Lightspeed ahead to a healthier you! April 2016 WISH challenge... all are welcome!

Took me about a week to post - I have NO time! But I'm sitting down for a minute to start and try to make time for myself!

Apple or Orange
like them both - cant decide

Rule Follower or Rule Breaker: follower

Black or Brown: brown

Star War original Triology or the Prequil(s): trilogy

Disneyland or Walt Disney World: World, only been to land once but LOVED it too

Summer or Fall: Fall in the south, summers in Canada!

Ocean or Mountains: both!

Bookworm or TV junkie: tv junkie

Extrovert or Introvert: introvert

Trail Blazer or Trail Follower: how about don't care what others are doing :)

Coffee or Tea: iced coffees

M&Ms or licorice: M&M's!

R2D2 or BB-8: both great, BB-8 was a little funnier though.

Spender or Saver: mostly a saver

Cat or Dog: no question - dog

Soup or Sandwich: sandwich

Well - today I think I finally got focused. Got out the journal to write down things, that really helps me. I'm going to Duran Duran tonight with my BFF since junior high (I'm well past that now)! Can't wait! I need to eat dinner before I go so at least I don;t have that to worry about. I managed to squeeze in my workout this morning but probabaly not tomorrow - too many appointments etc! Ok gotta go get kids off to the next thing!!!!!!!!!

Asking for some Pixie Dust, friends. I applied for a PT job at our local Disney Store yesterday and I WANT IT. It's nothing fancy, but it's a little extra income, and most importantly it makes me a Disney Cast Member.:love::love: Makes trips to the World (and the Land!) soooo much more feasible!

pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: Good luck hope you get this one!

although I do like orange juice (as long as there is no pulp).

I right there with you on this.

Ok have to dash - shower and out the door!

Things I have learned about people:
- We all love the original Star Wars movies
- The majority prefer WDW to DL (mostly due to not being able to compare the two)
- Apples >>> Oranges
- We seem split on Soup and Sammich. The Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup option at the Jolly Holiday Cafe in disneyland would satisfy both! :)

I am having a hard time getting a good work out in tonight. I think I over did it yesterday. However I think I just found my motivation. I just found dead out (through facebook) that my grandma had stints put in today and will be in the hospital over night. After my brother and I quizzed my dad over text they have know for a week. I am so mad that we weren't told. Instead of eating I am going to push harder in my workout. Ugh. I am just so mad.

@piglet1979 - I am so sorry that you're having personal family problems and were the last to find out. However, It makes me happy to know that you're going to channel that frustration into positive actions.

Don't eat your feelings. Go for a walk with music instead! :)

Thank you. My dad never tells us stuff. Having divorced parents means it is on him to tell us. He just doesn't think about that. It has been going on since I was a kid. Still makes me mad though.

Welcome to your QOTD for Tuesday April 19, 2016:

Stepping slightly away from our SW theme today.....

Apple or Orange... Apple

Rule Follower or Rule Breaker... Or

Black or Brown... Black

Star War original Triology or the Prequil(s)... Original. I'm a Han gal from way back. I once stood in line all day for a back-to-back-back showing of the original three films, then slept thru the second half of 2 and all of 3. The only newer film I've seen is the current one because Han was in it. Dang it.

Disneyland or Walt Disney World... Disney Wirkd, about 35 times.

Summer or Fall... fall

Ocean or Mountains... Ocean, although I'm spoiled to have both so close by.

Bookworm or TV junkie... I love books but I'm too busy vegging out on TV to read them.

Extrovert or Introvert.... Or

Trail Blazer or Trail Follower... Or

Coffee or Tea... Chai tea any day anywhere

M&Ms or licorice... Licorice

R2D2 or BB-8... R2D2

Spender or Saver... Spender, big time

Cat or Dog... I have two kitty children, would love a dog but just don't have the time.

Soup or Sandwich... Sandwich

Glad it's not only me. At least you don't like Ice Cream - it's my weakness and I have to do my best to stay on target!

Unfortunately I do love ice cream! Way more than is necessary. I just don't do dairy when it is hot. Hoping the expected 90 degree plus temperatures in Orlando next week don't keep me from the croque glacée and the macaron ice cream sandwich.

I also have to drink a glass of water before each meal and that wait for 30 minutes after eating before drinking again - the theory being that drinking too much during or straight after the meal pushes it through quicker and then we feel hungry again :confused3

This is really fascinating. I can't wait to hear whether you think it seems to work.

Pixie dust sprinkled! Fingers and toes crossed!

me. I'm going to Duran Duran tonight with my BFF since junior high (I'm well past that now)! Can't wait!

That sounds like so much fun! Totally jealous now!!

I'm so sorry. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your grandma! And more information for you.

Stepping slightly away from our SW theme today.....

This makes me realize how much of a lawyer I am at heart. It depends it depends it depends....

Apple or Orange - Apple but only if it is a Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. Then an orange but only if it is a cara cara, a blood orange, or a clementine. Next up would be Fuji apples and a few of our local apples. If none of the above, I'll take almost any fruit other than an apple or an orange. And I'd rather eat dirt than a red delicious apple.

Rule Follower or Rule Breaker - I'm absolutely a rule follower. But I'll find every exception, loophole, and caveat that exists. And I may try to change the rules. Or pretend I just didn't see them. Fine. I'm a rule breaker.

Black or Brown - I prefer black. But if we are talking clothes, it makes me look like a corpse so I reluctantly choose brown.

Star War original Triology or the Prequil(s) - yawn. I've got to confess, I'm so not into Star Wars. So I choose a nap.

Disneyland or Walt Disney World - Disneyland. Over and over again. I could write a 90 page treatise about how much more awesome Disneyland is than Disney World. If the PeopleMover and Boma existed in any other park, I would never step foot in Florida again. But I am looking forward to my trip there next week all the same. :)

Summer or Fall - Fall

Ocean or Mountains - Mountains

Bookworm or TV junkie - I'm a TV junkie but I also read a book a week.

Extrovert or Introvert - Introvert. I can pretend to be an extrovert but I'm about as introverted as they come. Not a single "E" answer when I last did Myers-Briggs

Trail Blazer or Trail Follower - Trail Meanderer

Coffee or Tea - Tea

M&Ms or licorice - Sour Patch Kids

R2D2 or BB-8 - Penguins

Spender or Saver - Hmm. I save so I can spend. And I'm both really cheap and really extravagant.

Cat or Dog - One of each. I'm more of a dog person but my cat is my one true love. On the other hand, my dog puts up with me when I make her pose with my Minnie ears. I have no idea how to answer this.

Soup or Sandwich - Soup but only homemade. Also, I really like sandwiches. So soup & sandwich!

This so much! Give me EPCOT in California and I'd be okay with never going to Florida. I am actually FROM Florida and I don't want to go back to my home state. :rotfl:

Good morning and welcome to your QOTD for Wednesday, April 20, 2016:

Are you ready for this??

Share your biggest WOOHOO moment(s) of the past week!!

Hi friends! I had so much fun scrolling through all of your answers to yesterday's QOTD!! What a fun way to get to know more about ALL of you!!

I'm dashing away again this morning to work.... this baloney of having three jobs (subbing, my WW meeting AND the 24/7 chat job) is kicking my behind lately! Throw in weekends full of robotics and college visits and I am really feeling like I am lagging behind in many parts of life.... including keeping up with you all here! I'll have time tonight to chat a bit though! Keep each other company until then!.....................P

Hello everyone!

I loved reading everyone's answers yesterday! It was interesting how some people answered quite differently as to what I would have thought on the more "meaningful" questions. So, a good way to get to know everyone a little better!

Yesterday evening I had the leftovers from Saturday for dinner, it was an eggplant stew. The last time I made it, I served it with couscous which was delicious. This time I decided that instead of adding some carbs, I would just put more of the feta on top that the recipe called for. So, had a nice amount of feta on a large amount of stewed veggies and loved it! It was really filling and I absolutely enjoyed indulging in so much cheese. All in all dinner was 400 kcal. I will try to put the recipe for the stew on the recipe thread in the coming days!

@pjlla THREE jobs sound like a lot of work!! I seem to remember that in the past you had far less days of subbing, but it seems like now this is a full time job for you. Hope you will get a little bit of relaxation time during summer vacation. Or did you sign up for the maintenance job again. You mentioned that a few weeks ago...

@piglet1979 Hope your grandmother is feeling better soon! So sorry that nobody told you earlier! You also posted about the fitbit tracking your 250 steps per hour and I really liked that and tried to figure out why I had not seen this. It turns out that it is not available for the One! Such a shame! I refuse to wear a tracker that is visible, so wrist ones just don't work for me...

@bigsis1970 I hope the house was as great as you hoped and that you were able to put in an offer that will be accepted!

QOTD:

Two woohoos for today already:

First, I saw a new lowest number of the year on the scale! The frustrating thing is that I was quite below this weight in December already... At least I know that part of my weight gain in January was actually my hormones being crazy and not just me being stupid. So, I am just looking at what I have acchieved in the past as a motivation as to what I am able to reach!

Second, just had a healthy lunch with a newish friend outside in the sunshine and she told me about her new boyfriend and how happy they are! So, great lunch, great weather, great company and great news - what more could one want?

My woohoo this week is that last night I thought I was going to have a bad workout and just get my 10,000 steps. Instead I got 15,367 steps, over 5 miles and hit the calorie count on fitbit. I am so excited. I was able to make all the lines green yesterday. It was a goal this week and I hit it. I am also down .4 pounds so far this week. I am sure it would be more but I had chips and salsa last night. I will not be eating that Thursday night before my official weigh in.

Sorry that the pic. is so big. I am new this. Still trying to figure it out.

Hey, you did not log your sleep!! ;)

Just kidding! Great acchievement!! Hitting all goals is always amazing and a great motivation, especially on days when you thought you would not succeed! Well done!

Woohoo Wednesday!

I'm going to ignore the fact that the scale went up a whole pound this morning despite the fact that I didn't eat anything "bad". I averaged 1,400 calories over the past two days (I'm normally in the 13's), averaged 27,000 steps, and had my best elliptical workout yet yesterday. It's not really the fact that I went up because the scale does strange things, it's the fact that it puts me about two days behind the goal I made to be in the 250's by May. But like I said, I'm just going to ignore all of that. ;)

My woohoo is my first outdoor practice 5k run that I did last Saturday. My goal for my first 5k in May is to get under 40:00. On my practice run I learned a lot. I knew I was in trouble when the voice came on and told me I finished my first mile at 12:11 - I started too fast and I felt it during mile 2. Overall I felt that the outdoor run was a little tougher than the treadmill runs I've been doing, but I was able to finish w/o walking at 39:53. I was really happy about that. Looking forward to the next practice run this Saturday - hopefully I can pace myself a little better.

I also had someone at work ask me if I had been losing weight this morning which was nice. She told me she could definitely tell and great job. That was pretty nice to hear.

Oh goodness. I love me some Woohoo Wednesday! Let's see...

1. I'm done with choir for the semester! I'm in a community choir that's tied through a university here so it's technically a "class" and we just had our last performance which means I have like 4 months off! I love choir but losing a day of at-home time is hard and it means that I basically have a mandatory rest day which I don't love.
2. I have lost weight this week so I'm hoping that number continues to go down!
3. I started my new job this week and I'm already in LOVE! I actually love coming into work these days.

4. This is the biggest...we've officially decided that we're doing a DL trip in December instead of WDW! This would have been our fourth year in a row and with prices going up and attraction offerings going down, I was just afraid that it wouldn't be as magical as I wanted. So we put down a deposit on a vacation package to make it official (I've waffled on DL vacations before). YAY!

My woo-hoos are vacation related.
This week we went under 60 days! So excited. It doesn't mean anything since we aren't staying on property, but it's a big day in the countdown anyway.

I also took more planning steps - reserving our rental cars, and sending in payment for Disney tickets.

Finally, and this is a silly woo-hoo- I found a really pretty lanyard at SteinMart to use for our trip. I like lanyards, and they are so handy on cruises and at Universal (and Disney too since we don't have magic bands). I'd never seen one like it; it looks like a necklace more than a lanyard. Of course I came home and googled them and saw them all over amazon- but it's a new concept to me!

Well done!! Running 5km is a great acchievement and a time under 40 minutes in a training run is fantastic! Pacing yourself outside when you are used to a treadmill can be a challenge at first. Do you have a heart rate monitor? I used to run with one for years and found it really helpful to keep myself from starting out to fast.

I also had someone at work ask me if I had been losing weight this morning which was nice. She told me she could definitely tell and great job. That was pretty nice to hear.

Congratulations!! This is really huge! People usually are so hesitant to comment on someone's weightloss because they are afraid that the other person has not really lost anything and then will be offended that they were remembered to be even fatter. So, once people at work say something, the difference must be quite obvious! And from the picture you posted, I can tell that you indeed look much thinner! I like it that you put the Easter picture into your avatar now! Looks great there!

Yay indeed!! I wonder whether all of us yesterday posting that they preferred Disneyland helped you make this decision? ;) I think Disneyland is wonderful and an amazing place! I am sure you will love it! Where are you going to stay?

Oh!!! I love this!! At work I have a very stupid large "electronic" key and I often wear skirts without pockets. So, I have my key on a lanyard. I got a great lanyard at Universal some time ago with the Gryffindor colors (looks like a tie) and then replaced it with one in the Ravenclaw colors three years later. But somthing like this would be just perfect!! What term did you use to google it? I would be very tempted to some for work!! I could even coordinate them with my outfits!! :thumbsup2

Hi Gang! my:woohoo: WOO HOOO:woohoo: Wednesday is that we really really liked the inside of the home.. it is very well kept (few kitty scratches on the door frames - but we have a kitty so not a big deal to us) so we put in a bid:jumping1:!!!!!!!! we offered full price if the seller would put some $ down at closing and would have the septic pumped.. I hope they accept.. they have till Friday at 5pm .. my stomach is a HUGE KNOT!:crazy2::crazy2: if it all plays out like it should by Memorial day weekend we will be new homeowners on our land! :dancer::banana::dancer::banana:no more park life for us (even though it is not at all hard for us to play by the rules there, we do like our park) :thanks: all for listening to me for the past month or so.. I appreciate all of you! I feel like I've been a :crazy:lady this whole time!

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!!! Michelle
