littlest pet shops

I agree - the professional Ebayers can make it really hard for us to find things for our kids and that can be frustrating. However, I have been tempted from time to time to pick up one or two extras to help pay for the one I am picking up for personal use or the holidays. The only reason I don't is Ebay is a pain to me - not because I am a better person than that. Really can't blame someone for wanting to bring in a little extra to help out their family.

IDODis - it was nice of you to offer them! :wizard:

I TOTALLY agree, I have done the same thing...picked up a couple of extras to cover the cost of what I was buying.

And people talk about paying taxes on eBay...wonder how that works? I have sold quite a bit over the years but have NEVER been told by the accountant that I need to declare it? :confused3

My DH and I were talking about these toys coming to McDonalds...I remember how excited my DD was when Polly Pockets were at McDonalds and how disappointed she was when she got one...I wonder how the pets will stack up!?

That's the first thing DD asked when I told her they're coming out - "Will they be the Good kind of happy meal toy?"

Time to get a new accountant! Seriously, have you told them what you do and they say "that's fine, no tax consequences" or have you just not been asked about it? A good accountant would know that this is taxable income.

This is JMHO, I don't see anything "wrong" in picking up maybe one or two more to see if you can eBay them for a few extra bucks to help out your family, either. However, when someone's buying a huge excess, for example, 9+, it does seem a little wrong since it'll leave low or no stock left for other families who actually want to give these to their children for Christmas. You're entitled to buy as many as you want (although I personally think Target should've put a cap on how many you could purchase), but sometimes thinking about other people before yourself isn't such a bad thing. Just my $0.02, not trying to start any arguments.

On another note, I picked up a LPS stocking for my daughter yesterday at Target. It's the cutest white poodle with blue bows in her hair with the stocking on the bottom. Other than that and the LPS ornaments, they had LPS musical snowglobes. I tried to figure out what they play but it was not posted on the box and the button to turn it on was on the bottom of the globe where I couldn't get to it.

OH, and K-Mart has these Buy 1, Get 1 Half off. Happy Holidays! :wave2:

We have talked about it...I guess it isn't THAT much...but it depends on how you look at it. Would be hard, because sometimes I will buy toys here and there that are hard to finds and then put them on there...might make a few bucks. Guess it probably wouldn't be over a $500 profit when you take away what I paid for the items and ALL the fees that I pay.

Hey all. I just wanted to let you know that Fred Meyer has the Biggest Littlest Pet shop for $30 this week and then they are also offering an additional 10% off all toys. (Other LPS are 15% off). So I got it for $27.

Fred Meyer is owned by Kroger, so I don't know if there are other stores with the same sale in other areas. (I am in Washington State.)

Ebay sales have always been taxable, no matter what the amount. Some people sell on Ebay as their job. If you don't like it, you have the choice not to shop there. I don't think it is fair to flame someone for making a living, just because you don't agree with it. I have a problem with Walmart's practices, but I don't berate people that work there, I just shop accordingly. It can be tough to make a living, so I understand people do what they have to do (as long as it is within the law, I have no problem).

But, the people who want to pay a premium and buy them on Ebay are able to buy them. Don't their kids count? I saw plenty of these items at Target the first week they were out, even saw a few yesterday. If anyone had to have one at retail price, they could have.

I don't know where you are from, but I was told here in the Cincinnati area, they were pretty much sold out the first day.

I just came on here to find out if anyone has any more info on the McD's ones that are coming out. ie begin date, pets included, etc...

Anything that is above what you paid for the item, including the sales tax you paid, less any eBay and Paypal fees would be taxable. So let's say you paid $5.00 for a pet with sales tax included. You then sold it on eBay for $10.00. The fees would be approximately $1.00. If you accept Paypal, that would cost you .59, so your net gain would be $3.41. TECHNICALLY that is all taxable. You would also have to take into account shipping. If you MADE money on shipping, that too would be taxable. Let's assume, for this excercise, that you charged exactly what it cost you. You would be able to deduct your mileage to and from the post office at what ever the going rate is; I think it is 44.5 cents per mile. So, if you sold 10 items at that $3.41 illustrated above, that would be $34.10 in profit. But you traveled 10 miles round trip to the post office, to deliver those packages, so you could deduct $4.45 in mileage. You also spent $5 on packaging supplies, which could also be deducted. Now your actual taxable income on those 10 items is $24.65; nothing to wirte home about, but technically taxable nonetheless.

Technically and Legally.

I haven't sold anything on ebay in about 8 months. I thought it would be an easy way to get some quick extra holiday cash. No need to be flamed for it. I've offered to sell my extras here at cost plus shipping to anyone here that needs one, so please stop being so grumpy. Three are gone so I have 3 left.

I wanted to apologize if I came across as grumpy. I'm not against people buying some extra to sell on ebay to help with Christmas. I just know that it's hard when it's something your little one really wants and you can't find it anywhere. When I was at my Target the cashier said some lady bought 25.

Yeah, I called every Target in Cincinnati are (there are like 8), and a couple of the CSR that answered the phone told me basically the same thing. One told me that there was a woman at the door first thing in the morning on the day that they went on the floor, and she bought EVERY one of them.

Where does that leave me to find one for my daughter? eBay. I didn't like having to spend $43 for it. Someone posted above that buying the extras is "helping" those eBayers. Maybe in some regards, but leaving some on the shelves is helping the rest of us that can't afford to pay double for everything.

I am not sure if you are referring to my post -as far as the "helping" - I was talking about buying a couple extra - not clearing out the shelves.....

DH was told a lady at our store tried to buy 20 - they told her no and decided to limit it to 2 per person....hopefully Target has learned from the experience and those limits will be posted in the future! :sunny:

No problem! :goodvibes

When I first went to the store I bought only one. I went back a couple of days later to shop and saw that the end-cap still had 30 or 40 still there. After thinking about the link that someone posted here showing that someone got nearly $80 for a set, I decided to pick up some more. I was doing the math thinking a profit of $50 per tin times 8 = $400 and I'd only have to take one picture (as opposed to digging out clothes, washing, ironing, scanning for any stains, laying them out and taking several photos --which is the reason why I haven't listed anything in months).

I guess the extra $$ was very appealing and as bad as it sounds, if I didn't get them, some other ebayer would have. However, ebay is not what it used to be when I first started selling in '99. There are sooo many sellers now that the prices have come down. Most people are only getting around $35 for the tins now (plus probably another $6 profit in shipping) because there are so many listed . To me, that just isn't worth the hassle. By the time I pay the ebay & paypal fees, box them up, use gas to go to the PO, etc, the profit is minimal. If it's something I have around the house to get rid of, then it would be worth it, but in this case (buying them) it was not. I offered them to anyone here. before returning them because I didn't want anyone to go without.

I ordered the Chinchilla for my daughter through hasbrotoyshop TWO WEEKS ago today, and it finally came. While I know that the Thanksgiving holiday was in there, THAT is a LOOOOONG time to ship something that can go coast to coast via USPS parcel post in under a week.

I know!! - they seem to have alot of backorders.

I am currently waitng for the squirrel and an I-Cat!!! They are supposed to ship by the end of the week - I sure hope so!!! :sunny:

Even once they say it's been shipped, it takes a long time.

I placed an order on 11/22, and another on 11/23. They were shipped on 11/29 & 11/30, but I still haven't received them.

Still not as bad as disneyshopping though - that order was shipped 11/25 & still isn't here.

Mcdonald's Happy Meal?? Very Curious. If my DD's find out we'll be eating out every day until we get all the pets. Now I'm trying to figure out Am I doing this for my girls or am I doing this for me?
