If I get an early morning breakfast reservation before the park opens can I do that then sneak off to be the first in line to let tinkerbell out

Sure. But there will be several families there trying to do it. Is anyone a really fast runner? LOL! Thats what it takes nowadays. When we were there in May my 8 year old had to out-run several teens to get a chance to do it. She reallly wanted to do it so I let her make a dash for it. Really it isn't that big of a deal. Kinda cheesy but the young kids seem to love it.

When I was there in Nov, I had a 8am breakfast with Pooh and friends. When we left the Crystal Palace about 8.40am. We went over to Fantasyland, on the other side of the castle was CM's and a big rope. We had to wait for the rope drop, obviously you are ahead of the people coming in from the main gate, but there are still plenty of people that know about the Tink thing. The rope dropped at 9am. My DS5 and I got mowed down from all directions by people rushing to get to Dumbo or to Tink!! It wasn't as bad as it sounds, but at least ten families were sprinting off in various directions (including the requisite over ambitious Mom and screaming child) Me and DS5 just ambled our way over to Winnie The Pooh ride. So I would say you had a better chance, but not a guaranteed one.

honestly, i must have gotten really lucky both in late jan. 05 & early nov. 05....entered w/ many others on time (9 a.m. at the main gate), didn't run, & walked into the store w/out anyone else even in or near store. i assume they only do this once a day, right?

Oh, no, the Tink Run thread again :)

Yeah, they do once a day. But, you don't have to wake Tink for your kids to get the magical feeling.

Case to point -

We were there last week and we didn't rush to the Tink shop. We just watched a moronic mom rushing two girls there. We casually walked into the store to watch them wake the Tink. The girls were like 12 and 10 while my girls were 7 and 2. We just stood back and watched them. Since I didn't tell my girls this ahead of the time, they didn't know what they were missing.

So, the two other girls got their wands and tapped Tink's sleeping box. The fiber optics lights behind the register counter started to glow with "Tink's flying trail". You can hear the tinkling Tink flight sounds going from speaker to speaker throughout the store, simulating a Tink's flight to her drawer. My girls were jumping and yelling and following the sound, still believing in the magic, following the sound all the way to the drawer and peeking in.

What did the two older girls do? They stood there by the chest and kept tapping it with the wands, thinking that something else should happen. What did they expect? Actual Tink jumping out?

Magic moment wasted on the ignorant. :)

i think the view from the middle of the store would be better than up close by the chest. my 3 y.o. dd has done it twice (ages 2 & 3) & really didn't see the light or hear the sounds b/c she was staring at the chest waiting for something to happen...probably waiting for tink to jump out....i didn't know the first time what was going to happen....but the second time, i told her to look up & watch the light, etc....

WOW! You really didn't like those people! :earseek:

No I didn't. Not after they rudely pushed another mom and kids aside and ran to the Tink shop from the rope drop ;)

Personally, I prefer to wander in the shop at our leisure and watch for Tink in the drawer! Our kids were absolutely stunned and excited to see Tink appear in that drawer in May and were just as thrilled doing the same on our trip in Sept.! I got some awesome pictures of them waiting and then seeing Tink appear...Priceless! We have not even bothered with or been interested in the waking of Tink, mostly due to the outrageous behavior of adults about this "magical" event! I am on vacation! Why knowingly put us and our kids in the position to deal with other's rude behavior?!? I don't find getting pushed aside, kids in tow, to be anything magical at all!

I hear ya. I posted this photo elsewhere on Disboards, so you may have seen it before. But, we had several magical moments, but this is the one I like the most. Our DD3 looking into the Tink's keyhole and seeing her, giggling, laughing, and then waiting to see it again.

How adorable! I love to see the little kids wake Tink. They are so thrilled and excited to see it. I think it is getting out of hand too. I won't let my girls do it this trip. I figure we should let someone else enjoy it.

There are all forms of rudeness at WDW and most of them are rampant. The thing I find interesting is that atleast 50% of the offenses are committed by adults and it's adults that seem to want to correct everyone also, LOL :p

Pushing, shoving, running, stopping in the middle of a walkway, cussing, smoking, making stinky faces at people who are smoking in designated areas, cutting in line, pretending not to speak English in order to get away with something, not giving up you seat for someone else who thinks they should get it, passing gas in crowded areas, bringing food into the parks, rolling coolers/backbacks, 2 feet thick backpacks that hit other people, taking photos in the middle of walkways expecting people to walk around, not walking around other people's photos, grooming in dining areas, screaming, leaving trays on tables of counter service restaurants, making salads at "fixin's bars", staring, changing stinky diapers in public, running over people with strollers, not looking where you are going and mowing down toddlers, not wearing deodorant, wearing too much perfume, wearing inappropriate clothing, etc. etc. etc. I could go on and on. Everyone at WDW is on their vacation and unfortunately lots of folks think their comfort or experience is the only one that matters. I just try and be tolerant of others and realize maybe they are over zealous because they haven't experienced WDW before or whatever their reason is (it's really none of my business) and quite frankly I don't want my sitting in judgement of others being the example I set for my son.

Thanks for the warning about Tink. :teeth:

I must admit that I am one of those horrible moms that let my children run to Tinker Bell's store. This is something my daughter really really wanted to do. We ate our breakfast at Crystal Palace, and then we walked through the castle and stood at the rope drop there. There was MAYBE one other family standing there when we got up there. I was standing on one side of the castle by the restaurant, and DH and the girls were on the other side by the pictures. They never announced the opening of the park, because of the park. So, when DH saw someone walking up the path, he told them to go. They were the first in the store, and it wasn't a mad dash. It was a little jog/fast running. There was one other girl who got in there right after my girls. My girls got to do the official, but the other girl got to get up there and take pictures and tap it. She had good timing, too, because she tapped it and Tinker Bell flew by. I would have let her join my girls, but the CM said that she could do it after mine. It wasn't a big deal, although it was to my girls. The CM didn't get very excited about it.

I think people don't care if the kids get excited and run to the Tink's shop. It's those parents who push and shove other parents and kids aside so their kids have a clear shot that bothers people. And those parents that drag their unwilling kids behind them, kicking and screaming, to the Tink shop. Doesn't seem like it's your case :)

little, freebie but as with most things, some pushy and greedy parents have made it into a mad dash and don't mind pushing little children out of the way for their middle school age kids or themselves!

I would not even try or mention it. Its not worth have a negative experience at the Happiest Place on Earth!

When we were there on Labor Day weekend ,we were in Fantasyland about 15 minutes after the park opened. I thought about waking Tink as we were walking by to ride Snow White but thought we were probably too late. I asked DD to come in Tink's Treasures with me but didn't tell her why just in case. I quietly asked the CM at the counter if Tink had been woken up yet and unbelievably she said "no". She took DD who had no idea what was going on and asked her if she'd like to wake Tink. DD was thrilled! She put a crown on her and gave her a wand to tap the box with. DD was so excited when the CM told her to watch and listen for Tink to come out. They gave her a Magical Moments certificate too. I think it was even more magical because I hadn't told her about it! I guess we really did get some Pixie Dust that morning!
