my in-laws bought their points in the early 90s. They always talk about spending thanksgiving in the villa and Disney chefs coming in and making their Thanksgiving dinner. Did anyone else do this? Is this a service that used to be offered? Anyone else do this?

We make our own dinner but I have never heard of Disney chefs coming to your room. I would think that they would be busy serving the masses on Thanksgiving.

This was years ago, like mid nineties. Their whole family talks about it, so I know they are not making it up or misremembering. I just wonder if this was a common service, or if it was something special that they commissioned.

I have actually heard of this before. I think it was a perk for original members. Maybe at OKW.

We did our own Thanksgiving Dinner in an OKW 1-bdrm back in '97.
Never heard of a chef coming in and preparing the meal.
DW made the turkey and dressing in the room and we had 8 family members come as day guests, who brought the sides and desserts.

We actually ordered out from Cracker Barrel and brought it back to the Villa. They did a pretty good job. They had a special order for that, and there were a good number of people who were picking up orders.

Hosting family and friends at your house? Spend plenty of time with them instead of being stuck in the kitchen, by reserving Cracker Barrel’s Thanksgiving Dinner To-Go. Available from November 17 through November 25, just call at least 24 hours ahead of time and they’ll have everything hot, packed and ready to go. It’s a turkey n’ dressing meal to serve up to six people, complete with gravy, baked ham, choice of three vegetables, cranberry relish, and made-from-scratch biscuits, corn muffins or a loaf of sourdough bread for 54.99. Reward those who save room for dessert with freshly baked whole Holiday Pies for 7.99. Choices include Pumpkin Pecan Streusel (Thanksgiving Day only), Apple Streusel, Chocolate Pecan, Pecan, and No-Sugar-Added Apple Pie.

I have cooked Thanksgiving turkey dinner in our villa at VGC the first year it was open. It was great fun to be able to go to DCA, and run back to baste, and do some prep work for the side dishes. The sides got cooked while the turkey was resting. It came out fantastic too.
After dinner, leftovers went in the fridge, the dishes pots, and pans went into the dishwasher, and we back to the parks.
