May 4th, 2025 - 13 Night Eastbound Transatlantic Cruise from Port Canaveral to Barcelona (Castaway Cay, Azores, Lisbon, Cádiz)

Thank you, ladies! I couldn’t remember how long it took since I didn’t pay attention on previous cruises.

So, we got the stateroom assignment this week and now it feels like there isn’t much to do but wait until it’s time to pack. I have started thinking about that, pulled out my summer dresses to see how they fit and the small weightloss since last summer does show, which is great!

I also started to print out various documents to have with me in case online doesn’t work. Still need to buy an eSIM card for data in the USA. My trip already starts in 10 days!

Have to get through Easter first my kids are coming home this week . One lives 6 hours away so don’t get to see them as much as I like. I do Easter dinner for other family too so busy week ahead.

We alway set our clothes and stuff we will take out on my son’s bed . It will be used by son, fiance and dog .

It’s easy to pack since we aren’t using summer clothes here yet. We will be heading to Iceland after our cruise that one is hard for me but will only be 2 days so if I don’t get it right I will be fine.

Has anyone ever purchased the DCL WiFi? If so, did it work most of the time?
Not on a TA, but I've used it on most cruises. Yes, it works pretty well. It's not super fast, but gets the job done. There may always be 'dead zones,' especially as we cross the ocean.

I finally got the email today that it’s finalized. Feels really nice!

I also got the suitcase out of the basement today and wrote my packing list. I am afraid I am bringing too much stuff… I looked at the current weather in the Azores, Lisbon and Spain and it’s not that warm at all, so will bring two pairs of long pants… And then some nice dresses for the cruise. Before that we are in Orlando for a good week, so need themepark wear. I will get everything packed this weekend (except toiletries). I don’t know how people deal with fish extender stuff on top of their regular stuff!

I am leaving on Tuesday already, going to Berlin for a night with my sister before boarding the plane on Wednesday! The trip is nearly here!!

Last year's weather in the European ports was mid-60sº F for Ponta Delgada then low-70º F for mainland Portugal and Spain, so I probably will bring one pair of pants (outside of my formal wear), but I plan for shorts almost everyday. Also, my luggage tags are purple btw!

Howdy!

Is anyone repacking their luggage? Mine is currently 54lbs. I don’t know why! 😂
I have not even started packing yet! I leave Sunday (have a week of work travel right up until the cruise), but I'm currently on another work trip so I can't pack until Saturday. I have a very large suitcase that easily gets overweight. Thank goodness for status on American Airlines, as I get a higher weight limit!

I am all packed. I got to Florida yesterday. My suitcase was 48 pounds. But that included 7 cans of German soda (MezzoMix, used to be at Epcot). The son of friends of ours, who we will see in Orlando, fell in love with it when they visited us in Germany 2 years ago.

Most of our stuff is on my son’s spare bed right now. Will put in the suitcase a day before we go. Having a hard time with my shirts . Usually I have a lot of sleeveless shirts when cruising but I think I will have to put some t shirts in to wear under a hoody if it goes to the 60’s. I run hot . We shouldn’t go over our weight , decided to buy an extra suitcase for extras.

We have rain coats , vessi shoes if it gets too wet for our feet. We got fanny pack type purses that are mini safe type. Lots of lock zippers and non cut straps for Spain. Husband is really scared of the pick pocket people.

It’s been really warm here the last few days. 18 C today. That nice for Canada but it changes everyday. Could be freezing tomorrow.

Hoping to do wash half way thru but I’m sure I won’t be the only one. Hoping my Daughter doesn’t over pack. She is bad when it’s 7 days.

We fly in a day ahead. Here in Canada have an advisory of traveling to the U.S . Warning us about them checking phones, computer etc. to check your media. To see if you say anything against the government there. It’s the luck of the draw who you get at immigration. At least we go through at the airport on our soil.

Thank you for bringing up so many topics I’ve been hesitant to talk about! I’ve already switched handbags multiple times because of all the pickpocketing incidents I keep seeing in Europe. And here in the U.S., it feels like there’s a new plane issue every week—a Delta plane even caught fire at OIA on Monday!

I packed mostly shorts and dresses without really thinking about the weather over there—I just assumed it would be warm everywhere!

I know I’ll be just fine!

For every plane incident you hear about, there are hundreds of places that take off and land without incident. And of those incidents you do hear about, many have occurred with few injuries.

I highly recommend PacSafe-they make bag designed to protect against pickpockets. I'm bringing mine (converts from a purse to a small backpack) and got both my parents ones as well for this trip.

Yes! I keep telling myself that. I’m going to google PacSafe. Hopefully, I can get it before next week! Thank you!
