Yesterday this bird was in our garden.

Not exactly what you expect to see in a housing estate in Kent :rotfl2:

Anyone know exactly what it is?

Oh certainly a hawk of some kind, possibly a Sparrow Hawk, wonder if it has escaped?

Claire ;)

You can get these birds of prey anywhere. My mum had one in her garden one morning after it had caught a sparrow. We watched it as its something you don't see everyday.
Fantastic picture!:thumbsup2

We had a hawk in our garden a while ago and it had also brought its lunch. It stayed for quite a while and left after it had finished eating, leaving only the feathers of its prey. :scared1:

Sparrow hawks are getting very common now in our gardens as they know it's easy pickings for them. We had one last week, it took a blue tit and the blue tit was squealing as the hawk flew of with it.
It's not nice to see.
The picture you took was brilliant jo well done :thumbsup2 :cool1:

we have seen stragne things where we live as late too - my mum saw a full grown adult wolf near bluewater a while back when driving to get onto the A2!!!!
so it doesnt surprise me!!

My mum saw a hawk a couple of years back at the school she worked at.

I assume it must have escaped from a wildlife park because they are extinct here aren't they?

I'm not sure about down there, but these birds are regularly seen around here.

Lovely pic too !! :thumbsup2

Sorry, I meant wolves have been extinct for several hundred years. We often get sparrow hawks in our garden too.

:rotfl2: I thought you meant sparrow hawks too, my friend who is a bit of a bird watcher says they're pretty rare now down here and I was really lucky to see it :)
