Didn't see the shuttle today. Our backyard is so heavily wooded, and I think the shuttle may have lifted off over the ocean. We're probably about 100-150 miles NNE from Port Canaveral. And even though it's pretty clear today, the only clouds are right in my line between here and there. Oh, well.......

Also, Ally is grounded this week. I went up to her room and bathroom last night after she was asleep. OMG! She is a PIG! I just don't get it! I mean, her tissue box was on the floor in the bathroom. Seriously, what is up with that? She has shampoo bottles on the bathroom floor, not to mention a week's worth of clothes!!!! I was furious and almost woke her up to clean at midnight!

Still sore. I asked him to help me build strength for golf. So we worked on my lower back and abs, plus about a bazillion lunges. He's good though - really explained to me why we were doing what. Explained that all the machines only target one large muscle, so we used free weights, and basic lunges, medicine ball, etc. Oy vey!!! And he "took it easy" on me today! :scared1:

Ally sounds like me. My parents are super clean freaks and I was a slob! Still am I am embarassed to say! Itry...I do try!

remember debbie--we live in the same universe just different channels. I'm right there with you on the crazy 6/7 yr old. what if we found an island for them to live on???

AHHHH the school district just came down with this gem. If your child has a fever above 99 and any aches, sniffles, or cold symptoms you are to keep them home for 7 days unless a doctor has okayed them to go back to school. Talk about being on the cutting edge of this....my favorite part is that the public school kids are only allowed som many days per semster to be gone with out a penality ie failing that class. this should be an interesting thing to watch.

7 DAYS???? That is insane!!!! Schools are seriously going too far. Maybe if they didn't spend about 15 days each year on stupid standardized testing it wouldn't be so bad!!! That is just nuts!!! So as a parent you are to take off work for an entire week because your child has the sniffles??? Yeah, good plan. :sad2:

You know, the crazy thing here is that our ped - whom teaches at the children's hospital, so he knows his stuff - said that the few cases in our state were honestly milder than flu cases this past winter. Our schools have closed for a week IF a child attending is confirmed. I guess I get that.

I know my kids can't walk by a wall without licking it. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

With swine flu here they were only shut down 2 days for cleaning. That's the thing - the germs don't even live that long!!! I heard about 2 hrs. So literally by the time the kids come back the next day, it should be clear!

I guess they don't want the kids who have been exposed but aren't symptomatic yet, to come back to school.....

Well Amanda just got home with a letter from the director of her school. One of the students has been diagnosed with the swine flu. There's only 40 kids in the whole school.

Freaking lovely.

My dr told me seriously to stay out of the path of anyone sneezing - that being directly exposed was how you'd get it - not recirculated air, not touching surfaces, etc. :confused3 I dunno.

Just looked at my photopass 106 pics! I'll edit it soon, but not today. Just wanted to see what it looked like.

My BF is trying to talk me into going away this weekend or at least dinner tomorrow - our 9th. I hadn't thought about that. hummmm..... The condo we generally get is available at the beach. Carlos will blow a gasket if I ask. :rotfl2: Dinner would be nice though. :cloud9: A dinner without an hour time limit would be heavenly.

:headache:

Was it a child in her class or just someone in the school?

Sorry cammie. I know that any time kids with medical concerns are exposed to crap like this it gets scary. Hoping all the best.

Lorrie I have an image of katie, beth, nicolas and MIA walking along and licking the wall every 5 feet. Kind of like when the milk goes bad and you have someone else smell it. Priceless !

Lydia - I flew JetBlue for the first time this past February. They were wonderful! What airport are you flying out of? I'm flying down to Orlando on Sat. myself - out of Logan; due to arrive in Orlando around 2:30. Where are you staying?

And yeah - your packing dilemna sounds alot like me. I spend a week in advance putting the girls stuff together; then my suitcase usually gets packed the night before!:headache: That's why my kids always look better than I do!

Cammie, I am taking Jet Blue on Saturday morning from Boston at 9:20!

Cammie - you are totally NOT ALLOWED to flip over this. Not before your trip. Seriously. You can have 5 minutes of flipping out and you are done with the flipping missy!

I know it is scary, I know you worry, but that kiddo is going to be fine. Did they give you details?

Was it a child in her class or just someone in the school?

They NEVER identify who the kid is - just that it's someone in the school. I understand privacy issues but do think they should let fellow students know if it was someone in their class.

So according to the letter: the school is NOT being closed; closure guidelines are the same for this flu as it would be for seasonal flu. They'll remain open unless a large number of people come down with it. And Laura - our PH dept. has issued the same guidelines as yours for keeping kids home: "all sick students and staff with flu-like symptoms should stay out of school for 7 days EVEN if their symptoms resolves sooner." (yeah right!) Here's the insane part though: "Those who are still sick at 7 days should continue to stay home from school until at least 24 hrs. after they have completely recovered." So if Amanda is sick for 8 days she has to stay home; but if she's healthy on day 9, she can go back to school on day 10; BUT if she's sick for 2 days; healthy on day 3, she still can't go back to school until day 7? WTH?

I can't say I'm super-concerned. One thing I have working in my favor is all of the medical equipment in my house. At the first signs of cold symptons, she's on the vent, letting the machine give her lungs a break. I have oxygen and monitors to keep an eye on oxygen levels and heartrate, so I'm thinking I could get a head start if something develops. Right now, we're all good though.

Cammie, I am taking Jet Blue on Saturday morning from Boston at 9:20!

My flight isn't until 11:35; probably won't get to Logan until 9-9:30. HOpe you enjoy JetBlue. And I don't know what your plans are BUT - there is a big DISBOARDS meet on Sunday at Epcot. 3pm in France. Kara and I will be there along with lord knows how many other DISers. We'll all be in ugly green shirts; if you're in the area, stop by and introduce yourself!

I'll be thinking of you and what they all said!

Oh, forgot to mention (and this could change anytime again!) but it looks like we're staying in FL!!!! Jeff thinks his boss reported back to the prez just how much of a hit they would have to take on our house and they chickened out - can't say as I blame them..... So I'm happy. I guess. Really, I think I would have been okay either way.

But get this. Jeff wants to go on a DCL cruise!!! Just the 3 or 4 day - and he said "he" would pay for the same price as Carnival if "I" would pay the difference by selling stuff on craigslist. AND I have to come up with the onboard money. Again, craigslist. I told him he'd better guard anything that is near and dear to him, so he put his golf clubs in the trunk of his car!!! :rotfl2:

I'll believe this when I see it. But he's seriously talking about 4 days on DCL and 3 days in WDW in the fall. I told him I need to book it now before he changes his mind. With WDW he's kinda like "outta sight outta mind" so while it's still fresh in his mind, he's getting antsy to go back. Plus, I think the thought of moving away from WDW really got to him more than he's willing to admit.....

Shuttle lift off in about 10 minutes. gotta go check my view!

Yeah! I'm glad you don't have to move! That means more Disney!:woohoo:

Tell Jeff they are offering free cruises for up to 4 people with a DVC purchase - I don't think it's just for add ons.:rolleyes1 Let me know if you want a referral to our guide - I get a free hat! :rotfl2:

Oh - watch your girl! It wouldn't be good for her to get sick. Sounds like a short lived virus, so she'll be okay, I'm sure. I'm going to believe everything will be fine.

I can't believe how soon you are leaving - and Lydia too!

Hi everyone else! My leg has been hurting me so bad I can't sleep - don't know why - I can't even type right now - have t0 get up - I'llo check i9n tomorrow!

Good morning ladies!!!!

Still hurting from yesterday, but it's a good pain, right? :confused3

Gonna run some laundry today so I can get packed. Ally has swim team practice Saturday morning and I want to stay since it's her first practice, then I'll be leaving right afterwards!!! Cammie, I'll get us checked into Poly (ya know, with my upgrade!!!) and call or text you to let you know where to have ME drop you off! :lmao: Wishful thinking never hurt......

Guess what? Jeff thinks he has an "interview" for the SC job today! So who knows where I'll be this time next year. I just told Jeff to let me know where I need to decorate for Christmas.

So funny.... Bucky is laying here in my office with me. He has a twitch in his leg and he's really studying it. Then attacking his own leg!!! I'm cracking up!
