Like Mother, Like Daughter - I've Turned Her Into a Disney Freak!

You're not a meanie - there's nothing wrong with getting enjoyment from boys making fools of themselves in front of us girls!

Just want to know - would it be wrong to lock my daughter in a closet until she's 30?

Hey, at least I'm a STAR!

It doesn't work they eventually escape;)

Here's a pic of my 2:

girls.jpg

Oldest is below youngest

Your daughters are beautiful, Theresa! Are they both done with the high school years; and how they heck did you survive it? I start to get a stomache when DD tells me about classmates who are already dating! And this is only middle school!

(I'm thinking if I got a really, really strong lock she wouldn't be able to escape!)

Another day complete; another night crawling into bed after midnight! I'm starting to think I'm too old for this! Nah - it's the heat!

Once again, I arrange for a wake-up call at 7a.m. Once again, I answer it; listen to Stitch tell me it's time to "Wakey-wakey!"; hang up and go back to sleep. So much for my plan to get to DHS for rope drop!

We don't sleep in too much longer though. After breakfast of coffee for me (soooo glad I shipped my Dunkin Donuts coffee!) and cereal and juice for DD, we were out the door to catch the bus to the newly-named Studios. It's almost 10:00 a.m.

We arrive at DHS and head right over to Toy Story Mania. It's PM EMH at the Studios today and I'm not sure how much we'll be able to do. Our game plan today: ride TSM as much as possible; maybe catch a Beauty & the Beast show; Muppets 3D; Indiana Jones show; Backlot Tour; Great Movie Ride. They'll be no going on RnRC or ToT. I'm too much of a wimp and DD will only do ToT with my brother - something about her feeling safer w/him; yeah, whatever -- I only carried her around for nine months inside of me and she turned out just fine! I'm just saying! :rolleyes1

We get over to Pixar Place - it's so cute back here!

DSC02707.jpg

The green Army men were out in full force! This guy stood behind a woman while she was on her cell phone. I swear, minutes went by before she even realized he was behind her - the whole crowd was watching and laughing!
DSC02701.jpg

The stand-by wait time posted was 45 minutes. Usually I don't like to wait this long for a ride but we figured this wait was just going to get worse as the day went on so we decided to jump on. But first, we grabbed FPs to ride later also.

It's a really cute queue; and thank goodness it's all inside because a). it was already sweltering hot outside; and b). 45 minute wait, my foot! Try more like 75 minutes! How could they be so off? So yeah, with all that time to kill, I took some pix:

DSC02702.jpg

DSC02703.jpg

DSC02704.jpg

As you got closer to the front of line, Mr. Potato Head was there to entertain the crowd. This was pretty amazing -- at one point, he pulls out his ears and puts them back in! But, seriously, after waiting there for awhile, we started hearing the same routine over and over again and it just got annoying!

DSC02705.jpg

DSC02706.jpg

Finally, it was our turn to ride!
DSC02710.jpg

I can't say enough about this ride - it's awesome! There's so much going on; it's amazing. We were just grinning ear-to-ear after riding it. We were so glad to have FPs to come back again!

We then headed over to the Great Movie Ride; I haven't done this one in years. It was cute. By this time, it's a little after noon and there was an Indiana Jones show starting at 12:30 so we decided to head over and see if we could get in. As we approached, I saw a huge line outside; I told DD there was no way I wanted to stand in it - it was right out in the sun! Well, come to find out that the 12:30 show is already full and this line is for the 1:45pm show!!!! Ummm - looks like we WILL NOT be seeing this today!

Now we're feeling some pangs of hunger so we went into the ABC Commisary. DD got her usual - chicken fingers and fries. Since we had dinner ADRs at Yachtsman tonite, I didn't want to have too big of a lunch so I ordered the kid's hamburger. YUCK! It was dry and burnt and just gross! DD didn't feel too fulfilled with her meal either. I've realized on this trip that my little girl is no longer satisfied with the kids' meal portions. So to make up for the lackluster lunch, I suggested we peek into the Tune In Lounge and see if we could grab two seats at the bar. We were in luck - believe it or not, the bar was pretty empty! Both of us ordered some pick-me-ups.

After feeling cool and refreshed, we headed back out to deal with the heat and crowds. And, boy was it crowded! We still had 20 minutes until our FP for TSM so we tried to get on the Backlot Tour; no go - 50 minute wait. So we justs killed some time walking through the streets of America and then headed back to Pixar Place to ride TSM for the second time. Again, we grabbed FPs for later. It was now 2pm and these FPs couldn't be used until after 7:15 pm; the stand by wait is now 120 minutes!!!!

As we got out of TSM, the skies opened up and it just started to pour! We put on our ponchos and, at first, didn't mind walking around in the rain. But the rain got heavier and walking just became more unbearable. It was at this point that we decided to head into some shops and then head over to the BW. I also finally decided to ditch our old yellow Disney ponchos that I have been carting back and forth for years. I broke down and bought the new, more-modern clear ones. DD was thrilled to now have an adult-size poncho!

DD picked up a t-shirt for her best friend and a key chain for her sister. We braved the rain and headed down to the dock to catch the boat over to the BW. When we got there, we were greeted by the Captain who told us that they were given instructions not to take the boat out because there was lightning in the area. He suggested we head over to the bus stop - busses were being added to take guests back to the BW area. Honestly, we didn't feel like walking back so we just decided to sit and wait for the boat to get permission to leave. We sat for about 20 minutes; the crew kept encouraging all of us to head over to the buses; but I just knew - the moment that I would decide to get up and leave the boat, the boat would get clearance to go. Nope, boat transportation was what we chose and we were sticking with it! Finally, we were good to go! Took some shots from the boat:

DSC02713.jpg

We still had about an hour and a half to kill before our dinner ADRs so we browsed a little in the shops on the BW and then decided to walk over to Epcot and browse around WS. Gotta love the park hopper!

Of course, we can't be in WS w/out getting DD a pretzel in Germany - so that's where we headed:
DSC02720.jpg

The sky was still not looking too promising:
DSC02718.jpg

We also came across the draw bridge being up. I never knew this was there!
DSC02721.jpg

The draw bridge goes up and they bring out the barges for Illuminations. Been going to Disney for ten years now and I'm always learning something new!

After our quick trip around the countries, it was time to head back to the Yacht Club for dinner. The skies were looking a little better on the way back:

Next up - dinner at The Yachtsman and prime seating for Fantasmic!:wizard:

I think they are pretty too...thanks!!

Oldest is an incoming junior and youngest is a 7th grader. Youngest thinks boys are ookie and Oldest has had a total of 2 and 1/2 boyfriends:rotfl: The boys give Cassidy the double take but for some reason her chest scares them off (she's a DD):rotfl: Much better than a lock!!:rotfl2:

I love the pics from TSM....I can't wait to "hear" about the Yachtsman....Cassidy is planning her graduation trip to the World. I raised her right:thumbsup2

I think we may have to drap Ellen into Epcot on the 8th just to get her to try one!

::yes:: That sounds good...but have to see if I end up getting that AP or not. Could be an expensive slushie!:scared1: :rotfl:

Great update Cammie! Isn't the rain crazy there? One minute it's pouring - pretty much every afternoon in June, someone told me - then the next the sun is shining and the steam is rising. :cool1: Your refreshments looked really good. You're lucky to have a FP for TSM. They don't have them at DL yet, but we did get to ride and loved it!!! :thumbsup2 Can't wait for more!

Babytrees: Your daughters are beautiful - I think you should look for a new lock :rotfl2: Actually around here, as the mom of boys, I felt like the girls were the predators, and I wanted to lock the boys up - boys are kind of stupid - they just go along with whatever happens - I think the girls are the ones with the plans! :rotfl:

Cammie - LOVE the pics of BW, makes me kinda sad that we can't stay there next trip. Can't wait to hear about Yachtsman, we're trying it for the first time in Nov.

Somehow I dismissed TSM as something DH & I wouldn't be interested in but you've got me re-thinking this one.

Cammie - you've got me so excited for TSM!!! It'll be hard for Ally and I to do it in Nov, cause of Super Soap Weekend, but I guess if we get there at rope drop we can probably get it in, then hit TOT, then head wherever we want to after that! That's the nice thing about having passes, we don't have to try to see an ENTIRE park in one visit. In fact, the only thing she keeps talking about is EE at AK - she wants to ride it like 5 times! Crazy kid!

DD just looks so happy in all your pics - I'm so glad you were able to make this trip!

Great TR :thumbsup2
I showed my DD-10 pictures of your DD and she loved the hair. She wants it done when we go in December.
She is in love with Joe Jonas and for her birthday, I took her to their concert in Louisville. We spent the night in Louisville and had such a good time.
I also have a DS - 7 and he wants to go to a Chris Brown concert so it will be even.
You and your DD look like you are having such a great time.
Looking forward to more updates:)
Amy

Great update! Love the TSM pictures - sure does look like a fun ride! Glad you were able to ride twice.

We discovered the draw bridge on our last trip too - always something new to discover!

Looking forward to reading about your dinner.

My youngest is going into 7th - while I think she's still a little nervous to "date", she is certainly noticing them now. She's had a crush on a neighbor for a year now - so cute to see her blush when he's around. And did you say "DD"? :faint: Good luck!

Yes, DD thinks every significant life event should be celebrated with a trip to WDW. Can't argue with that really!

::yes:: That sounds good...but have to see if I end up getting that AP or not. Could be an expensive slushie!:scared1: :rotfl:

Oh - I'm sure we could find some slushy and delicious drink at the ESPN Zone. But if you seriously think you'll be back to Disney twice in one year, I would highly recommend the AP.

loving your TR. Sounds like so much fun. Subscribing.

Thanks - glad you're enjoying it! It was alot of fun -- as usual!

I can't believe they don't have FP for TSM in Disneyland! Isn't it new there too? How bad are the lines? As for the weather, we really didn't get "quick" showers - they seemed to last around 2 hours w/thunder and lightning. But it did cool things off.

Yachtsman was fabulous - you'll love it! As for TSM - it's certainly a must-do! All I can say is it's just FUN!!!

One thing I had heard about SSW is that while there are big crowds at DHS during the day, they're all mostly at the Soap events, leaving the rides with minimal waits. It might be the ideal time to check it out.

Great TR :thumbsup2

The hair-do, I think, is now officially added to our list of "Things to Do on Our First Day at WDW" It was easy-peasy for the rest of the week!:thumbsup2

My DD is also a huge Jonas Bros. fan - but she likes Nick.(Personally, I think Joe is the cutest also); anyway, I'm taking her to their concert in August. We saw Hannah's concert in Dec and I must admit I enjoyed it. I think alot of my enjoyment comes from seeing how much my DD is loving it. It's just so nice to share these times with them, isn't it?

Great update! Love the TSM pictures - sure does look like a fun ride! Glad you were able to ride twice.

We discovered the draw bridge on our last trip too - always something new to discover!

Looking forward to reading about your dinner.

TSM was great! As for the draw bridge - who knew? DD and I came upon it and we both thought "what the heck is going on?" I guess I now know why that area has alot of dead space. We always wondered why they didn't have some more booths or kiosks over there - now we know!

We saw the draw bridge too. It was fun to sit and watch them set up for illuminations. It is quite the production.

We checked in for our 5:30 dinner ADRs at the Yachtsman. It was only 5:20 and they were not yet open for business; so we headed into the Crews Cup Lounge to wait. Of course, I ordered a cocktail.

The Pomegranate Cosmo......
DSC02722.jpg

At precisely 5:30, our buzzer went off. WooHoo! Off we went to be seated.

This restaurant immediately scored points with me if only for the fact that they made a big deal we were celebrating my birthday. If you remember, I was convinced by a CM from DisneyDining that she must note on my ADRs that we were celebrating my birthday - even though it was still 3 weeks away. But up until now, most of the restaurants had ignored the fact. And I certainly wasn't going to mention it either; afterall, once you turn 40, you really don't care that much about birthdays!

The hostess greeted me with a big Happy Birthday wish and presented me with my birthday button. We were taken to our table - which was right up at the window; very pretty - we were overlooking SAB. Our server Mark came right over with my personalized menu - so cute!

DSC02723.jpg

DSC02724.jpg

DD was green with envy! Her exact words: "It's totally NOT FAIR you get to celebrate your birthday at Disney! How come I can't have my birthday at Disney?" (little does she know - but it's in the works!; more on that later)

So we got down to the business of ordering. For an appetizer, I got the Assortment of Artisan Cheese:
DSC02726.jpg

I'm sorry to say I don't remember all of the cheeses; one was a blue cheese - which I didn't touch. Not a fan at all. The other three were very good. We also got a basket of bread w/butter and some roasted garlic. Now, this I love! The garlic spread just like butter - it was so good! I limited myself to just one piece of bread though because I knew we had big steaks coming.

For dinner, DD really wanted an adult portion and I don't blame her. I need to accept the fact that she's growing and deserves more food! Mark kindly offered to give her a smaller cut of the filet; so she got the 6oz. filet mignon w/mashed potatoes and a red wine sauce (light on the sauce). She LOVED it!
DSC02728.jpg

I ordered the Oak-Fired Rib-Eye w/horseradish mashed potatoes and red wine butter. Sooooo good and cooked perfectly!
DSC02727.jpg

DD had no problem polishing hers off; I finished MOST of mine; it was a big honkin' piece of meat and I needed to leave room for dessert! Before we could order our desserts though, I was bought a birthday card signed by Mickey and friends and a special birthday dessert, complete with birthday candle......
DSC02729-1.jpg

DSC02730.jpg

Speaking of dessert, one of the main reasons I had booked this restaurant is because DD had seen, on the food porn thread, that this restaurant had the Mickey White Choc.puzzle. She had gotten this years ago from room service when we stayed at the BC and still remembers it to this day. So sure enough, it was what she was getting.....
DSC02731.jpg

For my real dessert, I ordered the Strawberries Grand Marnier, w/berries, vanilla ice cream & served over lemon shortbread......
DSC02732.jpg

Yes, it was as good as it looked!

We were done with our dinner by 7pm. As luck would have it, there was a boat waiting at the dock to take us back to DHS for pm EMH. Once we got back into the park, we headed right over to the Backlot Tours - only a 10 minute wait - cool! I think this ride is neat - just too short. Love Catastrophe Canyon! Took a few pix.......

After the ride, we walked the movie memorabilla room. We love the POTC movies; got a pic of DD in front of Davey Jone's organ from the 2nd movie.....
DSC02740.jpg

After this, it was time to cash in our FP for Toy Story Mania. It was our third time riding it for the day; I had won once and DD had won once - this was the tie-breaker. DD beat me (I let her; that's my story and I'm sticking with it!) Again, this is such a FUN ride! We then went over to Muppetvision 3-D - adorable as ever! I love to hear the little kids hysterical laughter during this - so cute.

It was time to head over to the second showing of Fantasmic. This is DD's favorite show in all of Disney and we haven't seen it in two years. She was very excitied. It was also the first time we were seeing it w/out having to sit in wheelchair seating, so I was hoping to get up closer. Man, did we ever! Third row, front and center baby! We were psyched with our seats! And what you read on the DisBoards is true - the 2nd show is soooo much less crowded than the first. If you have a choice between the two, definitely do the second! About five minutes before showtime, it started to drizzle. But we coped - had our ponchos, put them on, sat in the rain, and enjoyed our prime seating! Here are a few pix:

I definitely enjoy sitting up closer for this show; you can see alot more. I'm so glad we got to see it and the rain didn't play too much of a factor.

By the time we got out of the theater, it was almost 11:30pm. We thought we'd try to get on TSM one more time (I needed to avenge my last defeat). But the lines were still crazy over there. Stand by wait time was 90 minutes! Don't think so! We were done for the night. Made quick stop to get the usual pic in front of the hat.....
DSC02764.jpg

DSC02765.jpg

Yeah, the photopass photog. didn't do such a good job with my camera; fortunately there's a decent one on the photopass site. Just don't know why we didn't take those darn ponchos off for the pic!

Next installment.......the last FULL day of our trip - AK, thunderstorms, and Illuminations - YEA!

Looks like Yachtsman was great, can't wait to try it in November. Great pics of Fantasmic, that's something else we've never done, and don't have it scheduled for our next trip either, maybe 2009.......:cool1:

Great update, Cammie! I just realized that I haven't seen Fantasmic in 10 years! I can hardly wait to see it again. BTW, I'm not sure, did you really like TSM or not? :rotfl2:

I can't believe they don't have FP for TSM in Disneyland! Isn't it new there too? How bad are the lines? As for the weather, we really didn't get "quick" showers - they seemed to last around 2 hours w/thunder and lightning. But it did cool things off.

Yes, it opened June 17! I read about 5 hr lines, but the day we went it was 40 min stand-by on a Wed, so we figured it wouldn't get any better. We really only waited 20 min, and the line moved really fast when it moved, so it felt like we were getting somewhere. We didn't have any large toys or anything to look at. I wonder if they'll re-theme the queu anytime soon?

TSM was great! As for the draw bridge - who knew? DD and I came upon it and we both thought "what the heck is going on?" I guess I now know why that area has alot of dead space. We always wondered why they didn't have some more booths or kiosks over there - now we know!

That's funny you haven't seen it before - we got stopped there two times that we've been there - trying to get past Mexico, and then WTH???
