Lightspeed ahead to a healthier you! April 2016 WISH challenge... all are welcome!

hi all, I have been little quiet! no loss last week but I am getting my motivation on and really upped my effort this week

Woo hoo of the day - I think something clicked last Monday. I got the momentum I needed to get my head in the right space.

Good morning and welcome to your QOTD for Wednesday, April 20, 2016:

Are you ready for this??

Share your biggest WOOHOO moment(s) of the past week!!
Woohoo... Yesterday I had about 10 minutes to eat lunch, so I ran down to the lunchroom and grabbed some mac-and-cheese (once I saw it on the menu there was no turning back) with some bacon jam (who thinks up these things?) and this morning I was down a pound, with my lightest weight so far displaying on the scale. 2 more pounds and I'll be at my adjusted April goal of being in the 180's.

My new purple Magic Band has arrived.

I've gotten my 12,000 steps in each day this week.

I'm getting my hair done tomorrow... I wasn't minding that it had faded so light (almost to my natural white) until The gal at the nursery asked me if I was buying pumpkin seeds for my grandkids (what????) and a gal at the store I worked for asked if I was retired or still working (well, OK, if I could retire I would). Gotta get some color up there!

My WooHoo is that my daughter is coming home for the weekend this weekend! She'll be home for the summer in a few weeks anyway, but he's feeling the pressures of the end of the school year and I'm hoping that a little time away from campus will help her stress level.

Completely unrelated MFP question: I try to log my food daily on MFP (mainly using the website if that matters), but I'm far from perfect. Actually that might be one of my goals next month... But, right now, it's showing that I've logged for 65 days in a row. Unfortunately, that's very far from the truth lol. I'm thinking it might be because my apple watch is somehow linked to it and my steps get shown on there everyday. I do like that it syncs up, but is there anyway to not count that towards my days in a row? I feel guilty when people click like on the number of days I've tracked when it's not really true, but I don't know how to fix it.

Yay for your daughter coming home!

If you want you food info etc to feed to the Apple Watch but not steps go to more, scroll down to steps and select "don't track steps." If you want to disconnect them all together, go to more, apps and devices and disconnect from there. I don't know if this will get rid of your streak though. If you've logged into the website or app that many days I don't think it matters if your food log was complete or accurate.

Hello everyone!

I loved reading everyone's answers yesterday! It was interesting how some people answered quite differently as to what I would have thought on the more "meaningful" questions. So, a good way to get to know everyone a little better!

Yesterday evening I had the leftovers from Saturday for dinner, it was an eggplant stew. The last time I made it, I served it with couscous which was delicious. This time I decided that instead of adding some carbs, I would just put more of the feta on top that the recipe called for. So, had a nice amount of feta on a large amount of stewed veggies and loved it! It was really filling and I absolutely enjoyed indulging in so much cheese. All in all dinner was 400 kcal. I will try to put the recipe for the stew on the recipe thread in the coming days!

@pjlla THREE jobs sound like a lot of work!! I seem to remember that in the past you had far less days of subbing, but it seems like now this is a full time job for you. Hope you will get a little bit of relaxation time during summer vacation. Or did you sign up for the maintenance job again. You mentioned that a few weeks ago...

@piglet1979 Hope your grandmother is feeling better soon! So sorry that nobody told you earlier! You also posted about the fitbit tracking your 250 steps per hour and I really liked that and tried to figure out why I had not seen this. It turns out that it is not available for the One! Such a shame! I refuse to wear a tracker that is visible, so wrist ones just don't work for me...

@bigsis1970 I hope the house was as great as you hoped and that you were able to put in an offer that will be accepted!

QOTD:

Two woohoos for today already:

First, I saw a new lowest number of the year on the scale! The frustrating thing is that I was quite below this weight in December already... At least I know that part of my weight gain in January was actually my hormones being crazy and not just me being stupid. So, I am just looking at what I have acchieved in the past as a motivation as to what I am able to reach!

Second, just had a healthy lunch with a newish friend outside in the sunshine and she told me about her new boyfriend and how happy they are! So, great lunch, great weather, great company and great news - what more could one want?

Please do share the recipe.... and put it on the recipe thread as well.... that thread definitely could use some new blood!!

Thank you for your concern and for remembering my summer job.... and yes, I have agreed to work again this summer.... and will probably do more hours than last summer unless I end up with carpal tunnel syndrome from the painting (a true concern).

WOOHOO on the scale!!!

Hi Gang! my:woohoo: WOO HOOO:woohoo: Wednesday is that we really really liked the inside of the home.. it is very well kept (few kitty scratches on the door frames - but we have a kitty so not a big deal to us) so we put in a bid:jumping1:!!!!!!!! we offered full price if the seller would put some $ down at closing and would have the septic pumped.. I hope they accept.. they have till Friday at 5pm .. my stomach is a HUGE KNOT!:crazy2::crazy2: if it all plays out like it should by Memorial day weekend we will be new homeowners on our land! :dancer::banana::dancer::banana:no more park life for us (even though it is not at all hard for us to play by the rules there, we do like our park) :thanks: all for listening to me for the past month or so.. I appreciate all of you! I feel like I've been a :crazy:lady this whole time!

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!!! Michelle

Fingers and toes crossed, prayers and pixie dust going out!! .......................P

Hey friends!! I've been trying to post a few replies here all afternoon/evening, but 24/7 chat is super busy tonight and I literally cannot even finish a whole sentence at a time! I do see that SO MANY of you are really helping me by doing lots of read/replies...and I want you to know that I NOTICE and appreciate it! The give and take of conversation here and KNOWING that someone acknowledges our comments, complaints, and "woohoos" is so important! That is what keeps this group successful! So again, thank you for stepping in to support each other when your monthly coach is MIA!!

Now off to answer questions like "how many SmartPoints in a serving of tequila?" and "how do I find the SmartPoints for a serving of buffalo chicken wings?" and "what are SmartPoints?" . (Yup, I've had the question more than once!)......P

Share your biggest WOOHOO moment(s) of the past week!!

I received approval for my Global Entry - I drove 7 hours round trip today to get the last bits of paperwork done.

The facility was in Calexico, about 50 miles from Yuma and right on the Mexico border. (Keep in mind that I live near Disneyland - so look at a map!) It beat waiting until August or September for the Los Angeles airport :rotfl:

I haven't had much to WooHoo lately (not that everything has been bad, I've just been too busy), but here's a small one:
I'm skipping my run tomorrow ... and I'm okay with it. Usually I hate skipping runs ... I'll reschedule if the weather is terrible, but mostly I just want to get out and do it, even if I have a million reasons not to (including injury). But I did something to my knee on Sunday, and after running on it Tuesday and having pretty bad pain during and after the run, I decided to rest it for a few days. I've been doing enough walking lately that I don't need to aggravate it by running. So I'm taking the next few days off and trying again on Monday.
I thought that cancelling my run would make me really upset ... but I'm actually pretty happy with my decision. It's nice to be at peace with a decision that I thought I would hate.

My WooHoo for this week. I spent the afternoon finishing review sheets and final exam for one of my classes. I had finished the other class the other day and the second class today. I spent at least 3 hours on the computer cutting and pasting to get 2 review sheets, a final and a take home final done. I will copy them tomorrow when I go in for office hours.

We also finished the mermaid skirts for the local production of A Little Mermaid. The costumes are coming from a costume group but the director did no like the mermaid skirts. We saw them do a short number in them and they will look beautiful on stage.

Have a happy and healthy evening.

My woohoo is that I've got only two workdays left until vacation!!! The better news is that our IT department informed me that they are upgrading my laptop while I am away (that is never actually a good thing) but it does mean that I have to hand over the computer by 4:30 on Friday. So absolutely no last minute work over the weekend. Yay!!!

The scale is actually showing a bit of a loss for a change. Plus I'm spending a few days on my strict RA diet to make sure I'll be as ready as I can be for all the walking. That always gets rid of a few pounds of water weight so I think there is a chance I might hit my pre-trip goal weight. Well, not the pre-trip goal weight I set back in January, but the one I decided on at the beginning of the week. Extra incentive is the very pretty dress currently hanging in my closet that has been retrofitted to my exact dimensions and has absolutely no give or stretch. I'm terrified the heat and humidity is going to make me puff up like a balloon and I won't be able to zip it next week. I have it in my head that if I de-puff for the rest of this week, I'll have a little bit of breathing room for both water retention and Disney treats, the dress will fit, I'll hand what feels like my entire life savings to Victoria and Albert's, and I'll live happily ever after.

Hi all. 11pm and I finally have my minute to check in because I promised myself I'd start being better! I had an extra day off this week so thought I'd get so much stuff done. WRONG! Oh well.

My woohoo is probably just eating on plan today. Not perfect but way way better than I have been!

No workout today - too many appointments and going from one thing to the next. Not sure tomorrow will work either - ugh. DH is dealing w cough he's had for 6 weeks and now running fever so back to the doctor. I can't get sick!!

I'm so tired from being out late last night. Duran Duran - so much fun!! ok I literally was thinking "hmm there must be some other event going on nearby" because i was seeing all these "old people" walking around then realized oh thats me too! :rotfl2:. After talking to all the people around us we were all in our 40/50's! :dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer: But we all still had it going on!

Here's to another great day! :thumbsup2

Woo hoo of the day - I think something clicked last Monday. I got the momentum I needed to get my head in the right space.

Isn't it amazing how much of a difference it makes to get your head totally commited to what you are doing. The rest will then follow...

@Flossbolna - they would be great lanyards for work, much more elegant! I googled "necklace lanyard" and they all came up!

Thanks! I looked around and see that are plenty!! I think I will get one as a treat when I reach a certain weight goal...

My new purple Magic Band has arrived.

Yay!! When I read your post I thought, that of course you would get a purple Magic Band because you are the "purple poster". Your avatar has a slight purple tint and especially when I look at the board on my phone, your avatar appears to be a purple box... That's why I always thought unconciously that purple is your color... I do realise that you did not choose the picture for its color, but it is funny how two unrelated things get mashed up in my brain.

My woohoo is that I started running again! My last race was over 2 years ago and I just decided to start again now instead of waiting till I get to a weight that I am more comfortable in. I did 2.5 miles and only walked once!

Well done!! As long as you take care to avoid injury, this is great! It is always important to have an exercise you enjoy and if you want to run, you should!

My WooHoo is that my daughter is coming home for the weekend this weekend! She'll be home for the summer in a few weeks anyway, but he's feeling the pressures of the end of the school year and I'm hoping that a little time away from campus will help her stress level.

Ah, I remember those times when I would flee to my parents for a weekend... :goodvibes

Please do share the recipe.... and put it on the recipe thread as well.... that thread definitely could use some new blood!!

Will try to get it up tonight!

Thank you for your concern and for remembering my summer job.... and yes, I have agreed to work again this summer.... and will probably do more hours than last summer unless I end up with carpal tunnel syndrome from the painting (a true concern).

Wow!! You are really keeping busy. But hopefully this will give you a nice spending cushion for Disneyland!

Now off to answer questions like "how many SmartPoints in a serving of tequila?" and "how do I find the SmartPoints for a serving of buffalo chicken wings?" and "what are SmartPoints?" . (Yup, I've had the question more than once!)......P

Well, at least they are asking, so they are trying to make the program work. :goodvibes I have been at counting points or calories for such a long time that I rarely find a food that surprises me. However, a friend of mine who started a doctor lead weight loss programm last year kept telling me about all the interesting things he found out, like that beer had so many calories! The scary reality is that so many people have no idea what makes them fat.

Wow, this is quite a commitment! Which would you have to wait until August or September for LAX? Is it that difficult to get an appointment? I have been thinking about signing up for it since the international immigration lines are often attrocious. I sometimes had to wait over an hour at immigration. But for me it is an even more complicated process as I need to be pre-screened here and then need to have an appointment in the US. So, I am not sure if it is really worth the hassle since I am not travelling to the US more than once a year anyway...

I thought that cancelling my run would make me really upset ... but I'm actually pretty happy with my decision. It's nice to be at peace with a decision that I thought I would hate.

Hope you feel better soon. But it is great that you can accept your limitations and not beat yourself up about them!

We also finished the mermaid skirts for the local production of A Little Mermaid. The costumes are coming from a costume group but the director did no like the mermaid skirts. We saw them do a short number in them and they will look beautiful on stage.

Those sound wonderful! I hope you are going to post a picture of them as well. Your other production was so impressive!

My woohoo is that I've got only two workdays left until vacation!!! The better news is that our IT department informed me that they are upgrading my laptop while I am away (that is never actually a good thing) but it does mean that I have to hand over the computer by 4:30 on Friday. Have a fantastic trip!! And make sure that you get a backup of all your files before you hand over your laptop to the IT people!!

I hope you will tell us about your meal at V&A! I would so love to eat there, but our next trip will include a cruise again and we are going to eat at Remy on the Disney Fantasy and feel that it would be too much of a splurge to do both... Also Remy is "only" a charge of 85$ per person... So, it wins out in this regard.

When you posted about it, I got all nostalgic. But then I am 44, so right in that demographic! :rotfl2:

Good morning friends! I've been trying to post here for a while this morning but apparently there is a big app/technology glitch happening with WW at the moment and my 24/7 chat has been super busy this morning (usually early a.m. is pretty easy).

You ALL came up with so many great reasons to say WOOHOO!! I'm trying to "woohoo" this week, but for some reason I'm feeling "extra fluffy" and I have a great fear that tomorrow's scale number will make me

Courtney, I wasn't sure what that "global" thing you mentioned (I kind of figured it had to do with flying/TSA type thing), but I read Flossbolna's reply so it looks like I was right on. I'm kind of envious because that means you get to take lots of flying/travel adventures!! Wish I could afford to travel often enough to need that!

HappyGrape... I missed you during the last week or so.... you've been quiet! Glad to see a few more posts from you over the past few days!

Piglet1979..... I know I said "black or brown" but you picked pink.... I WOULD TOO!!

DisFam95..... did they sing Rio? I love that song! And yup.... I would have been that person looking around at all of the "old folks" and wondering why they were there!!

Ski_mom..... enjoy your time with DD home!! My DD has fleshed out her CRAZY BUSY summer schedule and she MAY be able to come home for just 2-3 days when the semester ends next month... that's it! :sad1: But I will definitely try to visit whenever possible (my schedule is flexible... she is the busy one!). So give your DD an extra hug for me!!

Hugs to those of you who are dealing with health issues, either your own or your parents or other loved ones. I've been through cancer diagnoses with BOTH of my parents and they both came out on the other side just great, so keep your chin up!

BTW, any Survivor fans on here who were absolutely GOB-SMACKED last night at Tribal Council??!!!:scared1:

Off to finish "chatting" and get dressed for the next job of the day! I'll post the QOTD while I eat breakfast!.....P

I hide my greys as well - I am resisting it as long as possible! Its amazing the assumptions people make based on looks though.

Now off to answer questions like "how many SmartPoints in a serving of tequila?"

Oh no I hope you get some good questions tonight .... clearly this was a very important question for this person lol.

I haven't had much to WooHoo lately (not that everything has been bad, I've just been too busy), but here's a small one:
I'm skipping my run tomorrow ... and I'm okay with it. Usually I hate skipping runs ... Sorry to hear you have an injury - good decision to rest it otherwise you might be out longer if you push it.

I'm so tired from being out late last night. Duran Duran - so much fun!! ok I literally was thinking "hmm there must be some other event going on nearby" because i was seeing all these "old people" walking around then realized oh thats me too! :rotfl2:. Here's to another great day! :thumbsup2

Glad you had a good time its fun hearing music live from 'our day' - isn't it funny when you realise we are the old people now! I wasn't a huge Duran Duran fan back in the day - I liked some of their songs. Not my like cousins - I remember them sitting in front of the TV screaming when they would come on kissing the TV lol - here is my secret band I loved back then Culture Club lol when they toured my mum said I was too young and wouldn't take me I was so devastated. Then a hundred years later in my late 20s they toured again with a few other 80's bands - and I went with a friend from work - we had the best time haha

Good morning and welcome to your QOTD for Thursday April 21, 2016:

Obi-Wan was a leader, teacher... JEDI MASTER throughout his entire life! He not only "talked the talk", but he "walked the walk".

obi.jpg

obi2.jpg

He taught, helped, led, sacrificed for his Padawan..... and he ended up with students whose talents far outreached his own.

Who has been your "leader" or "teacher" along this journey (it doesn't have to be a particular person....it could be a website or book... or WW leader? Trainer? Friend?)? And do you aspire to lead in the future??

BONUS: Are you currently leading or inspiring someone else!? Perhaps you started a Biggest Loser challenge at work??

Absolutely to both! I might just do three backups the way things have gone for me lately. And I think this trip might even get a mini trip report!!
