Livin on a Fantasy!! September 29, 2012 Disney Fantasy

Hello!

My husband and I will be joining you for our 3rd Disney cruise, and it will be the first for our then-2-year-old (almost 3-year-old) son. I'm Starshine95123's daughter, Julie. It's still a year and a half away, but we're all excited already!

Hi everyone! :wave2:

We booked this one awhile ago but haven't checked in till now! This will be our second cruise and we planned it so that we will be cruising on our first wedding anniversary! Its hard to imagine having a full year between the wedding and the cruise since I am still 3 months out from BEING married... and knowing the both of us will then be 30 (!!!) puts the whole long term Disney planning cycle in a whole new light! :rotfl: Here is hoping for bright weather and easy sailing!

DH and I just booked this cruise. We are empty-nesters and will be going alone so far. But we are inviting a lot of in-laws and out-laws. So that could change. This will be our 6th DCL cruise. We have done the 3 and 4 nighters on the Wonder, both 7 nighters on the Magic, and the 11 night cruise in the Med on the Magic. We are really excited to see one of the newer ships.

Hi everyone.

Haven't read through the whole thread yet, but thought I'd post in and say hello!

We have paid our deposit and are booked to sail on the Fantasy with you all in Sept 2012:cool1::cool1::cool1:

It will be our 15 year wedding anniversary, and we're very excited to be spending it aboard a Disney ship.

We sailed on the Magic earlier this year and had a wonderful time. We found it to be a great way to spend family time, and still have the kids able to do fun stuff that they love as well.

Looking forward to chatting over the coming months!
Welcome aboard everyone. Sorry I have been MIA--working lots and the kids taxi driver to dance, gymnastics, band, etc!!! I will add all of you to our web page, and would love any info you can provide....such as spouses names, kids names and ages at time of the cruise, are you participating in the FE or SM??? early or late dining, etc
Glad to have some more people to chat with. I imagine a lot more people will join us as we get closer to the sail date. I'm so excited to go on our first DCL cruise.

Sounds like a lot of anniveraries will be celebrated on this cruise. We will be celebrating our 40th anniversary. My daughter (TrojanJulez), son-in-law and our sweet little grandson (almost 3 on the cruise) will be going too. It will be their 10th anniversay. They've also decided to bring SIL's sister (17) with them.
is the 17 yr old in their stateroom???

Ok so I added all of you, but as I said above there isn't much info as I only have what you have given at this point. If you are gonna participate in the FE (fish extender) I will need kids names, ages, and staeroom number for sure. Names are because some people make personalized things for their gift giving!!!!

I can't wait for this cruise!!! Normally we cruise DCL every 18 months or so and we haven't since Oct 2009...OMG it will be 3 yrs when we get on the Fantasy....I am justing gonna die!!!!

OUR GROUP
Here is a link to our web page with a list of our cruisemates, info on the area, whether its info from Disney about excursions, or info on weather. Also any one wanting to post a family pic so we can recognize each other at the port!!

Welcome back! I figured everyone must be busy with graduations and summer activities but would be back soon.

Yes, I am looking forward to doing the FE! Marty and I are in stateroom 8677 and have early dining. The early dining works better for our little grandson. :)

And yes, my daughter's 17 year old sister-in-law will be in the room with them. :rotfl: She shared a stateroom with them on our 2007 Alaska cruise, so everyone knows what to expect. The DCL room is also a little larger than the room on Princess. None of us spend a lot of time in our rooms anyway.

Wow, Michelle - you are so on-top of things! Thank you for setting up that great website!

Here is our info:
Me: Julie
DH: Sean
DS: Rylan - 2 years old (but he'll turn 3 in less than a month after we sail)
SIL: Rachel - 16 years old

We are in stateroom 8180, and we would love to participate in the Fish Extender.

And like Starshine (my mom) said, we have early dining.

Thanks!

I have not been able to find Costa Maya excursions on the DCL website. Is this something that we're just going to have to wait to book onboard? Does anyone know what types of things will be offered? I'm guessing ruins, beach days, and tours?

We are so excited! DH's Mom, his Sister and her Husband, one of his Brothers and his wife have decided to join us on our cruise. So we have reserved 4 staterooms so far. But DD and her soon to be hubby are thinking of going too! And another brother is thinking about it. Maybe 6 staterooms! What a great anniversary trip! We have all gone to WDW together before and had the best time ever. So I am really looking forward to this adult only cruise. We have a trip to Puerto Rico this November planned. But I am having a tough time concentrating on that. I just keep going back to planning this cruise. :thumbsup2

Wow, your group keeps growing. :lmao: How fun!

We went with a group of 9 on our first cruise (Alaska), 14 on our 2nd cruise (Mexican Riveria), and just hubby and me on our 3rd cruise (Panama Canal). Hubby and I will be cruising to Alaska again this September. Our Fantasy cruise will be a small group, just 6 of us. We really enjoyed cruising with our family group and hope to do it again soon.

Sounds like you are the expert at cruising with larger groups. We've taken some big groups to WDW, but have never cruised with more than 4 people in two staterooms. Luckily, DH's family is very easy going and fun to be around. They have no problems going separate ways on trips. So I don't think it will be a problem if we all do different things throughout the day and meet up for dinner and evening entertainment. So we should be able to avoid too much stress. My side of the family would be a very different story! :rotfl:

We had no problem doing different excursions or even activities around the ship. Everyone did their own thing, sometimes with others in the group, sometimes not. Someone would say "I want to do (fill in the blank), anyone else want to do this?" No pressure at all. But, we always had dinner together. :lmao: We had side by side tables for the group of 14, and we rotated seats every night. We had great wait staff, very understanding and they always kept up with us. Fun times, can't wait to do it again.

Hello all!! Wow, I like that you all are convincing others to join us. I haven't added them to our list. Will wait to see if they join into our group on here and FE list. We have always cruised with at least 8 people....we too just say ok do what ya want and dinner is our time together to tell each about our adventures. This time we are dragging along our friends....probably our best friends...we have 2 families we do things with all the time, wish I could get both to go but one DW gets bad motion sickness and I can't convince her to join us! Arrggghhhh!!!

Well I have had a great time this last week making some good tips, so I paid off our WDW trip for this Sept!! I am so excited. This was the first DIsney trip we didn't have paid at least 6 months in advance....so it feels real good to have it paid now. Just time to save for spending money.....extra ADR's, shopping, and whatever!!

Well off to do laundry...gotta work again tonight...8 days in a row with 2 doubles....can't wait for tomorrow and sunday off!!! Although Sunday I am volunteering in the Nursery for church and then my own service to go to...so Sunday will be filled from 8am-noon...after that maybe I will have some sunning time =)))

TTFN

Congrats on your 15th! I forgot to mention that we will be celbrating our 30th on this cruise. We have celebrated our 20th and 25th on DCL cruises. So it is looking like it is a trend for us. Congrats again!

Wow, congrats on nearly 30 years

Looks like there are lots of people here already for a cruise that is 15 months away.... so glad we booked when we did :)

Not sure about joining the FE just yet, luckily have some time to decide still.

Hope everyone is enjoying summer :cool1:

Michelle, I envy you. This is the first time I can remember since 1995 that I do not have a trip to WDW planned. I don't know when we will be going back!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe we will add a couple days before or after the cruise next year. But that may cause a bit of a stir if we don't invite the whole gang to join us. They are used to joining us at WDW using our DVC points. But after paying points for the Med cruise last year, going to AKV for a week in May, and treating my DD to a honeymoon this September at BCV, I am becoming point poor. I think I am just going to have to concentrate on the cruise and our trip to Puerto Rico in November. But it is tough hearing about others going to WDW.

I am pretty sure we will not be joining in the FE. We are all adults and I am the only DISer in the bunch. But DH and I may come to a meet. I like to meet everyone at the beginning of the cruise. Then we can greet each other during the cruise. We have a tendency to forget about meets that are planned later in the cruise. Although we did go to a tasting with a bunch of DISer's a few years ago. It was a blast! A lot of people showed up for that one. ;)

You can just sign up urself and DH. :thumbsup2 U don't have to sign up the whole gang for FE. I as an adult enjoyed it just as mush as the kids, if not more!!:lovestruc! U don't wanna miss out! :sad2: I have an idea for my FE...something for adults, and something different for kids. I will probably work on them over the winter so I have them pretty much done before the summer. I hope that people register by the summer cause for those of us who do personalized gifts it's nice to know all the names of people. But we will just have a cut-off for registering just like on my last cruise. People order stuff and need a count , so a good cut off date will probably be Aug 1st.

Eva - thank you for posting those Costa Maya excursions! That gives me a good idea of what might be available. There's actually more than I expected for a 3-year old, too!

Thanks for posting the Costa Maya excursions info. That's good info to have so we can start thinking about our trip.

I am wondering if any of the excursions there will be worth it though. According to the schedule, we'll be in port less than 5 hours. I just wonder if that will give enough time to really enjoy anything without feeling rushed? :confused3

I know I'm weird, but the last thing I want when on vacation is feeling like I have to rush around.
