Hi Guys...
Short and sweet...
Just wanted to say HI!
DSs 2nd birthday today so crazy days...Next week should settle down a bit!
I'll be back with a longer post!
Glad to see you Sewer (and the rest of you too of course)!
We have a lot in common......
Welcome.....Kid in Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay awhile and join our fun little thread!
Gymboree (thanks Maureen) and Playhouse Disney Live tomorrow...Sunday Bears Birthday party for DS!

:cool1: Happy Birthday to the little guy!! :cool1:

Happy Weekend everyone. Wish we had mandatory 4 day weekends! Whoever made up the 2 day weekend obviously didn't have kids!

Hey everyone! Just stopping in for a quick hello. This time next week, we will be in WDW:cool1:

Happy Birthday to your DS, Debbie. Time goes by so quickly, doesn't it? I can't believe my baby is almost 17 months.

Pam, I hope you can use the Gymbucks. I had every intention of sending them to you sooner, but DH worked until 10 pm on Wednesday and I had a horrible migraine last night. I finally got around to shopping online tonight, but I really wanted to go to the store.

Hope all is well with everyone and welcome to the new members. I am starting to get stressed about packing for the trip. I may need to pop in for some encouragement over the next week.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

It was hard to jump back in, but now I'm back in and can't keep away...

I'm the only one up. DD9 spent the night at a friend's, and DD14 and DH are still asleep. I love this time of day...:surfweb:

Maureen - have fun in WDW!! I wish we were going in Oct, but I can't take the kids out of school that long. I just sent the dreaded emails to the girls' principals yesterday about taking them out of school on Nov 16. It is so less crowded than Thanksgiving week. Have a blast, and try not to let the packing ruin the last week excitement! I wish that we could bottle that excitement. We're already feeling it 34 days away. I just printed my packing list yesterday, to make changes/updates. I even have socks and underwear on my list. I have to.

Debbie - enjoy the birthday weekend!! Sounds like fun! I miss my kids being little. My neice is due at the end of January, and I can't wait to experience that stuff again thru her.

Tessa - It sounds like your girls are thriving in school. Doesn't that make you proud? My girls didn't have male teachers until 5th grade, and Megan loved him. He was older, so she didn't have the crush thing going on, thank goodness. So far, Taylor hasn't had one. Did you get your ADRs? Please tell!:confused3

It's errand and chore day for us today. My Halloween decorations need to go up. I cannot believe that it is almost Halloween, DD9's, DH's and 3 other family members' birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, then NEW YEAR's.

Have a great day, everyone!:grouphug:

I, too, am enjoying the peace & quiet this am - girls are with their dad; it's 40degrees out and I'm trying to convince myself that I should go to the gym -- or maybe I should just pour another cup of coffee and catch up the shows I Tivoed all week and haven't watched yet!

My 6th grader leaves Monday morning for a class trip - she'll be gone until Friday. Going to a "nature's classroom" type thing -- at a campsite site; doing nature and experiments outside. She's not too crazy about it; my daughter's are not really "outdoorsy" types - they're girlie-girls! I'm not crazy about this either. I'm ok with her being gone for four nights; but they're not even allowed to call home to check in! Her teacher said if she's really homesick, they'll let her call. I felt like asking - "But what about if I want to talk to her?"! The idea of being out of touch with my child from 8am Monday until 3pm on Friday is freaking me out a little!:scared1: I don't know - maybe this will be good for us (me?) Is this the start of cutting the apron strings? Not ready for THAT yet!:scared:

Enjoy your day everyone!:flower3:

Hey everyone! I'm just dropping by for a quick :wave2: I'm back! Had a great time! I'll post a little TR and some pics here soon. I am exhausted, but having trouble sleeping - its the jet lag thing.

Welcome Back, Pam2! Glad you're okay! Nice to hear from Sewer, Kristin, Maureen, Pam also!

Welcome to our insanity, KidInMe! You gals who are heading to WDW - :woohoo: Hi Becky, Camster - Well, I am falling asleep again - it's 6am or something like that - so I think I'll try to sleep for a few more and try to get up again. :hippie:

Hi Everyone!
Glad to see the whole gang (almost) checking in! I love having you guys all here! Have a great weekend and I will post more after my crazy weekend!

Tammie...Welcome back! Can't believe you are already back. Glad it was fun. Good luck with the sleep.
Maureen!!!!! How exciting!!!!!! I might actually start packing for our trip VERY early this time.
Pam...off to Gymboree I go....
Campster....I would be freaking out! I would not like the whole no talking thing! BTW I vote TIVO'd shows!
Pam2....Happy errand running! Hope you get a lot done.

Thanks everyone for DSs birthday wishes!
Off to bake and create my Mickey cake......

Well everyone wrestling season kicks off tomorrow! I get to wake at 5:00 A.M., drive 70 miles (one way) to a tournament so my son can weigh in before 9:00 A.M.! I was able to do my banking, grocery shop, and cut the grass today..... gad's the weekends go by sooooo quickly!:confused3

Camster.....I'd be freaking out if I couldn't keep in touch with my DD for 5 days too! I'd have to talk every night. My oldest DD is almost 12 so we'll have to trade adolescent tips. And Tivo...I tape too many shows that I have to watch them on weekends as well. I'll be adding a 3rd Tivo this week. I bought a LCD Flat Panel TV for my bedroom and need to upgrade to a HD Recorder. So now DH gets one, I get one, and the girls get one. :cool1: My 4 yo likes to watch things over and over and over...so it'll come in handy for her.

Tammie...glad your back! I can't wait to hear about your trip!

Pam2: I don't know how you do it! I am already wondering how I am going to juggle the 2 girls in school (one will be in middle and the other in Kindergarten) and both of their activities, sports etc. and I'll be going back to work after being off for 5 years. DH works 70 miles away and it takes 1.5 to 2 hrs to get home from the D.C. area. Sometimes longer depending on traffic. It would be so nice if we had family around to help out.

Sewer: Make sure to hit Starbucks on your way tomorrow!

Debbie: I ordered Gymboree online. My DD is set for this fall and for next year too! :rotfl: I made a small order at Crazy 8 to check it out. It was free shipping so what the heck? What are you planning to buy your DD for Xmas? I am at a loss of what to get my DD with toy recalls and she has alot already. I did see romper stompers (remember them?) and inchworm are back. There's nothing really jumping out this year or am I missing it?

Tessa, Tinklvr..and everyone else...a big hello!!!

Pam

Still enjoying my quiet morning with everyone else asleep. :surfweb: I just can't sleep late anymore. I should be productive, but I always feel that if DH is sleeping, I am not going to work my butt off! So, I enjoy my fun stuff, like reading the paper and catching up on magazines and now enjoying disBoards again, while they all snooze. I'm watching WDW shows that I taped back in APRIL, and have kept on the DVR and watched over and over again. Aren't there any new ones? I think these are from 2004! They just keep up the excitement anyway...Eating my oatmeal, made w/milk, not water, as I was told at a health screening at work Friday that I have a low bone density, and am at high risk for osteoporosis. Both my mom and grandma are too, so I guess it's in my blood (or bones). I bought a calcium supplement yesterday and need to get in a routine of taking them along with a multi-vitamin. I am the most un-consistent person in the world, so this will be a big challenge for me. I am good about having the girls take their vitamins on the weekdays, but we aren't so good on the weekends, or even during the summer.

Tammie - we want to hear all about your trip! You are such a traveler! Good for you! That is awesome, and something I hope to be able to do once the kids are grown. I am not in a hurry. I've enjoyed reading about your interactions with your grandkids. That is super. Grandparents are the best.:flower3:

Camster - I got to go to 5th grade camp w/my DH14, so we didn't experience her being away for a week (except to Grandma's, where I talk to them every day - several times) until this past summer, between 7th & 8th grade. It was hard. She loved it, and the non-communication didn't phase her, but it bothered me. We made it though, and you will. Hang in there, and try not to worry too much. It's amazing how independent they can be. I'll bet she'll surprise you and will do very well. 40 DEGREES!? I'm jealous! Yesterday, we were in the high 80's. It's finally cooling off in the evenings and mornings, but it's too hot for mid-Oct. In Texas it just isn't consistent. We have years that Halloween is extremely warm, and years that the kids are resisting wearing jackets over their costumes, but it's cold. I am ready for fall weather!! Send some our way!:)

DVR shows - I've caught up on Grey's and Private Practice for the week. I've decided that those are the only 2 shows I am going to try to keep up with this season. We also tape LA Ink (embarassingly enough, I've taken a liking to tattoos for my old age, trying to hang on to my youth, I guess) and watch Californication on Showtime VOD.

Pam - Your hubby has a long commute! Poor guy! I have to work to pay the bills and everything else we like to do, college, retirement, etc....but I struggle with it all of the time. I want to do everything with my kids, Girl Scouts, PTA, volunteer at school, Band Boosters, church...but sometimes it just aboout kills me, and my house and life are very unorganized. Right now, the house is a disaster, but yesterday we decided to go shopping and out to eat instead of doing some chores at home. I did grocery shop, but the canned goods are still on the counter. We will be scrambling to pick up before the cleaning lady comes Tues. DH laughs that I clean before she comes, but I have to pick up so she can clean. We have a lot of fun, though. I keep reminding myself that my kids will not remember that the house wasn't picked up, but they will remember that I went GS camping with them, went to watch them cheer at the football game, watch their band performance, to the movies...I guess I'm also selfish because I also want to do the things that I want to do, like THIS, my pictures, crocheting, occasional dinners/coffees with friends. There just arent' enough hours in the day, days in the week! If only I were independently wealthy! That would be cool! My drive to/from work is 15 miles one way, but it's a trafficy commute. We leave the house at 7:30am, I drop both girls at different schools, and get to work at 8:30am. DH picks DD9 up and DD14 walks w/friends or gets a ride home. I get home about 6:15pm, earlier if I am lucky enough to leave work earlier. Needless to say, dinners are usually simple because I do not want to be cleaning up at 9pm! We eat way too much fast food.

Sewer - You are a dedicated wrestling mom! Have fun! At least you got a lot accomplished yesterday. We need 3-day weekends and 4-day workweeks!

I have rattled, and told you all way more than you want to know, but if you've read this far, have a wonderful Sunday!! We're skipping service this AM, going to Sunday School, a Youth Auction meeting, then our Sunday School class is hosting the Youth Snack Supper tonight, and DH and I are running it.

Hi Everyone!
Pam2 - you are a busy, busy mom! Don't forget to take care of yourself, too! As for bone density, check out www.johnleemd.com and his books - he gives an explanation for how to prevent bone loss with natural hormone balance.

Sewer - you are a crazed sports mom, too! We did that with baseball and basketball for years - have fun- it goes by too fast! I miss those days! :sad1:

Happy Monday - Debbie, Tessa, Maureen, Pam, Kristin, Camster, Lisa, Keahi, Becky, KidInMe - anyone else I missed! mini trippie to follow:

Hi Everyone! quick TR about my trip last week - Oct 6-11. I had always wanted to visit Atlantis - seemed so exotic - so I was thrilled to earn it as an incentive trip with my company!

I left here at 4pm on Saturday pm. This is a small town, so it turned out that I traveled with a friend of my DILs mom - she was alot of fun, and we flew to Portland, had a drink, flew to Seattle, had some fish, and then I said good-bye to her - she went on the Western Wa, and I went to Miami!

This overnight flight seemed so long - I only slept 3 hrs broken up. I rented a DVD player on the flight and used my headphones so I could sleep to the noise. But, the man across the isle from me had alot to drink, and he felt compelled to have a conversation with me in broken English everytime I moved :headache: I had a 3 hr layover in the morning at Miami, then on the the Bahamas! We had a tiny little plane with one seat down each side - probably held only 20 people - it reminded me of some Robin Williams movie or something! :goodvibes We landed at 11:30 ET. Everything was fine, my luggage got there - they don't let you share a van taxi - they whisk them away before you have the chance to have a conversation - more $$ for them. I rode with a husband-wife team - she drove and he gave a really good island tour on the way - fun!

My room was beautiful! I was in the Royal Towers - I had beautiful views of the ocean and the pools outside my balcony, and I could watch the cruise ships come and go!

I met up with my friend Jenny and her DH and got checked in with our company - they gave us a beach bag, 2 beach towels, sunscreen and lip balm and vouchers for virtually all the food and drinks we needed!
I ran to my room to shower and met them back at the pool for a Jonkaroo Rush! This was half pina colada, half strawberry daquiri with coconut rum poured over it - YUM! I was in Paradise! Everywhere we went, the staff would ask, "how are you enjoying paradise?" I was! :dance3: After a ride on the rapid river around the resort, and a small body slide, we got cleaned up and went out to dinner at Bimini's! This was a fun caribbean style place at the Marina, which reminded me alot of Downtown Disney, except there were honest-to-goodness yachts parked right up the the sidewalk where we were walking tot he shops and restaurants! I wish I would have taken pics of those!

We went out and enjoyed the live music and stilt dancers, I shopped at a kiosk for shell bracelets for my team, while Jenny her DH Jack danced! The air was so warm and sweet! By this time I was exhausted, and I went up to my room to bed! I had been up for most of 48 hours!

Mon morning: I slept in until 10am! 12 hours! It felt really good! We met up with our group for Breakfast at 11am and had a delicious buffet! My fav - a banana/cream cheese mixture wrapped in phyllo dough. I have got to figure out how to make that! :cloud9: We changed and headed out to the pool
area! We rode around and around on the rapid river. There is a wave pool type action that goes on, as well as rapids! We got out and rode a tube slide through a crazy rapids! The attendant told us to keep our butts up - we didn't think she meant the whole ride, I thought she meant just to get up the conveyor belt - OUCH!!!! I had a mai tai, and rested in the sun for a little while, then it was time to head in and get ready for dinner.

We went to a great reception with lots of yummy food and desserts! We had a great time and got to meet the CEO, Marketing and Product VPS! Exciting, considerinig there are over a million of us in the company, and they took the time to pose for pics and speak to each of us - there were about 200 people at this party. We sat out on the comfy couches in the lobby for awhile and had a nice glass of wine- by that time it was 11pm and time for bed. I'll finish next post!

Hiya all -

WOW what a beautiful set of photos - I would love to be there - I am green with envy!!!! I want to swim in pools that look that good, and just be on holiday really!!!

Well, our ADRs - we got our first one :cool1:- princess storybook breakfast at Epcot Norway, but cos we are staying offsite, we can't book all up at once, we have to book each one seperately, but as we are in a villa and mainly self catering (more fruit and veg that way!!) we only have to ring up a couple more times...
Only going for a Lilo and Stitch breakfast - the kids will not forgive me if we don't get that!!! And a dinner with priority seating for Fantasmic at Mama Melrose (love Italian food and don't want to queue for Fantasmic).

The lady on the booking line was sooooo nice when I said these were our first ever ADRs for Florida, she made me feel very special and explained loads about taking extra time to get to Epcot, and from the gate to the restaurant, go to the gate marked for early entry etc.. She was really lovely - so WE HAVE TICKED OUR FIRST BOX on our trip checklist (after the book the holiday one....):woohoo:

I don't know if we in the UK get a separate ADR line or something, but I didn't have to wait even one minute for them to pick up, after reading on here that folks sometimes spend ages I was a bit worried... I rang about 8am Eastern US time.

Anyhow, got to go off and do the chores, get some groceries etc.... mundane normal stuff - but in less than 180 days we will be breakfasting with PRINCESSES-- WOOOHOOOO:cool1:

Cheers
Tessa

We had horrible storms this AM, and the ride to work was horrible! Almost 2 hours in the car, and I only dropped off one child this AM! Water was deep, roads closed...luckily we made it to work safe and sound. A school bus in a neighboring town turned upside down. That's awful. Luckily, no serious injuries to the children or driver. It just came down so fast and furious!

There was an article in our paper that we are going to have a warm winter. Yuck. Right now, the crickets are out in full force. It's gross. We were invaded at the football game last week. I hope this rain doesn't draw out more of them. I won't be able to sit thru the game tomorrow night.

Tammie - Atlantis looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing your pictures. I can't wait to read more. How lucky you are!! Could you imagine living there?? We need to win the lottery!

Tessa - Yeah!! Congrats on your ADRs! I hope the rest of them go that smoothly. I always get a nice, helpful cast member when I call in. I love that. We do the Fantasmic Package also, Hollywood and Vine, but haven't tried the italian restaurant. I'd like to hear how you like it. ADRs are a major accomplishment on your checklist!

Debbie - I hope the big birthday weekend went well!

Hi everyone else! I hope the drive home is better than the drive in. DD9 has a PERM! appt. tonight at 6. I am meeting she and DH there, then will stay w/her. She's nervous about it, but excited.

Have a great Monday!:grouphug:
Pam

Tessa, congrats on your ADRs :cheer2:

Pam2, those crickets! Yuk! Hope they are better this week. I'm glad you did all right in the storms.

Debbie, belated Happy Birthday to your DD! :cutie:

I'll write more later - have to start dinner!

Wellllll, we spent 12 hours at the tournament (oh what fun) my son won, but the drive home after was a killer! :sad2:
