Let's try a "best tip or idea in one place" thread

A good 'ol fashioned can of Lysol => good for disinfecting AND getting rid of the nasty odor from the turbo toilet! Our's was super smelly for some reason last time!!!!!

Wait a minute - I missed the ironing tip. And I cant seem to find it. Are there ironing boards/irons available?

lovethatdisney - There are irons and ironing boards in the laundry rooms. They are on timers. So, when you are ironing away and all the sudden you lose steam...check the timer. You may have to turn the switch to give yourself more time. Not sure if this happened because I am a slow ironer or not!

Bring a couple of rolls of the "new" Dollar coins. They were very uncommon when we did this and the crew seemed to like the uniqueness.

You can get them from any Post Office stamp vending machine.

I recommend the flash light because if you ate traveling with young ones or even older cruisers it comes in handy.

My 4 year DS who was apprhensive about sleeping in a new place was given a flash light (a little yellow one) which he never used but it made him feel safe.

I had another little yellow one which was vital with the baby during the night. I slept (and liked) the pull down berth and the baby slept in the pack n play in front of the TV where the coffee table would go then drapes separated us from the rest of the cabin so my area was really dark and when I was crawling up and down to check the baby, use the rest room etc. It kept be from breaking my neck. The TV light would have been right over the crib and kept him awake and with the separating drapes pulled no bath room light reaches that area.

Just my thoughts.

Great, great tips on this thread from you all. A BIG THANK YOU!

Button hole extenders. On our first cruise DH didn't try on his shirt before we left and he hadn't worn it in quite awhile. He almost choked to death when I finally got it buttoned.:(

I like to get the detergent for laundry in the little tablets. That way they don't leak. Also, any liquids ie, wrinkle releaser, fabric softner, wine, etc. be sure to put in Freezer zip bags. DH's tie was ruined by the wrinkle releaser on our first trip and I had tighten it before putting it in the suitcase in a regular zip storage bag. The freezer bags are a lot sturdier.

Have fun. Kathy

Don't forget to bring a deposit for rebooking your next cruise while onboard!!!

;)

Don't let the small stuff bother you and don't foget to be thankful everyday that you are able to be on a magical vacation.

I ALWAYS travel with a small assortment of Plastic Zip straps. (the kind that police are usuing for handucffs). I get a variety of sizes, and neon colors work especially well.

they can fix/secure nearly anything.

They are also good bag security.

Pre-Written address computer labels for post cards. No need to find all those addresses. REad this on the board somewhere.

Maybe some of my tips will be repeats, but never hurts to hear it twice, right!

1) Bring bathing suit in carry on-- so you don't have to wait for your bags to be delivered to your room!

2) Bring extra film, and a waterproof camera. I recommend using disposibles, so you don't have to worry about camera malfunctions. Bring your camera EVERYWHERE!

3) Skip the lunch buffet at least once, and eat at Tritons/Lumiere's

4) Bring an address book, and meet new people! Exchange emails addresses with people (especially tablemates, and you can stay in touch, swap pictures and stories!

5) Bring thank you cards for the staff. Coming from a cast member, it's the little things that keep the pixie dust in your heart alive!

6) Unless you can't live without soda 24/7 DON'T DO THE SODA MUG DEAL. You can get soda for free at every sit-down meal, I always got them at dinner, and even at the sit-down lunch at Tritons. You only need to pay for soda at bars and at poolside really. Besides, when you are swimming and in the sun, it's better to drink juice and water anyway!

7) Save everything, and make a scrapbook.

8) Go to at least one program/activity a day. The cruise staff is great, and you get to meet people other then the ones you see at meals.

9) Play, or at least attend Jackpot bingo the last night. It's a blast. WARNING WARNING WARNING BINGO IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE, but FUN FUN FUN!!

10) Remember Hakuna Matata... everyone wants a perfect vacation, but nothing can be absolutely perfect. Just remember, you are safe, with your family and friends, sitting on a gorgeous ship, basking in the sun. The cruise staff works EXTREMELY hard, from your servers, to your stateroom host, to the person putting towels next to the pool. They come from countries, where often times, a doctor's visit, and even clean water is unheard of. You are blessed! Enjoy every minute, it's a lifetime opportunity, so make it a lasting memory!

Thx all!

These tips are outstanding. My DH and I had a blast all week trying lots of activities.
We belly flopped,
scavenger hunted,
bingoed,
swan in the adult pool,
hair braided,
shuffleboarded,
segwayed,
and went to every adult evening activity our stamina would allow!

Take my advice and have a blast!

These are great. Here are a few of mine.

Fanny packs.

We give each kid (got 4) a 24 exposure disposable camera before the trip. Let em take a picture of whatever they want. But once they use it up they are done. They get better with each trip.
Plus they have their own memories.

Straws.

Some hard candy (my favorite is butterscotch).

I have seen these mentioned in a few threads...can someone tell me exactly what they are and where I can get them?? They sound like a good alternative to locking your luggage, since the airlines recommend no locks...Thanks!

I am assuming this is a no brainer but I need to make sure to do this.....

LOTS of extra batteries. I am figuring that since there are limited outlets charging my batteries at night are going to be hard to do. So if you are going to be taking your two-ways or your digital cameras - DON'T FORGET THE BATTERIES!!!!
