how to do it

OK, funny story. The 4 night with 3 free night promo just came out a couple of days ago, right? Well, my BSIL booked a Disney trip for the first week in May about a week ago, BEFORE the promo came out. Should I tell her??? :rotfl2: Nah, I didn't think so either!!!!

Do I feel guilty about it? Nope! Oh, and should I tell her about the 180 days to book character meals? I'm sure that's the only thing they'll want to do is a couple of character meals. I don't think they're doing the dining plan. I guess I should tell her about that so the kids don't suffer. But man, I HATE helping her out with this stuff. I'll leave it up to Jeff.

CPAP work out? I think it would keep me up - I have a hard time falling asleep anyway.

My DH is Director of IT for a franchisee of restuarants. They own around 70 restaurnats in Western, Central and Upstate New York and he is in charge of the computer systems. Problem is he is the sole computer guy for 3000+ employees and 100s of computers, so if he takes a day off his next day is twice as busy. He also runs a side business doing in home computer repairs, set ups and classes--anything related to computers. He is a typical "computer geek!"

He has been using a CPAP for years, and while it took him a long time to get used to it, he is now. He hates taht he has to use it, but it does make him sleep a lot better. Still not great, but much better.

Well, I just got home from a day of chapperoning a field trip and voulunteering at the school, I came on quick but really need to runa nd get dinner ready. Have a good eveing...

Oh, and have a great time in Disney Camster0307... Safe travels...

Running around like a crazy person today. Sorry I don't have much time to read and respond.

Thanks for the well-wishes everyone! Be prepared for LOTS of pix upon my return.

Kara - Lunch sounds like a DEFINITE possibility - just need to figure the when and where! Call me when you arrive on Friday(or you can text or call before that if you'd like!)

Bye everyone!:wave2:

Hi girls,
Sorry I have been slightly MIA. Elizabeth is turning 6 so the birthday extravaganzas have begun. Yesterday we went to an indoor water park for the day with a handful of close friends. It was VERY fun.
I am freezing! The temps are currently in the 30's and it is shocking when the first half of the week was in the 70's!!!!
My nerves are cashed. I lost another couple pounds and my Mom said to me yesterday that I need to stop. I am not trying I swear! I just get all crazy and forget to eat until much later in the day. I know that sounds crazy and I was NEVER like this but now it happens every fall and so I am the thinnest I have ever been, well since high school. My Mom says my face is starting to look unhealthy and so now I am stressing over that!
I also feel super guilty because I just don't like my hubby right now. It's not even all his fault but he's irritating me. He has been working like crazy and he has been sick with a never ending cold so......he is like non existent here. I feel like I am doing EVERYTHING. He is snoring worse then ever, coughing and tossing and turning and I am NOT sleeping well. And of course my side has all the Thanksgiving plans laid out. He has said NOTHING to me about his side. No one said anything to me when we saw them last weekend either and if they said something to him he surely hasn't told me. I am so stubborn I haven't said anything. Now I am just waiting for him to spring something at me. I want to visit them earlier in the day and then leave for my Aunt around 3. I sure hope that's what will happen when I am informed of what his side is doing. I just freak out with it all per the usual! Oh well..I am sure this will all pass......
OK, funny story. The 4 night with 3 free night promo just came out a couple of days ago, right? Well, my BSIL booked a Disney trip for the first week in May about a week ago, BEFORE the promo came out. Should I tell her??? Nah, I didn't think so either!!!!

I am EXACTLY the same as you when it comes to this stuff. I wouldn't help her AT ALL. She probably wouldn't listen anyway!!!!! Maybe she will appreciate your planning more after she blows it!

I am always wishing I knew someone to ask all my computer questions. I am so jealous of people who can deal with this crazy thing! I am swearing at my computer everyday!!!!!!!!!
I am afraid I missed what he needs the CPAP for. I apologize. I will go back and read more.

I feel bad I couldn't wish Cammie a great trip. I will text her today! I am VERY jealous!!!!!!!!! Kara...you too. I keep forgetting you are going! Have an awesome time and take your pic with Cammie so you can add it to your collection of us!

I will defintely go back and catch up. I only read the last couple posts. I love you guys!!!!!

Good Morning everyone,
Yesterday was a really crazy day, an the next couple look as busy. I am living for the weekend (but then again who isn't?)
The day started getting crazy when DD9 was getting dressed. She was going to the orthodontist who gives points to the kids (they redeem them for prizes) for various things. Good brushing and flossing, being on time, no breaks and for wearing his t-shirt. (He has t-shirts made with his name on it, free advertising, I don't mind, he's a great orthodontist and I recommend him all the time anyway.) We could not find the shirt anywhere. I was going through dirty clothes, pajama drawer, finally we found it in her sister's closet. So, they were set but I had 1/2 hour to get showered and ready. I made it, then dropped my DD6 off with my friend to get her on the bus so we could get there on time.
She came out early from getting her braces off and turned in some of her points for a $20 gift card for Disney while I talked with the doctor. We quickly made her next appointment and headed out calling DH, hoping I had caught him so I could take him to his surgery. They had already left and were about 5 minutes ahead of me. I told him to have his friend drop him off and I would be there shortly. I was so happy not to have to miss being there. My DH goes to so many things with me (dentist because I am scared of it, many appointments and treatments for endometriosis, again, scared) and I didn't want to not be with him. So, I am almost there adn i get a call, his friend has a flat tire, go help her first. OK, then another call, no come here, they need you to sign that yo will drive me home before they can start. So I go and sign and leave DD9 to read Highlights while I run and give her my phone to make a call. We call her boss (DH's old boss), a really nice guy who says he's on his way. So, we are chatting for a minute about how my DH is so stubborn that he probably won't take the afternoon off. (He was determined to have the surgery as his lunch hour and not take any vacation time off.) We hear screaming, "Please help me!" So we turn and see an older lady falling. We run and help her down to the ground, just then a car starts backing up and is like 3 feet from hitting all of us, so we are yelling, banging on the window and thankfully she stopped. It wasn't her fault, the lady was down on the ground and we were leaning over to help her, it would have just been a horrible accident is all. We tried a couple times to help her up, to get her out of the road, but she was in too much pain. She said she just wanted to get to her car and drive home, but I said no way, if you can't feel your legs you sure can't drive. I took her keys and DH's friend took her purse. We had more helpers by this time and one went to get a doctor and a wheelchair. Meantime the guy from work came (he was also helping) so he changed her tire while they waited for an ambulance for the lady. We gave her back her things knowing she was getting help and not planning to drive. I finally made it back with my DD9 (who I had been running in and checking on) about 5 minutes before my DH came out. He was fine, joking as always, and ready to go back to work! He makes me crazy sometimes. We took DD9 out for a quick lunch (she wanted Taco Bell to eat nachos, she's missed them over the last 10 months. So, we ate, got gas (BTW, $2.44 a gallon!!!, yeah!!!!), and took Dh to work and dd9 to school. I decided rather than running back and forth I'd stay and catch up on some volunteering I have been getting behind on. I worked from noon to 3:30, picked up the kids and headed to dance. This was parent observation day so we stayed and watched. Then we went to the place we always go for dinner on Wednesday, and met DH there. (On Wednesdays my kids dance from 4-5 for one then 6 for the other, there is a restaurant in the same plaza that has family night on Wednesday. It's just a burger place, but good, and they have games, prizes, face painting, balloon animals, that sort of thing on Wednesdays so we have made that our tradition.) We ate and the kids played then DH took DD9 to her class (we weren't watching hers till her teacher comes back from having a baby) and he headed home. I stayed with DD6 to play some more as I always do. I ran and got DD9 and we went back to play a bit more. We got home at 8pm. I had left at that morning at 8:10. It was a long day. DH took 2 Advil, not any of the Codeine they had given him, and went to bed early. He says he feels fine. I hope he doesn't overdo it, I worry about him, but he is the only person at work that does his job so if he takes time off there will be twice as much tomorrow. I understand that, but still worry. Plus, they don't get sick days, Just a set number of days off. So, if you are sick, need a personal day or are on vacation they all count the same. I hate that policy, everyone goes to work sick all the time because they don't want to waste a day on being sick. I am not surprised that he went back to work, when he had his vasectomy 7 years ago he came home for about an our before he asked me to drive him to work. He sat with ice on his "ahhh-ehhm" while working just an hour after it. We all thought he was crazy then, now I was expecting it. But he was at a different company then so his co-workers here didn't believe he'd be back. But I knew better.

So today I have "loads" of laundry, a messy house to clean, a Brownie meeting tonight to get ready for and 2 parent-teacher conferences. I have been going since 5:30 so I needed a break. Tomorrow I am going on a field trip with DD9's class.
We leave 2 weeks from today so this weekend is all about packing!!! I have no real plans so I can get this all done. I do have to pick up my GS troops' cookies on Saturday and will have to sort the girls cookies out, but that won't take too long. My girls will help me.
Camster0307, how long are you going to Disney for? I hope you have a great trip, I am sure yo will--- it's Disney!! have a safe and wonderful trip!
Karajeboo, Glad your DH is ok. I hate when I can't reach mine, I always worry. It's always bad service or a dead battery but I always worry anyway!
What kind of work from home do you guys do? Is it a local thing or a national ting. I'd love to make some income, but am having trouble thinking about committing to anything because I don't want to miss anything at school, you know, the field trips, the parties, the days off. I have been at home so long I get so nervous thinking about it. My kids expect me to be at every ting at school, I love that they like me there and actually want me there and I love being there. I'd love to find something I could do at home.
Hope everyone has a great day. It's a beautiful fall day here. Hope it is where you are as well....
All I can say is WOW! What a day!!!!!!!!!! I am glad all is well at this point! I am tired and stressed just from reading it! BTW I also had endometriosis before I had kids.

Speaking again of stress....I just went back and read all your posts regarding the holidays and got a stomach ache. I recognize my problem as this....We have done the same thing for each of those holidays the exact same way my WHOLE LIFE!!!!! It has been out of a storybook how wonderful it has always been. My holidays were always very magical to caught Disney. That's why I can't deal with the thought of changing the traditions or missing them completely. The anxiety really just comes down to I can NOT handle change and I don't want to! The control freak in me just can not get past the fact I can't fix it all to work out where everyone is happy.

Thanks for putting up with me through my light hearted days and my "I am crazy" days!

Hello everyone! After a slight vacation I'm back with a lot of stuff to talk about, so let me get my composition thoughts together..................

So glad you're back buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi debbie!!!! Missed you..don't worry about the weight. I found those pounds you lost and put them on my hips for safe keeping.:rotfl2:

Keep your chin up:flower3:

hi sewer!! I'd stay and chat tonight but I need some sleep we had our first daisy outing to the MN Zoo today. Ugh! Lots of work with 6 first graders. Nighty-night
