Can you tell I love music?

Well, anyway, it's pretty self-explanatory. Just list your ten favorite albums (CDs, whatever) ever. And if you have a tie, of however many albums, just eliminate that many spaces from your top ten list.

Now then. Here's my top ten (drumroll, Anton):

1. Revolver--The Beatles
2. Physical Graffiti--Led Zeppelin
3. Violent Femmes--Violent Femmes
4. Sign 'O' The Times--Prince
5. Diesel and Dust--Midnight Oil
6. The Wall--Pink Floyd
7. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars--David Bowie
8. Automatic For the People--R.E.M.
9. I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got--Sinead O'Connor
10. Appetite For Destruction--Guns N' Roses

So. There you have it. Pretty mainstream list, I agree. But I left off tons of really good stuff. My criteria for making the top ten was fairly simple: any album that's free of any filler (e.g., no tracks that I skip over) and that I listen to repeatedly, year after year.

So let me see your top ten! :hyper:

I'll just throw a few out there in no particular order and date myself.

On and On, Stephen Bishop
Piano Man, Billy Joel
Yellow Brick Road, Elton John
James Taylor, James Taylor (little known album released by Apple Records-the Beatles label)
Chicago 1,2,3,4,5,6,7

Man, I wish I had my music inventory list here! It's going to be hard to come up with 10 off the top of my head! But I'll try...

In no particular order, really:

1. Astronaut - Duran Duran
2. So Red the Rose - Arcadia
3. Disintegration - The Cure
4. Aladdin Sane - David Bowie
5. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars - David Bowie
5. American Idiot - Green Day
6. Siren - Roxy Music
7. Ethernaut - The Cruxshadows
8. Pornography - The Cure
9. Darklore Manor - Nox Arcana
10. The Dresden Dolls - The Dresden Dolls

oh this is hard! I am going to do straight off the top of my head. In no particular order, or I'd be here all day :p

1. Roxy Music - Roxy Music
2. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
3. A-Ha - Hunting High & Low
4. Sonic Youth - EVOL
5. Ornette Coleman - Free Jazz
6. Loren Mazzacane-Conors - Airs
7. Regina Spektor - Begin to Hope
8. Nico - The End
9. Theresa Brewer & Duke Ellington - It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing
10. Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense

I'll give an honorable mention to The Smiths - couldn't pick one of theirs I definitely liked best!

10. The Dresden Dolls - The Dresden Dolls

Oh I love that Dresden Dolls album. And I can't believe I didn't add any Cure or Bowie :sad2: - oh well, I don't know which one of theirs I would pick anyway. It's hard to do this off the top of your head :teeth:

I am probably going to date myself as well. This is my opinion- my favs - albums with songs I still enjoy today.

1. Thriller - Michael Jackson
2. 1999 - Prince
3. Main Course - Bee Gees
4. Off The Wall - Michael Jackson
5. Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy - Elton John
6. I AM - Earth, Wind & Fire
7. Saturday Night Fever (Soundtrack)
8. Shadow Dancing - Andy Gibb
9. Faith - George Michael
10. Make It Big - Wham!

My favorites, those that I played the grooves off of, in no particular order:

AC/DC - Highway to Hell
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Rush - Moving Pictures
J. Geils Band - Freeze Frame
The Cars - self titled
The Brothers Johnson - Light Up The Night
Heatwave - Too Hot to Handle
ZZ Top - El Loco

/
Abbey Road - The Beatles
Graceland - Paul Simon
Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morisette
Songs You Know by Heart - Jimmy Buffett
Red Headed Stranger - Willie Nelson

I think that's actually my complete list. I'm kind of a commitment-phobe when it comes to albums. I'm not a fan of "deep cuts", so I tend to stick to digital music or compilations versus full albums. But a few are a pleasure from start to finish.

Oh man, this is going to be tough. Strictly going off the top of my head, in no particular order, reserving the right to change my mind in the future…

1. Led Zeppelin – Physical Graffiti
2. Queen – A Night at the Opera
3. Metallica – Ride the Lightening
4. Lynyrd Skynyrd – pronounced 'lĕh-'nérd 'skin-'nérd
5. Blues Traveler – Live from the Fall
6. Eric Clapton – One More Car, One More Rider
7. BB King – Live in Cook County Jail
8. Willie Nelson – Red Headed Stranger
9. Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon
10. Johnny Cash – American III: Solitary Man

This was extremely difficult for me. I couldn’t even fit Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, The Rat Pack, or Van Halen on to this list. Robert Randolph and the Family Band’s "Live at the Wetlands" is a CD that I obsessed over for 6 months after purchasing it, and yet it didn’t make my list. And a CD that I have listened to probably 1000 times in the past year – "Return of the Champions" by Queen + Paul Rodgers – couldn’t crack the Top 10 either. Although, I found it most difficult to pick my favorite albums by my favorite artists. I have listened to all of Queen’s albums probably 50,000 times each and I had a real hard time picking just one. I could have copped out by picking a greatest hits album, but that wouldn’t be fair to the great songs that don’t get any airtime. Ditto for Led Zeppelin. And BB King is one of my favorites ever, but his old studio work is so hard to find that I have to settle for live performances and box sets. So this is the best I can do for now.

1. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band - Beatles
2. The Beatles (White Album) - The Beatles
3. Abbey road - The Beatles
4. A1A - Jimmy Buffett
5. You Had To B There - Jimmy Buffett
6. Concious Party - Ziggy Marly & The Melody Makers
7. CSNY - Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
8. Hurricane - Bob Dylan
9. Stop Making Sense - Talking Heads
10.Making Money For Nothing - Dire Straits

8: Deftone: White Pony

Aren't a whole lot of albums where I love almost every song. I'm assuming we aren't counting Greatest Hits type albums.

Bat Out of Hell (Meatloaf)
Unleashed (Toby Keith)
High n Dry (Def Leppard)
Tigerlily (Natalie Merchant)

My Fair Lady (Broadway)
Sound of Music (Broadway)

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Van Halen - 1984
AC/DC - Back in Black
The Cars - Heartbeat City
Queensryche - Empire
Led Zeppelin II

Through the years, the albums that have received the most play time for me have been:

The Beatles - White Album
The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Lowell George - Thanks I'll Eat It Here
Little Feat - Dixie Chicken
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Carole King - Tapesty
Counting Crows - August and Everything After
Prince - Purple Rain
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Green Day - American Idiot

Wow, that's REALLY hard...

In no particular order...

Springsteen, Born to Run
Breaking Benjamin, We Are Not Alone
Sevendust, Seasons
Shinedown, Us and Them
Shinedown, Leave a Whisper
KoRn, See You On the Other Side
Bob Marley, Legends
Alice In Chains, Facelift

I'm stopping now, because it's like a 20 way tie from this point on. Needless to say I'm missing a lot of great bands--Aerosmith, Queen, Staind, Seether, Big Wreck, Hall & Oates, the list goes on. I've got well over 1000 CD's, and the ones listed above are by far the ones I listen to the most. Im' on my third copy of Leave a Whisper.

The Sugarcubes - Lifes too Good
Guns and Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Souixie and the Banshees - Peepshow
Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Michael Jackson - Thriller
Metallica - And Justice for All

Trying to think of some 2006 albums to list, but can't think of any off hand. Keane is pretty good though.

My own odd list, in no particular order;

ABC- The Lexicon Of Love
Alarm - Declaration
Meatloaf - Bat Out Of Hell
The Replacements - Pleased To Meet Me
They Might Be Giants - Flood
Weird Al - Running With Scissors
Ramones - Ramones
No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom
The D1ckies - Stukas Over Disneyland
The (English) Beat - I Just Can't Stop It

1 Electric Light Orchestra "Out of the Blue"
2 Donald Fagen "the Nightfly"
3 Steely Dan "Aja" (actually any album by Steely Dan)
4 Elvis "Aloha from Hawaii"
5 Gerry Rafferty "City to City"
6 Alan Parsons' Project "I Robot"
7 Don Williams "Greatest Hits"
8 Paul Overstreet "Sowin' Love"
9 The Cars "Cars"
10 Abba "Greatest Hits" (don't laugh)

I can't do this, I'm too indecisive, but here are some albums that I love:

Marillion's Misplaced Childhood
The Jesus and Mary Chain's Darklands
Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited
Billy Bragg's Talking with the Taxman about Poetry
The Beatles' White Album
REM's Lifes Rich Pageant

And this is kind of cheating, I suppose, but I really love the soundtrack to Austin Powers. :)
