WELCOME TO WOOHOO Wednesday!!

PLEASE share a woohoo that has happened in the past 7 days! Whether it is a NSV (non-scale victory), signing up for a new exercise class or a race or, or just something in your life that made you happy.... SHARE!!

My WooHoo is that I have worked out twice this week and I have been eating pretty good. I finally feel like the school year is winding down and the meetings are coming to an end. I am feeling like I finally have time for me. My kids have PRS tonight and my husband hates picking them up their (it is pretty caotic, I don't blame him). I told him last night that I would come home after work eat dinner and then go work out. He will drop this kids off and I will pick them up.

I did weigh myself this morning and I am at the same weight I was on Monday. I felt a little frustrated with the number. I have not been able to get below 144 since last year January. I keep reminding my self that if I keep up with what I am doing then I will loss the pound this week.

It's been a really good week - lots of woohoo's

- Knocked 3 minutes off of my initial 5k practice run. With the weather warming up, I'm interested to see how different it will be running it outside for the first time. I've been doing it on the treadmill with the incline at 2%, so hopefully that will help.

- I've lost 6 lbs since last Thursday. I can't say I've really done anything very different. If anything, I added a few calories to the diet (eating between 1,300 and 1,400) and things have been very good.

- Started a regular cardio routine. 3.1 mile run on Saturday, Rest on Sunday, 30 min elliptical on Monday/Thursday, 10% incline 30 min walks on Tuesday/Friday, and Speed runs on Wednesday. It's nice knowing what I have coming up.

- Started adding a nutritional shake to the diet. I won't have it every day, but I'll have it on days where my workout is more intense. I went with the Vega One powder that I'm mixing with a almond milk. I thought it was going to taste terrible, but it wasn't too bad. Hoping this will give me a little more energy.

- Made my own version of the Chipotle chicken bowl and it came out really good. I found the recipe for the chicken and the corn salsa that I like and made a bunch last Sunday. I take it for lunch a couple times during the week and I love it. I’m addicted to the Chipotle chicken bowl – I used to just get the burrito (with cheese and sour cream), but I find that I like the bowl better even without the cheese/sour cream.

- I have a seven workday streak going of getting over 20,000 steps in. Gotta keep it going!

Today's woohoo is that after jumping through I don't even know how many hoops and follow-up calls, I FINALLY got my application for design school submitted and pending review. Only about a month after I applied but who's counting? :rolleyes1

Now comes the waiting process :bored:... but I'm SO HAPPY that this weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I just hope the decision comes quickly/timely. I will 100% accept if I get in but it's a huge change and I have stuff to take care of in the mean time!

We found the recipe for the rice. Let me know if you don't have it. I can send it to you. We are addicted to Chipolte too. Steak bowl is my favorite. I only get the rice, steak, tomato salsa and just a little bit of cheese.

I've been using the microwavable minute rice packs because all I have is a microwave at work to warm it up and reheating rice for me hasn't been super effective. I just add some cilantro and lime to it and it comes out ok, but not as good as the real deal. I saw the recipe for the real stuff on-line; I might have to try it on the weekends!

Thanks!

My woohoo is that my Fitbit has been getting worse and worse for me cause it's pretty old and needed to be replaced, so I rewarded my new healthy lifestyle with an Apple Watch and the UPS man just dropped it off! I am super excited and won't get anything else done today ;)

Could you share your recipe? I've love to try this!

That's a huge woohoo! Congrats! I would be interested to know if you can link it to the Fitbit app so that you can still do challenges with friends. I know you can do it with your phone.

I was shocked yesterday to find out that I made BETA GAMMA SIGMA after being told I didn't make honors. BGS is for the top 20% of the graduating class, while honors is the top 5%. I must be in the top 6% LOL.

The induction ceremony is the same day I leave for Nashville, so sadly I won't make it -- but I get a cool stole to wear at graduation in 37 days. YEAH!

Isn't this the best feeling? I am so excited that you're starting to find yourself again and really start doing things for you! :)

There will be a few things different from your practice run versus the actual event. Street running is such a different beast - you'll have to contend with weather conditions and road type. You'll also notice that you may run faster or slower with other people near you. So keep up those practice runs and eventually get to the street to try it out before race day.

What time are you at now for the 5K?

YAY - please keep us posted. You're going to get in for sure!

Apples are definitely healthy ;)

Please brag about this all day and make me want to purchase one.

I really just want to get in the 30's for this, but it probably won't happen unless I just get a big rush doing it for the first time.

Why are you embarrassed?! You should be proud of your first time - a 13.5 minute mile is a great place to start! :thumbsup2 (My first one was 48 minutes and it took me 6 months to take off about 10 minutes)

As you continue building the stamina and the muscles you'll get faster. You'll be ready as long as you keep it up! GREAT JOB!!!

Hey, friends! Sorry for being an absentee the last few days. I'm on the treadmill now and my internet is being shoddy so instead of getting some designs done, I'm going to try to catch up here!

QOTD Monday - Sleep. Sleep. Oh, sweet sleep. I don't get enough of it. I love sleep. I've always loved sleep. My parents used to give me a really hard time about it, because I've always been a night owl, and always been able to sleep for 10-12 hours, so on breaks and weekends I would sleep all day and not be an "active participant in the family". Completely unintentional. Then it got to the point in college where I could pull all-nighters and thrive on 1-2 hours a night. Most recently I haven't been getting enough, by my estimation AND my Fitbit's - which I'm still not sure is entirely accurate. I've always moved in my sleep, and I think it's counting that as being awake/restless. Plus I sleep in the same bed as DH and DPup, and I KNOW they both move all night. But either way, I need to be getting more sleep. I do notice an increase in weight loss and energy when I sleep more.

QOTD Tuesday - I don't really drink. When I do, it's a special (rare) occasion and I go crazy, not even gonna lie. I just can't justify the cost and calories to have a drink casually. Last time I drank was my birthday in January, and before that was in Disney (though that was casual because $$$ and so much walking and so much to try) and before that was my do-over bachelorette party the week before my wedding. I had a few drinks at the wedding but they were super spaced out. My family really frowns on drinking more than one drink so I felt like all eyes were on me all night - and not in a good way. My first bachelorette party I was the DD because everyone else wanted to get drunk. I didn't have a single drop of anything. I actually ended up leaving early and coming home alone. I felt really guilty, but at the same time I wasn't having a good time and didn't feel like anyone was there because it was my bachelorette party, they were just there because it was an excuse to drink. Sigh. Of course, they all gave me a hard time about not drinking anything... but none of them wanted to stop drinking so they could drive.

QOTD Wednesday - Woohoos!

  1. I had absolutely ZERO desire/energy/drive/motivation to get on the treadmill today... but here I am. It's probably my suckiest treadmill walk yet, but I'm still doing it. Not sure how long I'll go before I throw in the towel, but I'm doing my best. I slept awfully last night. I clench my jaw really badly when I'm stressed, and I've been really feeling it the last couple of days. Yesterday it hurt a ton and gave me an awful migraine. I woke up this morning and couldn't open my mouth. It's only happened twice before - the first time was as we were getting ready for the Halloween party on our honeymoon. It was terrifying. I thought we were going to have to go to the ER instead, but it eventually loosened up. So, it's loosened up again now but I didn't sleep worth a darn last night because of it. Definitely feeling it today.
  2. Had a BIG break down Sunday night/Monday morning to DH about stress and money and my shop and my weight and guilt and everything. It felt good to cry and put it all out there, and now he knows exactly what's going on and will hopefully help me stay on track better.
  3. I weighed yesterday morning and was at 216 - that's down from the 219 at the beginning of the month (and down from the 225 that popped up last Wednesday afternoon, but we're going to ignore that because it was a fluke)... even better, I was still at 216 when I weighed this morning.
  4. Monday I got 21,528 steps (almost 9 miles). Yesterday I got 13,510 steps (almost 6 miles). So far today I'm at 5,100 steps (a little over 2 miles) and while I'm aware of the downward trend so far this week, I'm at least getting up and doing something instead of sitting on the couch and calling it a wash.
  5. We stocked up on groceries Sunday morning, and I can't even tell you how nice it is to be excited to go to the grocery store. "I'm in love with Sprouts" does not even begin to cover how DH and I feel about this grocery store. We've been shopping at Kroger and it's always awful. The produce and meat suck, everything is expensive, the employees are rude, the customers are even more rude... And we always end up frustrated and spending way too much money and buying so much crap we don't need to be eating. Sprouts doesn't carry the junk food we would normally buy at Kroger, and we don't even miss it. The produce is always fresh and green and good and not wilting or rotten. They carry so many different varieties of proteins and the chicken isn't mainly fat and doesn't cost $4/lb... We spent $80 for 2 weeks worth of food for the both of us, when we ordinarily spend $150 at Kroger for the same amount. And even that $80 was because we got a couple of vitamins and supplements which were $10 each but will last a month. So much love.
  6. Because of my low-ball goal of 30 minutes of walking 3 times a week, I'm already at 100% for this week!

First race times are the best, because you know you will set a personal record:) Any time is better than not even trying. There is a quote I can't recall exactly which says something like a slow finish is better than a did not finish which is better than a did not start. I think that is a good time for your first 5k! I will say that some people find that they are much faster or slower on the road versus the treadmill. With the incline you've been training with, you might find that you are faster on the road, especially if the course is flat. If you do end up slower, know that its just one race, and moving from the treadmill to the road can be a big change. Don't let it bother you.

My woohoo is that I totally blew my points for the day on breakfast! I had an iced chai and thought to get a morning bun as well, thinking how many points could it be, just bread with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on it ( yes it was the sparkling sugar that caught my eye). Come to find out, after I consumed it, it's like 308 points. I'm throwing point management out the window for the rest of the day and am having a significant chunk of protien for lunch, as increased protien should help with the sugar cravings.

Other than that, when I got back to work Monday and checked in with my Boss, what he came up with while I was gone was to shift people/jobs around and go to a different support model. So I am still going to manage the team I originally had and the extra folks who had been added are reporting elsewhere. Plus we just got our annual pay increases and it was a solid raise... Instead of the pay cut I was anticipating moving backwards!

I am struggling for a WooHoo today. Not a bad day or week, just nothing I am thrilled about. I guess I will have to go with the fact I got out for my run today. A little over 4 miles, and a walk afterwards of another mile. I was sick on my long run day Sunday (stomach bug) and then yesterday my son was home sick, so no run. So I am glad I got it in. My knee hurt a bit though, forcing me to walk for a quarter mile or so, I guess that's why I am not feeling overly excited about it.

I haven't figured that out yet and I'm not sure it's possible, but if it is, I will let you know, cause that was one thing I was kinda bummed about too!

Well, wouldn't you know, I opened the box, went to pair it with my phone...and no internet. Called internet company and I am part of an outage d/t a problem with my tower. On top of that, they said I had another connection problem that they'd have to send a tech out tomorrow to fix. So I fumed all day and folded laundry, cleaned the house, etc. About 3pm I had a ring at my doorbell. The service manager for our area stopped by to get me up and running again. Apparently, he knows who all has his internet and since the tower was down he was stopping by people's houses to get it back up and running. (Small towns have some benefits!) I could have kissed him! So it's paired now and running and I have some cool new wireless earbuds I synced with it too and I will try these both at the gym tonight! From what I have played around with it, I REALLY LIKE IT but I haven't figured out how to do everything yet! I'll keep you posted!
