Man, this board needs to chill out. You are going on vacation right? How can this much stress be relaxing. I worry about about everything too, especially air travel, I hat e to fly but my docotr gives me something to calm my nerves and it works so weel that i often fall asleep before take off. Yeah, I know Disney costs a lot of money. But if I forget something, I'm sure I can find a replacement at Disney. Life's and vacations are too short to sweat the small stuff.

I've been so busy - I just realized - only 4 days until I'm leaving for Atlantis!!!!!

I started putting aside Summer outfits, flip flops and swimsuits last weekend - no suitcase yet. My DGS tore up my packing list yesterday - how will I remember anything! I will start panicking on Friday, as usual!
I always swear I will be more organized and calm this time - Ha! Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Right on! Now that this year's trip is less than 2 months away - my itinerary is set and all ADRs are made - I'm already looking into dates for our 2008 trip!

I'm not content if I'm not planning a Disney trip!

Hi, Can I join you if I'm a semi-worry wart -- although control freak probably is good.

Although, I don't know Debbie would probably put me in the "worry wart" category when driving into the "city" to get to concerts. I so need a GPS. I'm going to see HSM on Ice in January and already a bit freaked out about the drive -- although I'll stress more later when it's closer (and then found out the boys have their Pinewood Derby the *same* day so that's going to be a trick to figure out! )

Anyway -- Hello everyone -- I'm Becky mom to 4 munchkins and DH tells me I like to control everything. Then again, I always do get my way, so I guess the control pays off.

I'm having a party this weekend and I'm a bit freaking out on that one. Although I need to be cleaning (cleaning is not something I worry about on a day to day basis -- just when we are going to have company). I will start that after I finish my tea and am done on the computer. No one seems to think I'll have it ready by Sunday.

It's just a jewelry party so not anything huge but I'm stressing out on it because apparently some people never got their invites. The RSVP's are supposed to be in tomorrow or Friday and there are a lot we haven't heard from! I'm not expecting everyone to call -- they don't for kid's birthday parties why would they for this but now that I've heard some people had no clue about it when DD asked them, I'm now wondering if most the invites went into never never land???????????

There are lots of other things too but since this is my first post don't want to overwhelm you all.

Welcome Becky!! Glad to have you here!! Visit often. There are lots of great listeners here. People come and go but it's a nice place to have in your back pocket when you need to vent, complain, toss out some ideas, ask questions, etc. Everyone is so sweet and friendly! I love this thread.
Oh.... I have to still PM you about driving but short version is we need to wait and see what is going on with the construction before we decide what route you should take! The exit you should probably take is closed right now(Touhy off of 294N).

Hi Becky! Welcome! A little advice from a consultant - 1. people don't look at those invites - the DH throws them away like junk mail. 2. People no longer know what RSVP means 3. If you call everyone Fri or Sat and remind them, you'll probably have a good turn out. If you don't you'll probably have 1 or 2. Go figure Hope you have a successful party and have fun!!!

Need to vent: anyone out there have ex-husbands that always manage to get on their last nerve? And how do I not let him? My ex showed up to my daughter's tennis lesson yesterday. Lesson ended at 4:30 - he wanted to take her back to his house to show her something in her new room; didn't know why they had to do this yesterday - my girls are spending the weekend w/him, but, as usual, I go against my better judgement and say "yes, but have her home by 5:30." -- she still had about 1hr.worth of homework to do;have dinner; and shower. On top of that, I had back-to-school night to leave for at 6:15,so being the anal person that I am, wanted to have the girls all set by the time the sitter came. As usual - he's late! 5:45 - I call - they were just leaving! Didn't get her home until just after 6pm! AND he's got there nerve to be mad at ME for being annoyed that he's 1/2hour late! On top of that, he cursed me out in front of my daughter and now she's upset and worried that I'm mad at her too for being late! Do I really need this drama in the middle of my evening routine? I never learn my lesson: the man is ALWAYS late! and has no respect for other people's schedule. My girls & I have a nice little evening routine and I let him throw it out of whack - I'm so mad at myself for letting him! End of venting - thanks

Thanks! It's been weird. I knew it was an iffy weekend to pick being Columbus day weekend but that's what fit my schedule within the 30 day window so DD could get a free necklace. Plus then she was able to have a friend sleep-over.

So far I think we have 6 people (adults -- we will have more than 6 since some are bringing their girls) coming for sure. We have 2 "iffy" ones but at least we did find out those girls did get their invites as DD asked them all at gymnastics. 2 of them can't come because they will be out of town & 2 of them think they are coming. Then I have about 9-10 other ones that I have no idea for. It would be nice to get at least 10 people there as if we do, we get an incentive but if we don't that's OK we will still have fun. I don't know a whole lot of people in the 1st place -- this was mostly for a Mom & Me thing & DD invited a bunch of her friends and their moms. I'm just hoping more than just the 1 friend can make it or she is going to be bummed out. Her 2nd best friend (who would have also slept over) can't come due to the holiday weekend. Her & 1 friend had so much fun at the party we went to with trying on all the jewelry plus my DD is so good at coming up with things. I know she's coming because we checked at the other party to see how that would work & if they were available.

The consultant has been doing this 6 years and never gave it a thought for using some particular type of earrings as pendants for necklaces -- DD thought of it later after we got home and we were looking through the book to see what we would like at our party, so I called to ask if that's possible. So, it's going to be interesting to see what comes out of this party since we hadn't thought of it either at the other party so didn't even *look* at the earrings (neither DD nor I have pierced ears -- so didn't even check them out). We are going to try some of the combinations DD thought up to see how they turn out.

DD is supposed to take the invite to the one girl who was when she asked if she was coming to the party! This has happened to us before with birthday invites, I call asking about the RSVP -- I get the "party? what party?" and then 2 weeks after the party the invite comes back as "undeliverable" even though I had the correct address -- I think we figured that one out but it was weird. One can never know with the post office. Some invites I handed out, some I mailed but they were hand addressed envelopes vs. a post-card so hopefully they didn't look like junk mail.

Hi newbies! I haven't been myself lately so I haven't been on the DIS alot.

Camster - My SIL has that problem w/her ex, and many others. It's must be hard, especially if you are always on time and try not to take his time w/the kids away from him. I feel for you and your kids.

Becky - I stress about cleaning for company when I know their house is absolutely perfect all the time.

Debbie - Are you seeing Playhouse Disney Live? I wanted to take DD but I am not sure how good of tickets I would need to see the stage good.

Tammie - I wish I was going to the Bahamas. We probably won't go on an island vacation next year because we will be going to my BIL's wedding in Vancouver. I'm sure we'll have fun but not as relaxing as sitting on the beach, playing in the pools. Oh well.

Hope you are OK Lisa. YES, we are going to Playhouse Disney Live (rememeber I am a Disney production addict). We got great seats but the theater is small so there isn't really too many bad seats.

It reminds me of WDW in October because it has been hot during the day and cools down at night! I LOVE it! The weather really effect my anxiety and mood so it really has been wonderful so far.....

Exciting times - we're currently staying at OKW, and with the announcement of a Disney Resort/DCV property being built in Hawaii - well, it's got DH seriously thinking about buying into DVC on this trip. The announcement about Hawaii may be the clincher to get him off the fence !!! Now we just got to figure out where to get the money from....

Anyways, I've been thinking about you guys a lot lately. Hope everyone is doing well. I'll put together a trip report (yes, Debbie, complete with photos ) when I return home next week... Hopefully I won't be suffering from the post-Disney blues too badly...

I'm flying out tomorrow - we're babysitting Myles and Londynn, as the 'rents have to take one of 4 tests to get in to their Masters program next year - so looks like I am driving myself to the airport in the late afternoon The other grandparents flaked out on them as usual. I'll be flying all night - get in at 11 Sun am to Nassau. I will sleep on the plane, you can rent DVD players on board - just hope I don't snore

Boy it feels like forever since I've been here! How is everyone doing, I will have to catch up here!!
We just found out last night that our oh so exciting Christmas/New Years trip to Disney world is off!!! The extended family we were going with had to cancel....which is such a bummer!!!! I am so sad! But I am cheering myself up because I just got off the phone with a travel agent about visiting Disneyland instead....It's within a loooooong driving distance, but we are doing it!! We have the time off work and all, so why not! And we so don't want to dissappoint our wee one, it's been such a sucky year!!!!! We need to keep this vacation going!!!

P.S. I am having the surgery on Oct. 25 th for the endometriosis....not thrilled, but wanna get it over with! I'll let you know how it goes!!!

Guess I need to update my timer....and now all the shirts I've made are no good!!!!! Bummer...must get a hold of those Disigners for some changes!!!! YIKES!!! So much to do again!!!

Hiya all -
I cannot believe I last checked in 3 pages ago!!!! No Debs - I haven't gone off with Pam2 - I guess she has a "life" now where worrying is less featured....
Life has been busy - work is just one hour a day - I guess I'm just not used to it yet - getting tired as it is all standing up walking round supervising kids and stopping them from killing each other....- never had a job i couldn't sit down to do before. Also, the little darlings I look after all have colds - so I now have a stinker of a cold also hubby and 2 dd's - one of which is now on antibiotics for an ear infection - her first go of antibiotics - so I've been watching her paranoid for rashes etc (I am allergic to penicillin!)

Not a lot happening over here - Our prime minister Gordon Brown has wimped out of calling a snap election, just cos the opposition leader made a halfway decent speech at their party conference, so nooooo excitement at all - even in the news....

Thanks for the answers to my queries folks - will be watching for my 180 day deadline to book up dining with characters for one meal at least....
