Hi all!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's a 3-day one for us here in Mass. - love those! Girls are with their dad, so how do I spend my free time? Catching up on the housework I don't get to when the girls are around! My spare room is a sea of clothes - still working on switching the fall clothes in for the summer clothes. One daughter's wardrobe is done; one more to do! Hoping I'll be able to do mine before Thanksgiving!:lmao:

Debbie - So sorry to hear about your DH. Hope he's feeling better. Hang in there!

Hi Ladies......
How is everyone doing? I am tired! Just trying to get caught up with things. DD was off today but it was still a busy day. I got paid $150.00 to do a 1.5 survey/interview about my cooking and what would make life easier.... That was easy money!

DH was back in the hospital with his Afib! It was a bad episode this time and he was all alone! We went to Wisconsin so he had to go to the hospital by himself. I felt so bad!! We left apple/pumpkin picking and I went right over to be with him. Traffic was TERRIBLE so it took us over two hours to get home. They released him after monitoring him and getting everything under control. They added another drug to his daily dosage. Such a pain! I hope this does the trick.

I am loving our weather!!! Too bad it won't last! It really helps my anxiety and mood. The sunshine ALWAYS makes me happy!!! This weather reminds me of WDW in October so how can I not be happy!!!!

Sewer Come on! Where are you buddy????

HI to anyone else lurking out there!!!!!!! Hope I didn't miss anyone. I am trying to keep our thread alive!!!

Put the note in the mail for Pam2.......
If anyone else wants to email or PM me their contact info feel free. I would love to have it. Plus, let me know when your birthdays are!

I officially turned 36 on October 4th. :cheer2: What did I do for my birthday? Had my first mammogram...now that was fun.:rotfl: Kidding of course.

Tammie.....Atlantis! I wanted to go there when the DCL stopped in the Bahamas, but we arrived a few hours later than expected due to a hurricane and just walked around. I wish we would have gone there instead! I hope you have a wonderful time!

Lisa....Hi! Hope you are doing well!

keahi.....They are putting a DVC in Ko Olina!!! Maybe we'll get to meet someday!!

Tidoublegrrr.....hope everything goes well. Endometriosis sucks. My neighbor and all the women in her family had it (and hysterectomies). She was able to have one child though (DD's BFF). Sorry you have to go through it.

Camster and Becky: Hi! I'm kind of a oldie newbie.

I've missed everyone!

Pam

Hiya all,

Camster - love the idea of
switching the fall clothes in for the summer clothes
- however, this side of the ocean seems to only have one season this year - cold and wet!!!! We never got out of the WINTER clothes!! and now "summer" is over it is still cold and wet - today looks dismal and depressing grey skies a bit of rain , dull dull, dull.....

Sitting here typing when I should be at work cos my eldest DD is off school with a chest infection - another one with antibiotics!! The youngest is back to school now her ear has recovered - school is OK with me staying off work though, so that's nice - one less thing to worry about - especially as I have a hair appointment next week (booked before I started work so they agreed my time off) I do NOT want to go back to my natural mousey brown with loads of grey - that would scare the kids!!!

Speaking of which - Halloween - I hear you guys in the states do all sorts of stuff for halloween, anyone up to anything this year?? - here we just tend to dress the kids up, do apple bobbing in a bowl of water - well now the health and safety lot are involved it is more like standing over a bowl with a fork in your mouth which you drop and try to spear an apple....too many germs if you bob using teeth.... But we have Guy Fawkes' night on the 5th Nov where we do fireworks and bonfires -and generally get cold and wet.

Anyhow - got to go get lunch for one complaining child as "I'm bored" - has now changed to "I'm hungry" - I am cruel and make days off school for illness as tedious and boring as possible so they don't start "pretending" to be ill!!;)
Cheers,
Tessa

Glad you posted Pam! Happy belated birthday! I am so sorry I missed it!!!!!!
Hope it was more fun than the mamogram!

Tessa, sorry DD is sick! That stinks. Sorry about your weather. I would never survive there! Not for a minute! We are loving our summer like Fall, well at least I am. It REALLY helps my spirits since I get very anxious and coo coo when it is cold and rainy.

Halloween here in the good old USA is getting as crazy as Christmas! Lots of fuss and decorations. I love it! That MNSSHP is the best in WDW! I will miss it this year!
Thanks for stopping by!
Debbie

Pam - Happy Belated Birthday. Sorry about the mammogram. I will probably get one at 35 or so. My dad's mom died at 35 of breast cancer so even though I heard it is usually on the mother's side that you need to worry I don't want to take the chance.

Tammie - I know if we go to the wedding we will have a good time seeing my DH's brother but now they are saying that children aren't invited to the reception and they are having a reception here in Illinois for all the family who can't afford to fly. DH and I are thinking maybe we will just go to the reception here. All of his family will be at that one. We'll see. Can't wait to hear about your trip to the Atlantis.

Debbie - I am feeling better. I did have a cold when I was depressed so maybe that just affected my mood. We are seeing Playhouse Disney Live on Saturday at 11am. When are you going?

Tessa - Sorry about all the sickness going around in your family. Hope they get better soon. I have to dye my hair soon and I am debating going to a hairdresser and having it dyed darker blond w/really light highlights. My sister just got her hair done and she has brown hair w/carmel highlights and it is so.... cool. I am sick of my yellow blond hair and kinda want a change.

Keahi - Can't wait to hear all about your trip. We went to Mon Ami Gabi last night for dinner and it reminded me of the restaurant in France at EPCOT and I pretended like I was there.:cloud9:

Kristin - I'm sure everything will go well.:flower3: I have been through three surgeries before, not the same kind as you but I do know how nerveracking it can be be waiting.

I will be at the 2:00 show. Row D! I am very excited!

I have a very busy week. My Dad's birthday is tomorrow, Birthday lunch thing on Thursday along with swimming and picture day, DS's birthday on Friday, concert on Saturday, party an Sunday and my parent's Anniversary on Monday!

Have a good rest of the week everyone!

Hiya all,
all back to normal - all back at school and work yippeeeeeeee.....

Got to do a half day first aid training at school a week Friday, hopefully it will tell me how to deal with the 200 cut fingers/grazed knees/bumped heads rather than have to call for the supervisor -that's the midday supervisor's supervisor... always makes me chuckle for some reason - the layers of management (does she have a midday supervisors supervisors supervisor...... etc...) there are only 400 kids in the school after all...

Going away that Friday pm to Center Parcs for a long weekend (our half term break is the following week) - don't know if you have the same over there? It is an activity centre for families, you stay in a villa(cabin/shack) and have loads of stuff to do -sports/ swimming/ crazy golf/ restaurants/ spa for adults / disco for kids / kids club / you can book a babysitter, loads of trails to cycle , loads of wildlife (well UK variety -foxes, squirrels, ducks, deer - not bears or mountain lions thankfully!!!!) . It seems really expensive, but it feels like a REAL holiday, so am truly looking forwards to it.

Hope you are all well - certainly seem busy!!!!
Cheers,
Tessa

Hi everyone! I survived my jewelry party! Even got the house clean for it (just don't come over now -- I've pulled sewing stuff back out, plus the kids think it's great for making forts & things on the clean areas).

I'm starting to work on my 2 older kid's Halloween costumes. The little ones I'm buying (that is of course, if I can FIND them at the store).

DD has had some asthma issues we think due to seasonal allergies. She went back to the doctor yesterday and she got a clean bill of health, so just finish up the inhaler we have and hopefully by then it will stay gone. We shall see what shows up next year around this time.

Now the clock is ticking to get about 50,000 things done. My little guy's birthday is Oct. 16, so I have his birthday party to do the Sunday after his birthday, get the costumes done, then I have a bad tooth I need to be taken out and an implant put in. :scared1: I have an appt. Nov. 1 but they just called this morning and they can get me in. I'm waiting to see if my mom calls and is available to watch the little guy. If she is, I can go but I'm scared to find out exactly what it all entails but if she can't watch him, then I will just have to wait until my regular appointment. THANKFULLY I have a high pain tolerance in my mouth -- I guess it's lucky -- because of that I had no idea my tooth was falling apart until it was too late. The dentist put a temporary on and basically told me I needed to get seen ASAP because I was going to have a toothache within a week and he asked about 3 times that it never bothered me to bite down on it, etc... That was at least 2 weeks ago, possibly 3 and so far so good with the pain. The temporary is annoying but doesn't hurt (so far, knock on wood, etc...).

DD has a choir concert coming up soon and I need to get her some black slacks before that happens and well...oh yeah cheerleading try-outs for her and I think a whole bunch of other things on my calendar at the moment. At least this year I'm NOT being a worry wart about the cheerleading try-outs.

I was *SOOO* nervous for her last year because I remember a ton of girls trying out and very few making it plus I know this is going to sound really petty but she wears glasses. There was *never* any cheerleaders wearing glasses when I grew up. Turns out last year ALL the girls who tried out made it & there were only about 16 girls. We counted in the yearbook picture and there were 13 girls -- since a couple girls quit before the season got going as they didn't even want to be on the team in the first place. :confused3 I know there are a couple more uniforms for 8th graders (that dictates how many girls -- just how many uniforms they have! :lmao: ), so if the exact same girls try-out then she definitely has a spot (since everyone will make it! :lmao: ) but we know for a fact that at least 2 of them never wanted to be there in the first place (besides the ones that quit), so probably aren't going to do it again this year (unless it's their moms making them try-out ?????). Cheerleading is definitely different than when I was in school -- it's actually somewhat low-key here in Middle School. The girls only cheer at home games and it's only for basketball season. It's always possible she might not make it this year but the odds are good she will. She's a gymnast so gets bonus points at try-outs for being able to do some of the advanced tumbles.

High School will be a whole other ballgame and competition will be tough then if she chooses to try-out (we have to see if she can do that & still be on the gymnastics team. IF she can do both she can try-out; otherwise -- she needs to do gymnastics team instead!).

Hi everyone! :hippie: How are all of you?? I have missed you all so much!

I am sorry that it seems like I’ve fallen off the face of the earth! I've been doing great, but just feeling so overwhelmed by everything. Since school started, things have been kind of nuts. We've been active in church, DD14 is busy with cheerleading, band and church youth, and I feel like I am constantly dropping off and picking up kids. DH does some of the running, but stays home with DD10 to make sure she gets a bath and does homework. We took DD14 out of dance because we felt it was too much and she wasn't turning in some of her school work. She still managed to get all A's and 2 B's the first six weeks, but it was a struggle. DD10 had a tough transition from 3rd to 4th grade. She found that you don't get babied or coddled in 4th grade, and there has been so much homework! I also felt like I was on the computer so much at home, DH started his fantasy football, which takes up a lot of his time and computer time at our house, and DD14 has been really into MySpace (we are so careful with that) and the computer. She has been using my work laptop at home. We are getting her one for Christmas. I will be one of those crazy people that stand in line the day after Thanksgiving, waiting for the stores to open and catch the good buys. I've been known to do that, and cannot get any family or friends to do that with me. Our plane gets in close to 10pm on Thanksgiving, so I told DH they just need to stop by Best Buy on the way home and drop me off! It's so much fun to do and you can get super buys, especially if you are after anything big. I haven't even looked at the disBoards since my last post! I have been going thru some major w/drawl, and have been missing "talking" to you all terribly, especially with my trip being 37!!!! days away. We are so excited!!!

This past weekend I went camping with DD10’s Girl Scout troop, and one of the moms that rode in my car took a trip to DisneyWorld last year the same days that we are going. I was in heaven. We gabbed the whole way there and back (camp was 2 hrs. away in Oklahoma) about DisneyWorld and our experiences. It got me even more excited than I was.

Monday was our school district's Fair Day, and DH and I took off work and took the girls and 2 of DD14’s friends to the State Fair and to see the Jonas Brothers concert that was there. It was quite an experience. It was so crowded and hot, and people were passing out and getting sick. It was a miserable but fun experience. The girls enjoyed it.

I just got our Magical Express stuff in the mail yesterday, and am going to look thru it today.

I feel like I have so much to catch up on, and I want to get back into it, and my digital pictures. I've taken a ton of pictures with my new camera, but haven't done anything with them. I haven't put my Photoshop on my pc yet. I still have some classes to take. I did get a tripod for our trip, but I need to practice taking night pics.

I am going to get caught up on the reading on this thread to see what everyone has been up to. I'll never catch up on the Picture of the Day thread. I'll get back into that, too. All this time, I kept wanting to pop into disBoards, but was embarrassed about how long I was absent, and it just became harder to jump back in. I love it so much, and I miss you all so much! :grouphug: Have a great day all!!

Just a quick stop by.....Pam2.....thanks for dropping in. I think everyone was just worried something happened to you. This IS the Worry Wart thread! LoL Life gets hectic so I am sure everyone understands, in fact I think most of us have been pretty busy. Glad all is well with!

Becky, tessa..everyone else...Hello!

Welcome back Pam2 !!! Sounds like life is VERY busy!!!

Becky - I sympathise with teeth trouble, mine are genetically rubbish (thanks dad) and crumble at the corners! I hate dentists, so would never take my 2 dds with me either.

Had our school parents evening yesterday- you get 10 whole minutes to speak to your childs teacher then however long to look through their work. Just dead pleased - littlest one last year was "labelled" too sensitive, cries a lot etc . This years teacher said she was one of the top performers, no problems, seems like the eldest in the class (not the youngest which she nearly is!!) and sounded like she wanted to adopt her!!!!!!

Eldest dd was "labelled" last year as doesn't pay attention, away with the faries etc.... This year - in the top group, great imagination, reading and writing 3 years ahead!!! (She's 6 and reads Harry Potter at home!) Only problem we had is she needs to "volunteer" the answers more - if she is asked she knows the answer, but lacks confidence... It is her first male teacher though, so I think that may have a lot to do with it. - does anyone else find their kids react differently to male/female teachers??

Anyhow, got to go decide on our ADRs we are at that magical 180 days before the first one we want, so finger's crossed - ohhh just noticed - here it is near 11 am - there it will only be nearly 6am - so lines don't open yet.......I am too excited.......I know we probably don't need to book up today, but it is our first PROPER planning tick on the list so I am going to do it anyhow!:cool1:

bye for now
Tessa

Just checking in to say Hi! Been busy at home the past few days with a sick child. A nasty head cold will just not leave our house - my youngest had it three weeks ago; I had it last week; now my oldest just got it - and she's special needs so a cold is never just a cold for her. But she was bright-eyed and cheery this am - so off to school she went! Yeah - free time - back to the Disboards!:cool1:

Tessa - Good luck in your quest for ADRs. Hope you get what you want! Nice to hear you got such glowing reports about your kids at school! Doesn't it make you proud? I know as mothers, we always second-guess everything we do with our kids; but it's SO validating when you hear a teacher say such positive things about your kid! We must be doing something right! As far as the male teacher thing: I was always concerned about that too - my youngest always formed a very "lovey-dovey" relationship with her teachers (with the exception of a very cranky 5thgrade math teacher!), but never had a male teacher. Here we are, her first year of middle school and she has two! It doesn't faze her in the least - I think it helps that one of them is adorable and all the girls seem to have a crush on him! She seems very comfortable with both of them though. For my daughter, I don't think it mattered if her teachers were male or female - as long as they were nice and didn't yell, she liked them just fine!

Hi to everyone else. Nice to hear from some returning posters! I look forward to chatting with all.

Debbie - Hope everyone is doing well.

It's so good to be back. I've current on all of the posts, have skimmed thru them all, but will really catch up this weekend. I have missed keeping up with you all so much. I thought about you often. I am glad everyone's doing well. It sounds like back to school is kicking everyone's rear! Looking forward to a night of no activities (except maybe tons of homework) tonight and maybe even a mini date night tomorrow night w/DH!! We may order pizza for the girls, then go out to eat somewhere we want to go (preferably somewhere that does NOT have chicken nuggets on the menu!). We've never done that, have only left them w/the grandparents! I know they're old enough. If I can just get over that little bit of guilt and enjoy a nice dinner. No plans for Saturday!! I love weekends like that! We have plenty of stuff to do around the house....as usual. Lots of cleaning, organizing and purging, which never seems to end. :laundy: Have a great day, everyone!

Nice to meet you, Camster!

:grouphug:

OMG! I am so happy to hear I am not alone-my husband will be shocked to hear there's other people out there like me. We are leaving in three weeks for WDW and I am freaking out!!!!!!! We went last Nov., and everyone was sick! My kids never swam in the pool, they had high temps, strep, you name it! We spend our afternoons at the first aid in the parks refilling on meds. My kids have been home on different days this week with just colds. I am so nervous about them being sick for the trip. I have stockpiled zinc, probiotics yogurt, vitamin c, you name it.

It gives me great relief to know I am not alone. I take it you guys also bring Clorox wipes on your trip to sanitize the room?

Hey guys I'm still around! I was going to e-mail you Deb, but like the rest of you I've been sooooooooo busy! :confused3

It gives me great relief to know I am not alone. I take it you guys also bring Clorox wipes on your trip to sanitize the room?

I have done that (I wipe off the bathroom). I have also taken Lysol and sprayed down with that.

I am known to bring paper toilet seat covers and Lysol spray in my travel backpack. I'm becoming a major germaphobe for my old age!

TGIF everyone!!:yay:
